Our expertise spans several disciplines including biomechanics, cancer biology, endocrinology, neuroscience, pharmacology and toxicology, reproductive biotechnology, cardiovascular biology, and stem cell and regenerative biology.

Programs

We offer two Master’s options and a Doctoral program. Master’s students can choose between a course-work plus a major research project/paper Master of Biomedical Sciences, MBS, (approximately three semesters) or a course-work and the preparation and defense of a research-based thesis option Master of Science, MSc (approximately six semesters). The PhD program requires the
successful completion of a qualifying exam and the completion and defense of a research-based thesis.

Faculty and Laboratories

There are currently 25 faculty and 60 graduate students in the department. Facilities include individual labs, multi-investigator labs and common equipment areas that have been renovated with the aid of funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Research equipment includes an Applied Biosystems ViiA7 and multiple Bio-Rad CFX96 RealTime PCR Detection Systems, NanoDrop Spectrophotometers, Accuri C6 System Flow cytometers, a full Proteomics suite consisting of a Typhoon scanner, spot picker and DeCyder analysis Software, ChemiDoc XRS+ Systems, a Histology core facility, Fluoview FV1200 Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope, fluorescent microscopes, a Neuronal Cell Imaging System, fluorescent plate readers, an Analytical HPLC Facility and as well as specialized laboratory equipment.

Course Description

The MBA International Management is a state-of-the-art MBA program that prepares managers and future leaders for working in a complex multicultural world. It targets German and international candidates with a non-business degree but offers enough depth for business degree holders seeking to further refine and strengthen their education. Candidates should have a successfully completed first academic degree, at least two years of professional work experience as well as an excellent English proficiency level.

The idea is to provide students with an excellent foundation of International Management knowledge and skills while at the same time providing them with the opportunity to choose two of four elective courses and specialize in a regional market. At the core of the curriculum lies the imparting of knowledge on current business theory and practice by the use of modern teaching methods as well as the continuous transfer of real-world applications. Furthermore, the program covers the area of Social and Self Competence. In this way, students are provided with a toolbox of executive and leadership skills that every modern leader should possess.

Studying at MBS

As with all study programs at Munich Business School (MBS), small and highly diverse workgroups as well as an intimate study and discussion atmosphere create the optimal learning environment. This allows our students to interact closely and collaborate productively with their class mates and lecturers. Current business and management topics in a well-rounded curriculum full of real-life applications are taught by a dedicated faculty using modern teaching methods and an interdisciplinary approach.

Program Structure

The MBA International Management (MBA IM) is divided into three terms over a period of 15 months. Each term covers topics from the three major modules Business & Management Knowledge, Executive & Leadership Skills, and International Business Environment. This effective modular structure is the basis for a challenging and compact MBA program, which allows its completion in less than one and a half years – thus minimizing the time our students spend putting their professional careers on hold.

MBA students receive in-class instruction on business topics and executive skills during Terms 1 and 2. In addition, they can choose two of four elective courses. Choices are: Management in Emerging Markets or Digital Business Transformation in the Fall term as well as Social Entrepreneurship or Global Supply Chain Management in the Spring term. Furthermore, they choose one of three International Focuses: Germany and Europe, Latin America, or China. In Term 3, students can opt for an International Immersion studying one semester abroad. Alternatively, they can also choose a Practical Immersion (internship or international consulting project) combined with an international week. Depending on their practical business experience, students may be eligible to waive the practical or international immersion in Term 3. This so-called Fast Track reduces the overall study time to a total of twelve months.

The Master Thesis at the end of the program demonstrates the students‘ profound understanding of current business topics and the ability to apply specific scientific methods to a real-world business situation. The topic will be chosen in collaboration with a company. Therefore, the knowledge and research presented in the thesis are valuable for both the student and their company.

International or Practical Immersion

Internationality and practical relevance are two of the core values of The Munich MBA. This is why MBA students can use Term 3 to choose an individual immersion corresponding to their personal needs. International immersion: Students can extend their international experience by studying abroad at one of our over 50 partner universities worldwide. Practical immersion: Students, who would like to immerse themselves into the practical application of their newly acquired knowledge, may either complete an nternship or a global consulting project. In addition, they will spend an international week at a selected partner university.

The MSc Organisational Psychology takes the psychological principles and theories you learned in your first degree and helps you apply them to the world of work.

As well as increasing your knowledge, the course arms you with the theoretical understanding and research skills required by the Division of Occupational Psychology of the BPS in the following eight areas: training, organisational development, employee relations and motivation, design of environments/health and safety, human/machine interaction, counselling and personal development, performance appraisal and career development, and selection in organisations.

We include BPS Occupational Test User (Level A and B) training in the tuition fees.

The majority of graduates subsequently undertake the practical experience required to become Chartered Occupational Psychologists. This is usually carried out within consultancy firms or within specialist sections of large organisations.

CIPD Course recognition
The course is approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) to the new equivalent advanced level postgraduate standard. You can enhance your studies by taking additional CIPD components that prepare you for CIPD membership. To qualify for membership you need to attend a series of skills workshops, with presentations by guest speakers, and complete a range of activities enabling you to develop practical HR skills.

You join CIPD as a student member and when you have passed all course units (including the dissertation) and the CIPD components, your CIPD membership will be automatically updated to Associate Member. Once you have applied your knowledge in the workplace, you can apply for Chartered membership.

The MBA General Management is designed to give its participants an excellent knowledge base in General Management plus two of four elective courses. It enhances the students’ individual competencies to be emphatic and highly performing leaders, and provides them with deep insights into international markets and cultures. It equips our students with the right tools to excel further in their careers: rigorous analysis, conceptual thinking, and creative execution. They learn, discuss, and apply general management knowledge and leadership topics in a truly international setting.

Studying at MBS

As with all study programs at Munich Business School (MBS), small and highly diverse workgroups as well as an intimate study and discussion atmosphere create the optimal learning environment. This allows our students to interact closely and collaborate productively with their class mates and lecturers. Current business and management topics in a well-rounded curriculum full of real-life applications are taught by a dedicated faculty using modern teaching methods and an interdisciplinary approach.

Program Structure

The MBA General Management is divided into three terms and time for the Master Thesis over a period of 24 months. The program covers topics from three major General Management modules: Business & Management Knowledge, Executive & Leadership Skills, and International Business Environment.

In addition, students can choose two of four elective courses. Choices are: Management in Emerging Markets or Digital Business Transformation in the Fall term as well as Social Entrepreneurship or Global Supply Chain Management in the Spring term. This effective modular structure is the basis for a challenging yet flexible two-year program allowing for the completion of the MBA degree without having to put professional careers on hold. Two International Weeks at SDA Bocconi in Milan and Singapore Management University offer further insights into European and Asian business environments and help enhance the students‘ international networks.

With their Master Thesis, MBA General Management students demonstrate a profound understanding of current business topics and the ability to apply specific scientific methods to a realworld business situation.

Delivery Mode

As a real part-time program, all courses of the MBA General Management are held bi-weekly on Friday afternoons and Saturdays, thus ensuring that our students‘ careers actually benefit from their choice to study – not suffer from it. Each term begins with a so-called Intensive Week, kick-starting the program with a whole week of courses and seminars.

The Master program in International Business at Munich Business School is a postgraduate study program in economics addressed to qualified and motivated Bachelor graduates from Germany and abroad. The increasing globalisation of the economy and pan-national employment legislation means that the ability to compare processes and practices across continents is a highly sought-after skill. This CIPD-approved course is extremely advantageous in securing a career in HRM. It gives you an understanding of the differences between the employment practices and industrial relations systems of varying countries and multinationals, and how they are influenced by social and economic factors.
