This programme teaches students the skills required to manage a software project by producing criteria to monitor the project's progress and measure outcomes. Students learn how to formulate requirements for a business system and are given an underpinning in the nature of software development and its inherent complexity. The programme also covers system modelling and user interface and database design. Students learn to develop a system from determining its requirements and graphic user interface to database implementation.

This programme is of particular interest to those with a first degree in business or with business experience. Students are given an understanding of the information technologies upon which e-commerce is built and how these technologies provide us with new ways of organising and managing business. The MSc Global Supply Chain Management is an exciting and focussed programme for those considering a career in supply chain or logistics.

You will study issues relating to the development of supplier relationships, operations improvement, procurement strategies, inventory control, logistics operations, sustainability, as well as contemporary issues affecting these areas.

Our students come from a number of countries, including Brazil, Mexico, USA, Canada, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Germany, France, Greece, Turkey, China and South Korea. Aims

Brunel Business School won the Times Higher Education Awards Business School of the Year 2013

The programme includes a series of guest lectures, supply chain and procurement conferences, company visits and employability workshops.Past visits have included site tours of Mini and Jaguar car plants, as well as visits from LEAN specialists at Rolls Royce and Wiles Greenworld.

In addition, on completion of the MSc GSCM programme, successful graduates can apply to become full members of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, subject to having satisfied the three year relevant work experience requirement.

Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
The Brunel MSc Global Supply Chain Management is one of a small number of programmes in the United Kingdom to receive accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). Operations and Information Systems Management Research Group (OISM)
Based on accumulated knowledge and resources in two previously successful research centres of the Business School (ISEing led by Habin Lee and Ray Hackney; and OASIS previously led by Amir Sharif and David Gallear), OISM has the ambition to be a leading research group specialised in responsible and sustainable operation management - exploring information systems, operations research, management science, and general and strategic management knowledge, using approaches across public and private industry sectors.

Modes of Study

1-year full-time in September: The taught element of the course (September to April) includes eight modules; delivery will be by a combination of lectures, seminars and tutorials/group work. A further four months (May to September) is spent undertaking the dissertation.

Assessment

Modules are typically assessed by individual assessment, or an examination in May.

Teaching methods include lectures and informal small study groups.

Coursework and examinations place considerable stress on the ability to think and reason critically, but constructively.

The dissertation (12,000 words) is the capstone demonstration of these skills, requiring students to conceive, justify, design and execute a major project.

Individual and/or group presentations using laptops, PCs and digital projectors.

UK Industrial and Commercial Visits

Where possible, events and external visits are arranged with UK organisations to help demonstrate theory in practice.

The Institute of Computer and Communications Law (ICCL) offers online distance learning programmes that leads to the award of a Queen Mary University of London, Postgraduate Certificate in Computer and Communications Law.

The programme draws on our established teaching and research expertise in IT law, e-commerce law, communications law, computer law and media law.

Law as a subject is particularly suitable for online learning in that it is primarily text-based, so delivery of teaching materials is not restricted by bandwidth limitations. Most of the relevant materials for computer and communications law are available in digital format from databases such as Lexis and Westlaw to which you gain access through your Queen Mary Student account. We use a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) as a platform to deliver clear course structures, teaching materials and to create interactive courses. Your e-learning experience is enhanced by tutorials using discussion boards, blog postings and live chat for class discussions and question and answer sessions. We have designed the course to allow as much interaction and feedback between students and tutors as possible. Your understanding will be deepened by discussing your reading with fellow students and your course tutor and carrying out short tasks related to the course. We also use audio and audio-visual presentations. You will not need to have access to a local law library, a basic internet connection and browser is all that is needed to do the course.

Flexible Learning

You can study Computer and Communications Law to Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or LLM level, by distance learning.

The programme is tailored for you if you wish to obtain a specialist Certificate in Digital Media Law, Certificate in IT or IP Law, Certificate in E-commerce Law or a Certificate in Communications Law. The certificate requires the successful completion of 60 credits over a minimum of one year, which can be completed as follows:

On successful completion of the certificate you may switch to the diploma. The diploma must be completed within a minimum of two years, and a maximum of six years. The diploma requires the successful completion of 120 credits, which can be completed as follows:

Mechatronics, robotics and autonomous systems represent a range of important technologies which underpin many applications – from manufacturing and automation through to self-driving cars and robotic surgical tools.

Delivered by the Schools of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computing, this programme will equip you with the specialist knowledge and wide range of skills to pursue a career in this dynamic field.

Core modules will give you a foundation in the many applications of mechatronics and robotics and develop your understanding of the wide range of industry sectors that use robotics. You’ll also build research skills with a major project in fields as diverse as robot swarms, sensing systems, bio-inspired robots and surgical robotics.

Diverse optional modules will allow you to focus on topics that suit your interests and career plans, guided by academics whose teaching is informed by their own world-class research.

Specialist facilities

The Faculty of Engineering is an exciting and stimulating environment where you’ll learn in specialist facilities. These include an ABB robotic manufacturing cell, the Embedded Systems Lab, the Keysight Technologies Communications Lab, the National Instruments LabVIEW Academy, and computer clusters with a very wide range of industry-standard CAD/CAE/CAM software packages.

The three Schools that deliver this programme collaborate in research projects within the themes of surgical robotics, rehabilitation robotics, exploration robotics and future cities. 

Course content

Three core modules act as the foundations of the course, developing your understanding of key aspects of mechatronics and robotics and how they fit into the context of the full range of industrial sectors and rapidly-developing everyday applications.

Mechatronics and Robotics Applications will look at the challenges, problems and solutions involved in integrating components such as actuators and computer control into modern engineering systems in domains such as healthcare and the automotive industry.

To build your understanding of the global industry and career opportunities, you’ll also complete a dissertation in a topic of your choice. This is supported by a series of lectures that cover the principles of globalisation, industry sectors, manufacturing, business models, teamwork skills and entrepreneurship. This could take the form of a business, manufacturing or outsourcing plan, a proposal for research funding or an essay on a specific aspect of the industry.

Over the summer months you’ll also work on your research project. This gives you the chance to work on a project allied to one of our research groups, spanning an exceptionally wide range of areas ranging from computer vision and artificial intelligence through robotic communications, sensing and embedded systems to mechanical design, industrial inspection, biomedical engineering and surgical robotics.

You’ll complete your studies by selecting from a range of optional modules that allow you to focus on topics that suit your personal interests or career intentions. You could build your understanding of computational methods, medical robotics, control systems design and more.

WORK PLACEMENTS

As part of the International Business Logistics MSc degree, students have the option of enrolling on the internship programme (Postgraduate Consultancy Project), subject to satisfying the assessment criteria. This module normally lasts between 8–12 weeks and provides students with an opportunity to undertake a workplace project on behalf of an organisation.

Coventry University Business School works closely with companies across the UK and Europe to offer a wide variety of internships.
Students must successfully meet the following assessment criteria:
-Academic: successful completion of all Semester 1 modules including research methods at the first attempt
-CV short-listing: submit a CV which will be used for competitive short-listing by the internship panel
-Presentation: prepare and successfully deliver a formal presentation
-Interview: interview with the university internship panel

Innovation and Technology are key drivers of competitive advantage and long-term success for companies in today’s global knowledge economy. This programme aims to meet an important skills gap identified in Irish industries, by providing opportunities for technology, science and engineering graduates to develop a broad set of business, management, innovation and commercialisation tools. Upon completition of the programme the graduate will emerge as a technology leader with a strategic perspective on organisational issues and challenges.

In this context the programme objectives are as follows:
-Provide perspectives, concepts, and tools to anticipate challenges and seize opportunities presented by global technological change
-Provide graduates from different functional areas and perspectives with an understanding of the nature and process of technological innovation
-Develop a common business language so managers and technologists can work together on technological processes within their organisation
