The Master in Economics and Finance is a graduate program, that allows students to complete their training in economics providing them with a thorough understanding of the role and working of the state in modern economies.

The Master is a full-time, intensive course, with a maximum enrollment of 20 students. The Master offers courses taught in English and it is accessible to students of all countries. The diploma, issued by Università Cattolica, is recognized as a second level Master’s degree by the Italian Government.

Learning objectives

The Master will allow students to acquire the needed knowledge and research experience in order to pursue further studies with a Ph.D. in Economics; allow them to integrate their academic experience with professional skills of theoretical and practical relevance.

Graduate students are invited to take part in the Seminar series, which is organized by the Department of Economics and Finance on a weekly basis. During the last two years, it has featured scholars from top European and U.S. Institutions, such as Northwestern University, University of Southern California, University of Maryland, European Central Bank, CEMFI-Madrid, Université de Toulouse, Tel Aviv University, Queen Mary College of London, and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Our research environment also benefits from many initiatives, such as the “Annual Lecture” in Political Economy, which, in recent years, has been delivered by prominent academics such as James Robinson (Harvard University), Peter Howitt (Brown University), Howard Rosenthal (Princeton University), and Daron Acemoglu (Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT).

Project work and final exam

The Master is granted upon the completion of all the course- work and of a research project by which the candidate shows her/his ability to dominate the topics covered in the coursework undertaken in the first three terms. Typically the research project takes the form of a research paper written under the supervision of a member of the Master faculty or of a researcher approved by the Director of the Master. Under certain circumstances, a student may have the opportunity to undertake an internship on a project that is evaluated by the Director of the Master being consistent with the Master goals. In these cases, the research paper can be substituted by an essay detailing the results achieved during the internship, to be written under the supervision of a member of the faculty and/or of the external tutor supervising the internship activity. Both in the case of a research paper and of an internship essay, the candidate will have to defend the results of her/his research during an oral final exam, in which the overall performance of the candidate in the Master will also be assessed.

The Master is taught entirely in English to a fairly small but varied class of students from all over the world, by a faculty that is very active in research and well integrated in international professional networks. Occasional mini-courses and lectures by leading international scholars, as well as a year-long seminar series complete our offer.

Focus on policy and finance

Besides all fundamental coursework for todays economists, our students will be able to take classes in both public/political economics and/or finance, gaining the expertise to professionally evaluate the current policy debate or to enter the world of finance.

Internship Periods

Internships in the industry once the Master’s classes are completed. They are professional incorporation internships and can be from 3 to 6 months. The school is in charge of coordinating costumized internships for the students both nationally and internationally.

Accreditation

Master in Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management by the University College of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts Sant Pol de Mar and the Universitat de Girona.

For students who are graduated by official college career also obtain the Diploma of Master in Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management from the University of Girona.

For students without official university studies obtain the university Diploma of Specialization in Culinary Arts Management.

EUHT StPOL has a study Help Fund for studies in its school. The aim of this fund is to facilitate the access to the educational programs to those candidates that, due to economic reasons, have difficulties to enroll. They are granted in a percentage basis of the total basic or academic cost of the course up to a 50% with basis in the academic record and the economic power of the candidate and of those who finance his studies.

The Master trains professionals to contribute to development cooperation with creativity, personality and competence by interpreting local and international events, interacting with stakeholders, identifying and managing environmentally and local culture-friendly interventions. The world loves American culture, but is deeply distrustful of American power and politics. At Radboud University, we offer critical insights into what America means. Our Master's program gives students the opportunity to become experts in the concept of ‘America' in a variety of fields: US history, literature, culture (including popular culture, film, theatre, political history, foreign policy, constitutional law, religion and social science. Radboud University's programme distinguishes itself from other's by emphasizing the cultural and political relations between the United States, its neighbours and Europe.

The open classroom experience is what teachers and researches of the Master`s program “North American Studies” want to create for their students. For an example of the experience, in the project “Politics & Culture of Liberation” students and teachers worked closely with the National Liberation Museum in Groesbeek, the Regional Archive in Nijmegen and the National Archives in Washington, D.C. America's cultural icons are the world's cultural icons. From Walt Disney to the Statue of Liberty, from Hollywood to Time magazine, and from Jack Kerouac to Philip Roth, the influence of American culture and literature around the world is huge. Our program allows students to critically explore the significance of American culture in countries around the globe. Aside from studying the variety of meanings assigned to American cultural products abroad, students will explore the diversity of the American cultural expressions themselves.

Transnational America: Politics, Culture and Society

With the so-called ‘transnational turn', American Studies increasingly looks beyond national borders. In this program you will explore the politics, culture and society of the United States within, outside and at its borders. Central themes are the exchange of cultural and political ideas between North America and Europe, and related issues in the field of Americanisation, globalisation, cultural mobility and political and cultural imperialism.

Study American issues with an interdisciplinary view

True to the tradition of American Studies, our program teaches students to approach issues from different angles and to think in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary ways. We also offer excellent internships, thanks to our global network. Furthermore, we are the only university in the Netherlands to teach oral communication skills in the American language throughout our Bachelor's program, so that students who go on to study for a Master's degree have near-native language abilities.

Literature and Cultures of North America in International Perspective
All students enrolled in this Master's specialisation take compulsory foundational courses. In addition, students take a compulsory Master's Thesis Colloquium and participate in Master's Thesis Workshops to help them structure their Master's Thesis research and support their writing process. There is an elective space in the specialisation to allow students to engage in an internship or engage in further courses. Options for elective courses include courses on Native Americans, African-American literature and the American borderlands.

Transnational America: Politics, Culture and Society
If you follow this specialisation, you will take several obligatory foundation courses. Program

The Master of Science in International Business Negotiation offers two semesters of courses that concentrate on both theory and practice.

The Master of Science in International Business Negotiation includes interactive courses such as Culture and Negotiation Strategy, Power and Leadership, and Introduction to Conflict Management among others.

Students will learn put theory into practice through courses such as Project Management and Negotiation Strategy and Company Observation.

The Master of Science in International Business Negotiation Curriculum:

The program consists of 2 consecutive semesters of courses (September – May) followed by a professional experience (from June onwards). The curriculum is developed around core courses and specialization courses in Business, Human Resources, Conflict Prevention and Resolution. It also includes French or foreign language classes.

French language classes:

French language lessons are mandatory for non-Francophone international students. Francophone students may choose German, Italian, Chinese, or Spanish.

Admission & Fees

The Master of Science in International Business Negotiation is both for students and professionals who show strong potential and have a bachelor’s degree in any field.

Admission requirements:

The program is open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with good academic performance and a good command of English.

Native English speakers or students who have had two years of courses taught in English are exempt. A GMAT score is optional, not mandatory.

No prior knowledge of French is needed; however French language classes are mandatory for non-French speakers as part of the program.

Rolling admission is offered from October 2016.

IÉSEG has a merit-based International Scholarship Program with a tuition waiver of 15 to 50% per year. Selection is based on the applicant’s previous academic performance and overall application portfolio.

The scholarship application is automatic; students do not need to apply separately.

In collaboration with New York University (NYU), the Palmer School of Library and Information Science at Long Island University (LIU) offers a unique 52-credit dual master's degree program that prepares you as a subject specialist/scholar-librarian in academic and research institutions or as an information specialist in a specialized library or information center. The program grants an ALA-accredited Master of Science in Library and Information Science from LIU's Palmer School and a Master of Arts or Science (in any of approximately 54 programs) from NYU's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences or from three programs within NYU's Steinhardt School: Costume Studies, Food Studies or Media, Culture, and Communication.

Program Highlights

-Students take approximately 13 fewer credits than would be required if they pursued each master's separately.
-Students are able to take Palmer School courses at any of our sites. All NYU courses are taught at NYU’s Washington Square Manhattan campus.

Academic librarians traditionally need two master’s degrees—a subject master’s and the MSLIS. Our dual degree with NYU offers this opportunity. Students apply to LIU’s Palmer School and NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science or NYU’s Steinhardt School of Media, Culture, and Communication. Once admitted to both universities, students apply to be a part of this unique program that offers a mentorship under the direction of a subject specialist librarian here at NYU’s Bobst Library. The entire program is offered at Palmer’s NYU site in Bobst Library. Students take a total of 13 fewer credits in the dual degree program than if they took each master’s separately.

Teaching Methodology

The Student participation and teamwork are an essential element in the development of the program. This deepens and enriches the training, as it complements the diversity of opinions and experiences of the participants. In this sense, good teamwork is essential in the development, preparation and presentation of the Business Plan as the FMT project in which all the skills and knowledge acquired during the development of the program are integrated. The project encourages the ability to develop strategic vision and entrepreneurial spirit of the Student.

Using a virtual campus provides permanent access to all the resources needed for learning, in addition to update information on the planning of courses, assessment of student progress and direct contact with the teaching staff.

Scholarship info

Aspire is committed to provide students with global education, and we believe that financing can help attract best-in-class students who are ambitious and deserve a merit-based scholarship. For incoming students, these scholarships are granted after careful consideration, including academic merit and the social-economic status of a student. The amount awarded is at the discretion of Aspire Business School Barcelona administration but cannot exceed 50% of the annual tuition fees of the program. All national, international and transfer students are eligible for the following grants. You can apply for ONE scholarship only, so we recommend that you review the conditions of each option carefully.

Candidates will be considered based on recommendation letters from former professors or colleagues and on their Personal Statement where the applicants will need to describe how pursuing the studies at ABS will affect their career and personal life. Candidates should also describe how the academic merit and professional success has provided them with leadership potential.
