We're offering an online master’s top-up for students who have already acquired a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) or Oxademy Business School. Your learning experience will be enhanced by academic expertise from the University and a unique e-learning platform developed by Oxademy that aims to benefit learners from across the world.

More about this course

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) top-up builds on the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership (or equivalent), making this course perfect for those who want to use existing qualifications as an entry route to a full MBA.

This distance learning MBA top-up allows for greater flexibility as teaching takes place online, supported via Skype, email and telephone communication with our specialised London Met tutors.

You'll link theoretical and practical knowledge with analytical skills to practice in business organisations and leave with the ability to communicate complex ideas and analysis in business. As well as this, you'll develop leadership and strategic management skills for the benefit of your organisation and design, plan, organise and deliver an individual research report reflecting professional standards.

You'll also become a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

In the Research Methods module you'll be assessed through a 5,000 word research proposal. Marks will be according to the University guidelines. The business consultancy project will be assessed through a research project report of 8,000 to 10,000 words.

Modular structure

This course is delivered online and consists of two modules:
-Research Methods
-MBA Consultancy Report

The Research Methods module consists of 5 days of online teaching followed by 4 weeks of student writing a proposal.

The MBA Consultancy Report is an 8,000 to 10,000-word research project to be completeted over three months.

After the course

The course provides a springboard for a variety of career routes in UK and international organisations. Previous course members have found employment in a range of public, private and third sector organisations, and as well as securing employment, the MBA has provided a springboard for enhancing their careers. Our alumni are to be found working in a diverse mix of industries around the world, with many working in roles in marketing, finance as well as general management.

Moving to one campus

Between 2016 and 2020 we're investing £125 million in the London Metropolitan University campus, moving all of our activity to our current Holloway campus in Islington, north London. This will mean the teaching location of some courses will change over time.

Whether you will be affected will depend on the duration of your course, when you start and your mode of study. The earliest moves affecting new students will be in September 2017. This may mean you begin your course at one location, but over the duration of the course you are relocated to one of our other campuses. Our intention is that no full-time student will change campus more than once during a course of typical duration.

All students will benefit from our move to one campus, which will allow us to develop state-of-the-art facilities, flexible teaching areas and stunning social spaces.

WHAT ARE THE KEY STRENGTHS OF THIS PROGRAM?

The MBA offers a 500 hour general management program in a triple-accredited International Business School.
The Grenoble Graduate School of Business MBA is highly applied in content, delivered by a team that brings together academic specialists together with managers and consultants from a wide range of sectors.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: FULL-TIME STRUCTURE

The course modules are taught over one academic year from September to the end of June.
The class sessions take place on a regular basis from Monday to Friday. Upon successful completion of these modules, participants will begin their Final Management Project. Students normally work part- or full-time during this phase. The choice of location for the project is entirely the student's own.

Foreign Language classes: the Full-Time delivery includes optional foreign language, especially French.

Program

PHASE 1 CORE COURSES

The program is a balanced and challenging one, equipping participants with numerical and analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills, plus insights into current managerial issues in geopolitics, macroeconomics and governance. Through regular group work on cases and individual assignments on management dilemmas, students will develop their expertise in budgetary and financial management as well as in people management. Strategic analysis and Negotiations skills are developed through face-to-face team negotiations to resolve authentic and complex cases.

Personal Development Week in Grenoble Each Year -

Students from each campus are invited to attend this week together, enabling students from 4 centers to network and to attend seminars and conferences together on key management questions. Topics covered typically include Conflict Resolution, Interview Techniques, Radical Career Change, Salary Negotiations, and Effective Leadership.

Global Management Challenge -

The Global Management Challenge simulation is one of the highlights of the core courses. Small teams of MBA students will compete in a complex management simulation against leading business and engineering schools, firstly in France followed by international play-offs in the final rounds. The decision-making is intense and the experience is a roller-coaster ride of changing share price, volatile business environments, and exchanges - often heated! - with fellow team members.

In 2016 all full-time Grenoble students will visit Barcelona, Spain for the International Human Resources module.

PHASE 2 SPECIALIZATIONS

From a menu of up to 8 alternative choices, students can personalize their MBA program for 20% of their total class sessions. The content is focused on professional management activity, such as Management Consulting, or management in a range of functional areas. For many participants, the specialization choice will also determine the focus of the Final Management Project: for example, choosing a Finance elective can lead directly to a project in the area of Finance.

PHASE 3 FINAL MANAGEMENT PROJECT

During this phase, program participants are free to locate to anywhere in the world and to complete their projects while pursuing professional activity. The Project is an opportunity that different students use in different ways. A Full-Time student may use the project to demonstrate value and capabilities to a potential employer. For some students, ideas for entrepreneurial ventures can be assessed before the start-up is launched.

CNCP RECOGNITION

Students graduating from the MBA also receive a certificate conferring them the title of Manager International. This title, recognized by the Commission Nationale de la Certification Professionnelle - an agency belonging to the French Ministry of Labor - attests to the successful acquisition of a core of international management skills and knowledge necessary for future roles as managers in an international context. The Manager International label is registered on the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles at Level 1, the highest level for such certification.

The Bath MBA equips students with both theoretical and practical knowledge as well as the professional and personal skills to manage strategically and successfully in a constantly changing environment.

Are you are a team player seeking an MBA that will challenge you to reflect upon the links between business and society? Are you an aspiring entrepreneur or seeking career transformation? Are you looking to develop your leadership and interpersonal skills?

The Bath MBA is ranked second in the UK (Economist 2012), ranked first for salary increase and recognised as one of the top 25 MBA's in the world. Both full-time and part-time Bath MBA candidates undertake the same course content.

Our part-time programme is taught via 5-day modules (Monday to Friday) on campus at Bath compressed into 2 years with the flexibility to extend and complete in up to a maximum of 5 years. In total, participants take around 70 days to complete the BATH MBA at the Bath Campus. Students also have up to 5 months to complete their 'final project or dissertation' during which attendance on campus is not normally required.

The Executive Bath MBA has the same course content as the full time programme and is mostly taught via 5-day modules (Monday to Friday) on campus at Bath. Our Executive, part-time route can be fast tracked into 2 years of study with the flexibility to extend and complete in up to a maximum of 5 years.

Following the part-time route, candidates take the equivalent of 12 weeks of study on campus at Bath to cover Stages 1 and 2. They then have up to 5 months to complete their 'final project or dissertation' at Stage 3. In terms of time ‘out of the office’ we normally advise that prospective students should factor 70 days in total; to include all taught modules on campus, syndicated or peer learning groups, project workshops and an allocation for the 4 exams associated with the programme. Attendance on campus is not normally required during the final stage of the programme.

Strathclyde Business School has been delivering the Strathclyde MBA on an executive (part-time) basis via our international centres since 1988. Read more

Why this course?

Strathclyde Business School has been delivering the Strathclyde MBA on an executive (part-time) basis via our international centres since 1988. We’ve successfully offered and developed the MBA in the UAE since 1995.

A pioneering and experienced MBA provider, we update and review our MBA to reflect the current business environment. Strathclyde’s MBA is strategy-focused and blends theoretical and practical business learning. Our MBA is flexible, and responsive to the needs of working individuals. Our wide choice of electives can help you personalise the programme to suit your business interests. These elective classes can be studied in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, as well as in Glasgow or at our other international centres, to give you an international learning and networking experience.

The MBA project gives you an opportunity to examine in depth a managerial, organisational or environmental issue of your choice over an extended period of time.

Our Executive MBA allows you to study whilst continuing with your career and allows you to implement your learning into work.

See the website https://www.strath.ac.uk/courses/postgraduatetaught/mba-dubai-abudhabi/#

What is the programme format?

The programme is designed for busy executives who need to combine career and family commitments with the demands of MBA studies. The flexibility of the part-time approach enables most participants to graduate within two years. However, study may be spread over a longer period if necessary, to a maximum of six years.

Typically, your MBA studies will be made up of:
- monthly intensive seminars delivered by Strathclyde academics at both our Dubai and Abu Dhabi centres
- regular tutorials with our locally based counsellors
- off-campus learning and support via our virtual learning environment

You’ll work in an international environment alongside like-minded classmates and be part of our long established network of students and alumni from our international postgraduate centres.

A highlight of the Strathclyde calendar is the annual MBA Summer School which takes place in Glasgow, over May and June. The summer school is open to all study routes of the MBA who have reached the elective stage of the programme. It's a great way to accelerate your studies, and network with a large group of international colleagues.

Accreditation

Strathclyde Business School is triple accredited by the three international accrediting bodies – AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. To gain accreditation by one of these bodies is an achievement in itself. To gain accreditation by all three bodies is a truly outstanding accomplishment and one of which we're proud.

The MBA has been accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research.

Entry requirements

Our selection process is designed to identify talented professionals from a wide range of academic, business and cultural backgrounds.

While there are formal requirements for entry listed below, we take into consideration:
- your potential
- your interpersonal and team working qualities
- the range and nature of your managerial experience

In order to assess these skills we ask you to complete a number of essays outlining your experience and aspirations alongside references supporting your work experience and academic record.

We may ask you to undertake a formal interview to discuss your achievements and aspirations. We also encourage you to visit the school or centre you’re applying to and to ask as many questions as you need.

Qualifications & experience

For entry to the MBA programme you must:
- hold a degree from a UK university, or equivalent academic qualification from a comparable non-UK institution. If you studied for your undergraduate degree at a non-UK institution we will need a copy of your degree transcript. Professional qualifications will also be considered.
- be at least 24 years of age.
- have a minimum of three years' full-time postgraduate experience where the management of people and resources has played a significant role.

Admissions testing

Although the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is not a standard requirement of our admissions process, strong verbal reasoning and numerical abilities are critical for the MBA and we may ask you to undertake such a test.

Competence in English

The MBA programme is highly interactive and requires a high level of competence in English speaking, writing, reading and understanding. A minimum score of 6 in IELTS (general or academic) or TOEFL 550 or iBT 79 is required if your first language is not English. We may consider applicants who fall slightly below these standards if they're willing to undertake pre-sessional study.

You can be exempt from the English Language Proficiency test if you meet one of the following conditions stipulated by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research in the 'Graduate Education Admission Regulations for Licensed Non-Federal Institutions':
1. You’re a native speaker of English who has completed your undergraduate education in an English medium institution in a country where English is the official language

2. You graduated from an English medium institution in a country where English is the official language. You can also provide evidence of having achieved a TOEFL score of 500 or its standardised equivalent approved by the Ministry, upon admission to the undergraduate program.

No matter how fluent your written and spoken English is, unless you meet one of the above criteria, as a UAE accredited programme, we cannot exempt you from the English Language Proficiency requirement.

Computer competence

In order to undertake the Diploma/MBA you need to be competent in word processing, the use of spreadsheets and in report writing.

We strongly recommend that you have access to your own computer. Guidelines for software and hardware are available from our UAE partner.

Learning & teaching

The Strathclyde International MBA is a face-to-face taught programme.

All classes are held on weekends and evenings at the Dubai and Abu Dhabi campuses and include:
- seminars on Fridays & Saturdays from 09:00 to 18:00 which are led by academics from the University of Strathclyde approximately once a month
- tutorial sessions of three hours, held once a week, either in the evening or on weekends. They are led by local counsellors who have been approved and appointed by Strathclyde.

The programme is structured over four semesters. There are two semesters a year and each semester is approximately five and a half months long.

Careers

We recognise that career development is one of the main reasons why people invest in an MBA. The MBA job market offers plenty of global opportunity but can be complex and challenging.

That's why we offer a dedicated careers service for MBA students. This consists of career planning and skills development as well as unlimited access to personal advice and coaching. Our careers service is delivered in-house and by a team of top consultants.

We work with you to complement your proactive job search efforts. We help you use your own particular career background and strengths to help with your next career move too.

You’ll have the knowledge of the global job market and a range of contacts to make it work for you.

However, the organisation is aware of the high esteem in which RDI is held by students worldwide and so the RDI name will continue as part of Arden University.

Professional Accreditation

The Financial Times has placed the University of Bradford School of Management's Distance Learning MBA in the world's top 10 in its Online MBA Ranking 2015.

We are in an elite group of less than 1% of business schools in the world to hold the triple accreditations of Equis, AMBA and AACSB.

Why Bradford?

The Bradford Distance Learning MBA is ranked by the Financial Times as one of the world's best online MBA programmes (World No.8) and rated No.1 in the world for alumni career progression.

The programme is aimed at intelligent, highly motivated managers who wish to equip themselves with the essential business and management skills required in the increasingly competitive, diverse and dynamic business environment.

As with all our MBAs, we offer students the flexibility to switch between modes of study. Distance learning students can choose to take certain modules alongside Full-time and Executive Part-time students in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions across our global campus. There is also flexibility in terms of how intensively you study. We advise that you study two modules every three months, tackling one unit per week – approximately 14-16 hours of study. However, if you are restricted on time, you can choose to just study one module at a time or even suspend your studies all together and restart at a later date.

While distance learning allows you to study at a time, place and pace to suit your needs we ensure that you will never feel like you are studying alone. Distance Learning MBA students have access to our Virtual Learning Environment and are provided with a variety of materials from textbooks and academic journal papers through to video clips and podcasts for each module. You are also expected to contribute to online discussion forums and tutorials with your tutor group and can network with staff and students our online social networking site - The Atrium.

Although studying largely independently, Distance Learning MBA students get all the benefits of being at a leading international business school and gaining a globally recognised qualification. You will also get access to all of our learning, careers and support services as well as our online library and academic expertise.

Rankings

Financial Times rankings for the School of Management:
-Our Distance Learning MBA ranked 11th in the world, 3rd in the UK in Online MBA rankings

Students who choose to take an elective module(s) in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions will have a wider range of choices, including modules such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Management Consulting and Global Supply Chain Management. Up to three modules may be taken in this way at no extra cost.

The management project is an integral part of the Bradford MBA and is often the most challenging and rewarding part of the programme. At the end of the taught programme you put into practice what you have learnt by investigating and reporting on an important management issue or opportunity. If you are sponsored by your employer, the project can relate to your workplace.

Otherwise, you may choose to use the project to deepen your knowledge of a different sector or organisation, or as a stepping stone to your next job. The project findings and recommendations are then written up in a 9,000-word dissertation.

Throughout the project you will be guided by an experienced academic and you will have access to the School of Management Effective Learning department. The Effective Learning service often proves to be very useful providing students with a clear understanding and guidelines on what is required in order to successfully complete their project.

Learning activities and assessment

Students are expected to take two subjects (modules) every three months.

Each module contains nine study units. Students typically progress by studying one unit from each module per week. This equates to approximately 14-16 hours of study per week. If you don't think that you have enough time to study two modules over the three month period you can always chose to study just one module, lightening your workload considerably.

If work or family life is particularly busy then you can even suspend your studies and restart at a later date. This flexibility means that students can complete a distance learning MBA in 2 to 6 years. We do however strongly advise that students study two modules every three months.

Study Abroad

You may decide you want to accelerate your studies, learn about a particular subject area, study alongside other University of Bradford School of Management students or simply broaden your horizons and spend some time studying overseas. You can do this by undertaking up to three block modules (i.e. 3-5 days of intensive study) at no extra cost (other than travel, accommodation and subsistence) at the School of Management or at any one of our partner institutions in Dubai and Singapore.

Career support and prospects

The University is committed to helping students develop and enhance employability and this is an integral part of many programmes. Specialist support is available throughout the course from Career and Employability Services including help to find part-time work while studying, placements, vacation work and graduate vacancies. Students are encouraged to access this support at an early stage and to use the extensive resources on the Careers website.

Discussing options with specialist advisers helps to clarify plans through exploring options and refining skills of job-hunting. In most of our programmes there is direct input by Career Advisers into the curriculum or through specially arranged workshops.

An MBA is an opportunity to either change career direction or consolidate experience then return and progress in a previous industry or job. The Financial Times Global MBA rankings show that, on average, 20% of alumni achieve board-level positions within three years of graduation.

On completion of the programme participants go into a wide variety of functions and sectors, including IT/Telecoms, Finance & Banking and Industry being amongst the most popular.

Strathclyde’s MBA is strategy-focused and blends theoretical and practical business learning. Our MBA is flexible, and responsive to the needs of working individuals. Our wide choice of electives can help you personalise the programme to suit your business interests. These elective classes can be studied in Athens, as well as in Glasgow or at our other international centres, to give you an international learning and networking experience.

The MBA project gives you an opportunity to examine in depth a managerial, organisational or environmental issue of your choice over an extended period of time. Our Executive MBA allows you to study whilst continuing with your career and allows you to implement your learning into work.

- monthly intensive seminars delivered by Strathclyde academics at our centre in Athens

Strathclyde Business School is triple accredited by the three international accreditation bodies – AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. To gain accreditation by one of these bodies is an achievement in itself. To gain accreditation by all three bodies is a truly outstanding accomplishment and one of which we're proud.

Entry at Diploma level may be offered to applicants who do not hold sufficient recognised degree level qualifications, but who do:
- hold non-degree/professional qualifications plus at least five years' varied management experience.
- have no formal qualifications but extensive and varied management experience (10 or more years).
- are exceptional candidates over the age of 24 with a minimum of two years' managerial experience. This is available only to candidates applying to routes other than full-time.

A minimum score of 6.5 in IELTS is required if your first language is not English. We may consider applicants who fall slightly below these standards if they're willing to undertake pre-sessional study.

Learning & teaching

Learning methods include:
- face-to-face teaching by Strathclyde University staff
- regular local counselling support with our partner in Greece
- home/private study with specially prepared core learning materials
- assignments and examinations set, marked or validated by Strathclyde University staff
