The Barcelona GSE Competition and Market Regulation Program presents students with a learning progression, starting from the basic necessary conceptual frameworks and economic tools, and then introducing core issues in Competition Policy and Market Regulation with the help of leading specialists in each field.
Students will have a wealth of opportunities to complement their coursework with conferences and seminars in various fields of specialization. Chief among these is the Regulation and Competition Seminar Series, organized by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) Department of Economics and Business, the Comisión del Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones (CMT), and the Barcelona GSE. Seminars feature academics, regulators, and practitioners at the forefront of their fields discussing specific issues and presenting original research. In addition to providing a range of regulatory issue perspectives, seminars also give students the opportunity to network with top professionals in the industry.
Teaching faculty include many industry experts teaching in the current edition of the program, as well as Massimo Motta, who has returned from his stint as Chief Competition Economist at the European Commission. Professor Motta has been involved with the master program since its foundation and brings many years of experience both in the classroom and in the practice of competition policy.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a Master Degree in Specialized Economic Analysis awarded jointly with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The degree requires the successful completion of 60 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits of graduate courses (6 credits are equivalent to a 40 hour course), some compulsory and some elective. The students' final program must be discussed with and approved by the Master Director.

The first course of its kind in the UK, the Stem Cell & Regenerative Therapies: From Bench to Market MSc combines biological and medical science with business, law and bioethics. It is designed to develop expertise in the biological, commercial and regulatory aspects of cellular therapy, along with its application in biomedicine and equips students to pursue a business-based career in cellular therapy or related disciplines.
Cellular therapies have attracted much interest in recent years in virtually all disciplines of medicine with over 2,700 clinical trials enrolled between 2000 and 2010. As of today, http://www.clinicaltrials.gov has over 27,800 registered cellular therapy clinical trials. The complexity of issues relating to cell manufacturing, the underlying regulatory framework, reimbursement and viable business models, each represent challenges that profoundly undermine the timing and the delivery of a viable healthcare model. Our programme will provide tools that aid the understanding of these complex issues within an integrated and commercial context.
This one-year advanced study course explores the biological, regulatory and business aspects of cellular therapy in the fields of biomedicine. You will study a range of modules that include Stem Cells in Cellular Therapies & Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapies in Immunology. You will also complete a dissertation related to business strategy development for cellular therapy.
You will study modules totalling 180 credits throughout the year, with 60 credits coming from the 15,000 – 18,000-word dissertation.

This interdisciplinary program provides an in-depth study of modern and contemporary art and the market from the mid 19th century to the present day. Led by an expert faculty, the integrated program combines study of art history with the role played by external factors in the art industry. The program explores how the art market has intersected with modern and contemporary art practices as art works have changed hands, setting precedents for both institutional and private collectors. The program puts particular focus on the development of connoisseurship skills through object-based learning and investigative cataloguing and writing in combination with the study of current art business practices and the market. Biofluid mechanics applies engineering, mathematical and physical principles of fluids to solve complex and multifaceted problems primarily in biology and medicine, but also in aerospace and robotics.
Our new MRes course covers a wide range of multidisciplinary training on the kinematics and dynamics of fluids related to biological systems, medical science, cardiovascular devices, numerical modelling and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), focusing on research. The MRes differs from an MSc in that you'll have the opportunity to perform multidisciplinary research for a longer time, preparing you for a research career and equipping you with world-class research knowledge.
The course is taught by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, with input from other departments across the faculty and the University.
During the course, you'll be supported by a strong team of academics with worldwide connections and you'll be offered a unique training and innovative teaching and learning environment.
This one-year programme consists of compulsory and optional classes in the first two semesters. Each class has timetabled contact hours, delivered mainly in lectures, laboratories and tutorials.
