Our Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) course will help you to develop your career as a business manager.

The course has three specific pathways. The generic pathway allows you to learn every aspect of modern business administration, with transferable skills you can take to any given sector.

-MBA

-MBA (Healthcare Management)

-MBA (Environmental Management and Sustainability)

If you are looking to further your career in areas of Healthcare Management or Environmental and Sustainability Management, then our two specialist pathways will allow you to do this. You'll be given valuable insight and specific skills into these two huge sectors of global business.

What's covered in the course?

Our course provides the opportunity to combine the theory and practice of management, healthcare management, and environmental sustainability in an interactive online environment where you will be studying with other students from internationally diverse background and also have the support and guidance of specialists in the various fields of study.

The programmes of study will provide you with the skills employers really value, so it is the perfect option if you want to change career directions or aim to move up the corporate ladder. You’ll be encouraged to question, analyse and challenge the assumptions that are made about modern organisations and provide innovative solutions to the problems that are encountered in the rapidly changing world of business. We’ll nurture your skills by helping you devise contemporary and forward-thinking strategies and day-to-day tactics that’ll help organisations thrive in a range of business settings.

The Online Master of Business Administration and the two specialist pathways will run on a part-time and full-time basis. There will be initially three entry points per calendar year, so we have flexibility in terms of delivery and also starting point.

Why Choose Us?

-The University is embarking upon an exciting new phase of our portfolio development with a range of innovative online programmes that enable students to gain internationally recognised qualifications without the added expense or disruption of international on campus study – you can in essence ‘earn and learn’.

-We have a strong ‘practice based’ focus to our academic portfolio and this will allow you to apply the theory to real world situations and bring your experiences to the class as live discussion topics.

-The University is an active research centre, and the latest Research Excellence Framework 2014 report found we have doubled the amount of staff producing internationally recognised research.

-Our graduates move on to successful careers where they apply their knowledge to full effect.

-You’ll work alongside students from around the globe, creating a diverse, exciting atmosphere and a range of ideas.

Course structure

Our programme and the pathways are designed to allow you to study from your home location is perfectly balanced to blend business and management with finance, meaning you learn important skills from both disciplines. The dissertation will also ensure you develop your attributes in research, organisation and time management, three skills that look desirable to every employer.

We allow graduates from diverse disciplines, or those seeking continuing professional development, to gain access to the study of business within a number of specialist areas.

Our programme has a very flexible approach and you can study up to three modules at any one time on a full-time basis or you can study a module at a time at your own pace within the specified registration period.

Assessment is of a practical nature and will be examination based. There are many opportunities to assess your progress throughout the modules and there is a facility for a practice examination that provides feedback on your performance.

Employability

Unlike undergraduate degrees, which are designed to get students into industry, our MBA degrees are aimed at existing industry professionals looking to climb further up the career ladder.

Companies around the world are now looking for a different kind of manager. They need people with different skillsets that can look at situations and opportunities in unique ways. Our MBA degrees will give you the tools to stand out from the rest.

Upon completion, you will be able to effect positive change, both in your own professional practice, and within your organisation. On a personal level, you’ll be able to utilise new skills and methods to improve your efficiency, your critical engagement, and your ability to instigate change.

Successful improvements in your personal professional practice will then benefit your organisation. The MBA degree alone can open doors, but the possibilities opened to you by utilising your skills to improve your organisation are even more impressive.

Already a managing director, in charge of your own company? The MBA degree can still benefit you internally and externally. The knowledge and skills you will pick up over the course of your degree can allow you to become an industry leader, growing your company’s reputation through innovation. The accompanying benefits of this could help cement your company’s industry position for years to come.

Plant Breeding plays an important role in the development of plant varieties for food, feed and industrial uses. New varieties have to meet current demands regarding yield, disease resistance, quality characteristics, salt or drought tolerance and suitability for sustainable plant production systems. Plant Breeding involves a variety of aspects, ranging from the molecular level to the population level and requires knowledge on the physiology, ecology and genetics of cultivated plants.

The use of various molecular techniques contributes enormously to the rapid identification of genes for natural resistance and is essential for accelerating the selection process by marker-assisted breeding.

The field of nutritional epidemiology and public health aims at elucidating the relationships between dietary intake, nutritional status and health outcomes.

We train future epidemiologists in observational and intervention studies, with the aim of finding novel ways to preventing disease and promoting health. This will be based on studying the aetiology of diet related diseases (from a biomedical perspective), the strategies for prevention in the community setting (from a behavioural and environmental perspective) and treatment in the curative setting (from a clinical perspective). In this way, epidemiology strengthens the understanding of maintaining good healthand disease aetiology, and helps quantify the impact of public health interventions on individual and environmental outcomes.

The only program offered by Walden that is state-approved as leading to any administrative/leadership license (e.g., assistant principal, principal, teacher leader, superintendent) is the MS in Education, Educational Leadership and Administration (Principal Licensure Program), which has been approved in Ohio for leading to building principal licensure (grades preK–6, grades 4–9, and grades 5–12).

Walden University meets the Ohio Board of Regents’ standards for graduate programs and the Ohio State Board of Education’s standards for Building Level Principal Licenses (grades PreK—6, grades 4—9, and grades 5—12). Upon successful completion of this program, Walden can recommend candidates for principal licensure to the state of Ohio. Candidates who complete this program may qualify for principal licensure in many other states; however, individuals must review their state’s regulations to ensure the program meets all requirements, paying particular attention to any requirements specific to out-of-state program completers.

Walden enrollment advisors can provide guidance on licensure issues; however, it remains the individual’s responsibility to understand and comply with all state licensure requirements. Walden makes no representation or guarantee that completion of Walden coursework or programs will permit an individual to obtain state licensure or endorsement. For additional guidance on licensure issues, please refer to http://www.WaldenU.edu/educlicensure.

For the MS in Education, Educational Leadership and Administration (Principal Licensure Preparation) only: Students who reside in Minnesota are not eligible for admission to the MS ED – Ed Leadership Program but should instead enroll in the EdS – Ed Leadership Program that is approved by the MN Board of School Administrators to meet requirements for eligibility for licensure as a school principal in Minnesota.

Graduates of Walden’s MS in Education – Educational Leadership who wish to seek principal licensure in Minnesota should first obtain principal licensure in Ohio and then apply for a licensure under the “license in hand” provisions in the MN Board of School Administrators (MBOSA) regulations. Under these regulations, a provisional license will be issued and additional coursework and field experiences will be required to meet requirements.

Walden enrollment advisors can provide guidance on licensure issues; however, it remains the individual’s responsibility to understand and comply with all state licensure requirements. Walden makes no representation or guarantee that completion of Walden coursework or programs will permit an individual to obtain state licensure or endorsement.

By completing all the competencies included within a degree program, students demonstrate that they have acquired skills and knowledge specifically identified by leaders in their field, and are able to apply them immediately in their work lives.

Mastery of competencies is proven through a variety of assessments, such as selected responses, short answers, or work products.

The Master of Healthcare Administration program competencies are grouped within areas of expertise.
