You can elect to take a Russian course when in Moscow, which can be a beginner's course. The course consists of the larger British-style modules taught over 20 weeks and smaller modules as taught at MGIMO. The subject area covers general topics in the area of international relations and contemporary international affairs, but allows you to specialise in subjects relating to Russia in an international context or else in more general sub-areas such as diplomacy, media or business economics. No knowledge of Russian necessary!

The one-year double degree master program in Management in Emerging Economies is offered by the International Business School Alliance (IBSA). It enables students to study in two countries, receiving masters' degrees from two institutions. In the post-Cold War globalising world there is an increasingly apparent need for ever-more sophisticated ways of understanding the dramatic changes taking place.

This programme addresses that need. This MA programme provides you with advanced training, by way of coursework and dissertation, in the general methods, scope, theories, and findings in the field of International Relations. It builds on an undergraduate specialisation in the field of International Relations or a similar discipline; it gives a systematic preparation for original postgraduate research or for a demanding international career; and it constitutes a programme of training for those who have graduated in other fields and wish to transfer to International Relations.

This is a version of the International Relations programme which offers the opportunity to study at the prestigious Higher School of Economics in Moscow and obtain two Master’s degrees. You spend the first year at Kent and the second year in Moscow. Courses in Moscow are taught in English with the option to take Russian language courses. MBA in Russia

The Kingston MBA is also delivered with our partners in Moscow at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RPANEPA). We offer two programmes: an MBA and an Executive MBA. The programmes are identical to the MBA delivered at Kingston University, but with some additional workshops and input from local regional practitioners. The core curriculum is delivered by Kingston University academics, supported by colleagues from RANEPA.

The Kingston MBA allows you to study a wider wide range of topics than you are offered on any other conventional MBA course, specialising in the areas most relevant to your career path.

Assessment

Our assessment methods reflect the skills and experiences you will value the most when you graduate. We will make sure you are thoroughly prepared for your assessments, which include written assignments, discussions, group work, presentations, case studies, role plays and game simulations.

Course structure

The Kingston MBA is a highly flexible programme of study. You need to gain 180 postgraduate credits overall, but you select your modules from a wide range of possibilities. This means you can specialise in the areas that are most relevant to your current and future career.

Your 180 credits break down into separate components:
-100 credits. Choose 10 core modules (each worth 10 credits) from the core modules list.
-40 credits. Choose four elective modules (each worth 10 credits) from the elective modules list.

MA Acting is an intensive 45 week conservatoire Actor training course. Eight weeks of the course are spent studying in Moscow. Skills classes in Voice, Movement, Neutral Mask, Ballet, Period Dance, Speech and Acting underpin a programme embracing the Greeks to Contemporary drama, with particular emphasis on Shakespeare and Chekhov.

Content

MA Acting is primarily a stage acting course which focuses on the techniques developed to address the demands posed by the great European classics.

MA Acting is a rewarding route to the general training of actors, offering a solid grounding in acting technique, rooted in the long-established traditions of England and Russia, which are widely considered to be the foremost exponents of the art of the actor.

Throughout, the postgraduate course emphasises theatrical approaches, in particular those relating to narrative structures, movement expression and the conveyance of complex texts by means of a rich, well-trained voice. Questions of text and subtext are explored in detail.

MA Acting approaches performance in ways specifically addressing the needs of the Jacobean stage: focusing on vocal accuracy with speed, expressivity on a large scale, engagement with the audience. In addition, the postgraduate course encourages you to develop skills required by the realist style: multi-layered characterisation, recognising the subtle rapport between text and sub-text, being ‘private in public’.

Structure

MA Acting is structured in 2 units over 45 weeks:

Unit 1 (weeks 1-15) "Skills and techniques of Acting"

Unit 2 (weeks 16-45) "The practice of Acting".

8 weeks are spent at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, known as the Vakhtangov Institute, in Moscow - one of the foremost conservatoire Drama schools in Russia.

WHAT ARE THE KEY STRENGTHS OF THIS PROGRAM?

The MBA offers a 500 hour general management program in a triple-accredited International Business School.
The Grenoble Graduate School of Business MBA is highly applied in content, delivered by a team that brings together academic specialists together with managers and consultants from a wide range of sectors.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: FULL-TIME STRUCTURE

The course modules are taught over one academic year from September to the end of June.
The class sessions take place on a regular basis from Monday to Friday. Upon successful completion of these modules, participants will begin their Final Management Project. Students normally work part- or full-time during this phase. The choice of location for the project is entirely the student's own.

Foreign Language classes: the Full-Time delivery includes optional foreign language, especially French.

PHASE 1 CORE COURSES

The program is a balanced and challenging one, equipping participants with numerical and analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills, plus insights into current managerial issues in geopolitics, macroeconomics and governance. Through regular group work on cases and individual assignments on management dilemmas, students will develop their expertise in budgetary and financial management as well as in people management. Strategic analysis and Negotiations skills are developed through face-to-face team negotiations to resolve authentic and complex cases.

Personal Development Week in Grenoble Each Year -

Students from each campus are invited to attend this week together, enabling students from 4 centers to network and to attend seminars and conferences together on key management questions. Topics covered typically include Conflict Resolution, Interview Techniques, Radical Career Change, Salary Negotiations, and Effective Leadership.

Global Management Challenge -

The Global Management Challenge simulation is one of the highlights of the core courses. Small teams of MBA students will compete in a complex management simulation against leading business and engineering schools, firstly in France followed by international play-offs in the final rounds. The decision-making is intense and the experience is a roller-coaster ride of changing share price, volatile business environments, and exchanges - often heated! - with fellow team members.

In 2016 all full-time Grenoble students will visit Barcelona, Spain for the International Human Resources module.

PHASE 2 SPECIALIZATIONS

From a menu of up to 8 alternative choices, students can personalize their MBA program for 20% of their total class sessions. The content is focused on professional management activity, such as Management Consulting, or management in a range of functional areas. For many participants, the specialization choice will also determine the focus of the Final Management Project: for example, choosing a Finance elective can lead directly to a project in the area of Finance.

PHASE 3 FINAL MANAGEMENT PROJECT

During this phase, program participants are free to locate to anywhere in the world and to complete their projects while pursuing professional activity. The Project is an opportunity that different students use in different ways. A Full-Time student may use the project to demonstrate value and capabilities to a potential employer. For some students, ideas for entrepreneurial ventures can be assessed before the start-up is launched.

CNCP RECOGNITION

Students graduating from the MBA also receive a certificate conferring them the title of Manager International. This title, recognized by the Commission Nationale de la Certification Professionnelle - an agency belonging to the French Ministry of Labor - attests to the successful acquisition of a core of international management skills and knowledge necessary for future roles as managers in an international context. The Manager International label is registered on the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles at Level 1, the highest level for such certification.

Our department offers a distinctively comparative approach to the study of literature; at Essex you don’t just study English literature, you study world literature in English. You explore literature across time, geography, and genre, combining scholarly research with innovative, practical ways of engaging with texts.

You grapple with the challenges of conducting research into Shakespeare and other early modern literature, acquiring specialist skills in archival research, palaeography, and the study of rare and antiquated books. You study materials on 18th century drama and literature, visiting the UK’s only surviving Regency Theatre to investigate how architecture affected the content of drama, and how drama reflected Georgian society. You have the opportunity to explore the history of genres such as the novel and lyric poetry, and study a truly extensive range of work; your reading takes you from African American literature, through Caribbean literatures, to the literature and performance of New York, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Moscow and London.

Our department is ranked Top 20 in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2015), and three-quarters of our research is rated ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (REF 2014).

This course is also available on a part-time basis.

Your future

A good literature degree opens many doors.

We offer supervision for PhD, MPhil and MA by Dissertation in different literatures and various approaches to literature, covering most aspects of early modern and modern writing in English, plus a number of other languages.

Our University is one of only 11 AHRC-accredited Doctoral Training Centres in the UK. This means that we offer funded PhD studentships which also provide a range of research and training opportunities.

A number of our Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies graduates have gone on to undertake successful careers as writers, and others are now established as scholars, university lecturers, teachers, publishers, publishers’ editors, journalists, arts administrators, theatre artistic directors, drama advisers, and translators.

This programme is an advanced study of historical and contemporary developments in the economy, politics, culture and society of Russia and the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.

Why this programme

-This programme is for those planning careers in major public, commercial and voluntary institutional settings who wish to acquire a specialised knowledge of Central and Eastern Europe and proficiency in one of the region's languages.
-Language and other study trips to the region are available. You will be offered the opportunity to spend a month in Russia. Some financial support is available to help you fund these trips.
-Choose between three specialist pathways: Central and East European Studies, Russian Studies, and Eurasian Studies.
-You will examine the history of communism and why it collapsed. You will learn about the impact of international organisations (e.g. the European Union, NATO) and of major world powers on the region as well as retaining an appreciation of the region’s internal diversity in a variety of spheres (cultural, economic, ethnic, political and social).
-You can participate in our extensive range of conferences, workshops, business days, seminars and networking activities involving representatives of the business, policy-making and third sector communities.
-The University Library holds one of the best Russian, Central and East European collections in the world.

We’ll help you develop your ability to translate from at least one language (current translation options are: from English into Arabic, Chinese, Polish and Italian or translation from Czech, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish into English).

This course is designed to produce international developers with advanced intercultural communication skills – it’s taught by the School of Languages and Cultures and the Department of Geography (page XXX). A module on international project management integrates the two subjects and there are communication seminars designed for developers.

Fieldwork is important. The course includes a compulsory field class in the global south. Recent field classes were in the West Pokot region of Kenya and the suburbs of Cairo.

In a global society based on fairness, everyone’s voice should be heard. The world needs developers who can communicate across cultural boundaries and bring people together. As a graduate of this course, you’ll be well placed to make a difference.
