What information do managers need to analyse the performance of their organization? Which control systems are most suitable for managers to influence the behaviour of their employees in such a way that the organizational strategy is realized? How can changes in management control systems be realized successfully?

The MSc Business Administration - specialization Organizational and Management Control explores financial and nonfinancial information gathering and decision-making in the context of the gathering and provision of internal economic information. It also studies the way this information is used by the managers of organizations.

You will explore subjects like Research in Management Accounting Techniques, Research in Management Control and Management Accounting Change. In the second semester, you will write a Master's thesis.

The Critical and Curatorial Studies Program aims to address the growing need for curators and critics who have theoretical knowledge and practical experience in analyzing institutions, preparing displays and communicating about contemporary art. The program aims to produce individuals who are:
- able to engage productively with critical discussions of art and visual culture
- capable of developing and working with new modes of exhibition
- able to work creatively in both traditional and innovative situations
- familiar with issues and institutions affecting contemporary art

Critical and Curatorial Studies (CCST) is an emerging field of scholarship and training that looks directly at the roles and responsibilities of curators and critics as mediators between objects, institutions, experiences, individuals and groups. While this involves investigating and negotiating a number of disciplinary fields, from ethnography to aesthetics, organizational behaviour to cultural studies, the main focus is on contemporary conditions of display and understanding.

CCST students take three required graduate seminars that engage with historical frameworks and contemporary contextual issues within curatorial practice, and case studies in exhibitions and institutions. These popular seminars are open to other graduate students as well and foster interesting dialogues on issues surrounding curation. CCST students supplement their knowledge with Art History courses and are given the opportunity to take additional credits outside the department as well. They are also challenged to achieve reading knowledge of a language other than English for their language requirement, along with the MA in Art History and PhD students.

During the graduate practicum students gain professional experience through the research, planning, and realization of a significant project and are expected to rationalize their exhibition in written work and presentations at various stages during its production. Students are exposed to the practical and theoretical concerns of exhibition creation and are rewarded in their endeavour with local, if not national and international exposure.

The final requirement for the MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies program is the Major Paper. This extended essay provides students with the opportunity for original and in-depth research on a topic related to the themes or cases examined in the course of study.

The MSc in Occupational and Organizational Psychology is designed to develop the next generation of evidence-based leaders and practitioners in the field of work and organisational psychology. Despite being research-focused, this MPhil (1 year full time) presents opportunities in a number of domains from research and scholarship at one extreme to applied work in areas such as mental health, child protection, health promotion, product design and organizational behaviour at the other. The areas in which you are able to work are to an extent determined by the specific area of your graduate qualification.

About the department

The Department is equipped with excellent teaching and research facilities including eye-trackers, sound attenuated chambers, biological measurements laboratory, qualitative research rooms, transcription rooms, experimental research cubicles, high-quality video editing facilities and dedicated computer workrooms.

Our postgraduates are located in the heart of the Department, with computer and storage facilities. We also have options of individual offices for periods of research activity where available. You will be expected to review your training needs with supervisors on an annual basis, which may include training in methods, clinical research, and/or conference attendance.

The university has a proud tradition of research excellence, as demonstrated in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2014) assessment. It placed the university in the top 50 institutions for research power and intensity. It submitted 77% of eligible staff and 95% of the university's research was of an internationally recognised standard.

The M.H.K. program offers concentration in either Applied Human Performance (sport and exercise psychology, biomechanics and ergonomics, exercise physiology, motor learning and control, lifespan development) or Sport Management (leadership, organizational behaviour, community development, sport finance and economics, sport and the law, sport sociology, sport history, sport marketing).

The program is uniquely structured to offer both a research thesis stream, and an internship stream. The internship stream provides students with hands-on work experience to complement their coursework.

Our program is well established with 21 graduate faculty members supervising 80 M.H.K. students. There are several well funded laboratories and research groups supporting student research.

Program Description

The program focuses on the application of movement science in sport, the workplace, and activities of daily living. Students pursue course work, thesis research, and internships that examine the basic and applied principles of human biomechanics, ergonomics, exercise physiology, lifespan development, motor learning and control, neuromuscular physiology, and sport and exercise psychology.
