The Dissertation gave me the experience in managing a big project, and the structure of the masters means that you have to be very disciplined in managing a variety of tasks. These are useful skills in the workplace. I enjoyed my time at Nottingham and the MSc Risk Management has been of benefit to my role with Deloitte.

Structure and content

The programme has been designed around the specific themes of Innovation & Technology Management. The units are structured to provide a strong and coherent narrative. The introductory unit takes a high level look at innovation management, introducing the key themes and concepts that will be explored in more depth throughout the year. Subsequent units are focused on an aspect of innovation such as: creativity; strategy; new product development; and commercialisation. The Master is primarily going to appeal to international students, "free movers" or those from our partner universities or for high-potential foreign engineers who are looking for an international career in the domain of finance. This program leads to a Master degree and a Diplôma accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Objective

This Master’s degree covers the whole chain of quantitative finance, from theoretical aspects to the application in a professional setting. The chain can be described as follows:

o The theoretical teaching of this Master is very thorough, covering everything needed to know in the associated professions. As a consequence, the students are very adaptable within the work market.

Practical information
The Master’s degree counts for 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) in total and lasts two years. The training lasts 1316 hours (646 hours in M1 and 670 hours in M2). The semesters are divided as follows:
o M1 courses take place from September until June and count for a total of 60 ECTS
o M2 courses take place from September until mid-April and count for a total of 44 ECTS
o A five-month internship (in France) from mid- April until mid- September for 16 ECTS. Usual indemnities are around 1000 € per month.

Contact time

Students on all courses are required to attend Study Schools in Aberystwyth. For most students this means attending three schools of approximately 4-5 days duration during the course of your studies. For the rest of the time you will work through specially designed self-study module packs supported by online learning materials.

Assessment

The programme is assessed on the basis of coursework in part One and the dissertation in Part Two. A variety of assignments in Part One, including reports, essays, presentations and case studies enable you to relate theoretical knowledge to your own workplace.

The World Health Organisation estimated that in 2012 air pollution was associated with seven million premature deaths worldwide. This finding more than doubles the previous estimates and also confirms that air pollution is now the world's largest single environmental health risk.

As part of the Global Air Pollution & Health: Management and Science MSc, you will receive training from leading air quality and health experts who currently advise the World Health Organisation, the UK Government and the European Commission. You will gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the contemporary theory and practice of air quality and its management.
