Our programme is delivered by a group of world-renowned scholars, with expertise and practical experience in international marketing. It is highly international, with a faculty from over 10 countries and a diverse student body from all regions of the world.

The international scope of our marketing programme will appeal to students with or without a marketing background who wish to embark on a career in marketing. King’s is a research-intensive university and our programme makes reference to research findings in order to provide additional insights into international marketing. Various educational approaches are utilised to enable you to develop your decision-making skills and link marketing theory and practice such as case-study analysis, computer simulation, exercises and experiments as well as traditional lectures.

After completing a series of core modules you may pursue electives in a range of areas including brand management, digital and business-to-business marketing, and international marketing communications.

Our degree prepares you to undertake a critical analysis of strategic international marketing issues (planning, practice and theory). The programme is designed for people seeking a part-time route to an MSc International Marketing. You may be working for an organisation in a non-marketing capacity and be interested in employment in marketing. The Business School has a dedicated Social Marketing Unit that provides social marketing teaching, consultancy and research services. It aims to integrate marketing, health, environment and social science disciplines to support the development of social marketing in the UK and overseas.

Course content:

The course is designed to fit around your personal and professional commitments, with start dates throughout the year. You may determine the length of the course, which can vary between six months and four years, depending on your individual circumstances.

A compulsory Social Marketing module is taught over four consecutive days, with additional supervision and assessment time. On completion of this module you can choose to follow one of two routes:the work-based routeor the modules route.

You will have the opportunity to discuss the best combination of modules and projects with your tutor.

WORK-BASED PROJECT ROUTE

The work-based project can be completed at a pace that suits you and your employer (between six months and four years). It is based around your own professional interests and carried out under the supervision of the course team.

Should you decide to take this route, you will be required to produce a coherent account of an applied social marketing initiative.

The project provides an opportunity to create strategies to overcome the barriers that social marketing professionals face when creating complex behaviour change programmes.You will be expected to:
- identify a social marketing problem of your choice (in consultation with tutors)
- explore relevant social marketing/behaviour change models to provide insight into an audience in relation to the particular issue
- analyse the primary and secondary data, with reference to social marketing theory and literature
- draw sound conclusions from your investigation
- identify realistic and feasible social marketing recommendations, such as the development of a behavioural intervention or a review of the way a public service is provided.

While working on the project you will be offered individual learning support and consultation with the module tutor (face-to-face or by phone).

MODULES ROUTE

This route allows you to customise the course by choosing two other modules (in addition to the compulsory Social Marketing module) that reflect your particular interests. You have between six months and four years to complete the two modules.

Our programme is delivered by a group of world-renowned scholars, with expertise and practical experience in international marketing. It is highly international, with a faculty from over 10 countries and a diverse student body from all regions of the world.

The international scope of our marketing programme will appeal to students with or without a marketing background who wish to embark on a career in marketing. Fast-track marketing management MA/MSc

A fast-track route to the Marketing Management MA qualification is available for holders of the CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (or equivalent). Holders of this qualification will be exempt from all but two modules:
-For MA: Marketing Creativity and Innovation Marketing Dissertation
-For MSc: Quantitative Analysis for Marketing and Management Marketing Dissertation

The fees will be proportional to the number of credits studied. Dissertation (40 credits) Quantitative Analysis for Marketing Management (20 credits).

Accredited internship

All students on our full-time business Masters courses can apply to undertake the PG/MBA Internship Programme Reflective Practitioner Module. This is an 8 week unpaid accredited internship, which can be taken in addition to option modules and will help students to gain invaluable work experience. The internships, which are with London-based organisations, take place during the summer period. To apply, students must submit a completed application form and a copy of their updated CV to the Business Experience Team; the team then shortlist from the applications and conduct group meetings with the applicants.

Ultimately it is up to our internship employers to decide whether they would like to interview the candidate(s) and offer him/her an internship. We have received very positive feedback from both postgraduate students and employers and expect that the internship programme will continue to remain popular amongst our students.

Format

This is a 'conversion' Masters course, and we assume no prior study of marketing. You'll learn though formal classes and seminar sessions, as well as through group work and independent study. This course provides students with the theoretical foundations of marketing along with an added appreciation of the skills required in solving analytical and practical marketing problems.

Students will consider the use and application of management science techniques in a variety of marketing and business contexts through participation in courses in marketing management, marketing decision analysis, business statistics and forecasting, marketing research methods, and more advanced applications in credit risk management, problem solving and spreadsheet modelling skills and data mining.

This practical application of quantitative marketing, taught alongside the theoretical underpinnings of marketing aptly prepares students for careers as market analysts, business consultants, database managers and marketing researchers.
