The Joint Master in Global Economic Governance and Public Affairs takes place in Rome, Berlin and Nice. The programme is focused on how to assess, manage and enhance private and public institutions’ governance with a wide range of economic and digital intelligence tools.

The programme starts in Rome (October to December). Courses will give an introduction to Global Governance, focusing on the context and challenges of economic governance and policy in the 21st century.
The Master continues in Berlin (January to March). Teaching will be concentrating on new forms of transnational and interregional governance as a way forward towards Sustainable Development in the context of major climate and demographic changes.
Studying in Berlin, one of the most dynamic and inspiring cities of the 21st Century, helps students to analyse how institutions, corporations, foundations and research centers are preparing the transition towards climate and demographic changes through innovative economic, social and environmental initiatives. Courses will discuss topics such as energy transition and sustainable finance. Case studies will review public-private partnership and innovative governance to ensure sustainable development.
Courses conclude in Nice (April to June). A special focus will be laid on Policy Intelligence, inciting participants to investigate how far the digital society enables transforming economic data into policy knowledge. As part of their academic requirements, students will complete a final master thesis.

As software systems become an ever more important part of everyday life, the dependability of these systems is becoming ever more critical.
The unique, two-year Joint Master programme, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Msc in Advanced Systems Dependability (DEPEND) is offered by Maynooth University in Ireland, the University of St. Andrews in Scotland (UK), and the Université de Lorraine in Nancy (France). The course provides students with the knowledge, skill, and in-depth technical understanding of the key topics of safety, reliability, availability, and security of software-based systems. This is achieved by bringing together the theory and practice of software development through research projects and work experience in both industrial and research settings.
Students attend two of the three universities during the course, spending one year at each. Annual summer schools are an important element of the course, and these take place at a different university each year. The 120 ECTS course consists of taught modules, projects & dissertations, experiential learning activities (work placements), and opportunities to explore the culture of each country.
On successful completion of the course, students are awarded a Joint M.Sc. degree by a consortium of the three universities; the course is accredited in all three countries.

What makes MathMods so special is its peculiar mobility scheme, that is the fact that our students will be spending their postgrad years in two or even three different European countries. You'll be indeed studying in central Italy for your first semester, then move to Austria or Germany for the second term, and finally move again to 1 of our 5 partners for your second year, based on the mobility path you'll be assigned.
Upon graduation students will be awarded a Joint Master's degree (or double, depending on where they spend their Year2).
Since its establishement in 2008 MathMods was funded by the EU Commission firstly through the Erasmus Mundus programme action 1 A (project no. 2008-0100), and later through the Erasmus+ Key Action 1 programme, project no. 2013-0227. We're currently applying for the Erasmus+ Call for Proposals 2018 to continue awarding Erasmus Munuds scholarships to our future generations. Semester 1 focuses on Theory and is to be spend in L'Aquila (Italy)

Mathematical modelling refers to the use of mathematics and related computational tools to bring real-world, challenging and important socio-economic and industrial problems into a form simple enough so that a good solution can be found in a reasonable time, while keeping the relevant features of the problem. Constructing models requires knowledge of enough mathematical theory, methods of solution which are really effective and efficient, computational tools at hand to do it, some knowledge of the field of application, and communicative skills to understand the important elements from experts in that field. Our master's programme tries to put together all these elements to produce professionals able to work in different relevant fields with the highest intellectual level and state-of-the-art tools.
Effective modelling and simulation is an art that require a lot of practice, so that problem solving, project development and team work are aspects that should be highlighted in any training programme, as our Consortium knows perfectly. On the other hand, the abstraction behind the specific application is necessary to realise that the same base tools can be applied, with the needed changes, to very different situations in various engineering fields.
The language of the whole course is exclusively English at each of our five universities. Students must also attend (and acquire the relating credits of) a course of basic Italian language (first semester) and German language (second semester). Students will also have the opportunity to attend local language courses during their second year (spent at one of the five partners).
The area of applied mathematics on which this project is focused is a fundamental scientific field for a number of key technologies and sciences. The areas of the proposed tracks connect very well with various branches of the European high-tech industry, and one of the goals of the project is to enhance these connections by means of the release of well prepared professionals and researchers.
Career opportunities for graduates will typically arise in research and development laboratories, especially those defining and testing numerical models and procedures, either working for an specific sector or with a broader scope. Also, in big or medium size enterprises possessing their own research department or a division with an orientation towards research, in public or privately held Sector Technology Centres, and at computing centres involved in data processing or the creation of numerical codes for the industry.

The graduates will be able to apply successfully for PhD programmes if they wish so, as has happened for the three already completed cycles. In all the countries of the Consortium members, the programme has been validated as enabling the holder of the MSc degree to enter a local PhD programme. A good percentage of our students seem indeed to prefer pursuing a PhD before going to the industry or returning to their countries of origin. The intended level of the programme, together with the initial selection of the students, allows affirming that most of them could follow a successful academic career, after a suitable PhD.
The Brussels-Washington joint degree in Political Economy is an innovative one-year programme combining the strengths of two internationally renowned institutions. This two-year studentship at Bristol Veterinary School provides a link between feline clinical and research work, with an opportunity for involvement in multiple projects and completion of an MSc by research on a project entitled ‘The impact of feline degenerative joint disease on mobility and quality of life in cats’ using data from the Bristol Cats study. The MSc will be undertaken on a part-time basis over 2 years with the remainder of time being devoted to a range of feline-related work such as production of the e-newsletter Feline Update, delivery of CPD and advice to veterinarians, involvement in teaching, journal club, clinical rounds, diagnostic laboratory work and involvement in other research projects ongoing during the fellowship. The studentship provides an insight into an academic/research career and is particularly suitable for a veterinary graduate with some clinical experience who is interested in feline medicine and research. The MSc by Research project:
Feline degenerative joint disease (DJD) is a common, but challenging condition in cats, with prevalence estimates ranging from 61% to as high as 99% of cats. Whilst DJD can lead to reduced mobility and pain, with significant potential impacts the cat’s quality of life (QoL), little is known about risk factors for this condition. Diagnosis of DJD primarily depends upon owners detecting behavioural changes in activity in their pet. Differences in activity between cats with DJD and normal cats have been detected using accelerometry. Early detection of DJD would allow a multimodal approach to delaying/halting progression of the disease, thereby improving the cat’s QoL. The aims of this project are to: 1) evaluate risk factors associated with the occurrence of feline DJD, 2) identify differences in the activity profiles of cats with signs of DJD, compared with disease free cats and determine whether accelerometry is more sensitive than owner report at detecting DJD and 3) investigate changes in the QoL with this condition. The project will use data from the Bristol Cats study, veterinary orthopaedic examinations, owner reported signs of altered activity, accelerometry and QoL questionnaires to realise these research aims.

The Joint Master Degree Program in Cultural and Creative Industry Management is collectively designed and developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and University of Southern California (USC). This program integrates the advantages and resources of two mother universities to cultivate future industry leaders with creative spirit and thoughts. This variant of our established MSc Strategic Public Relations & Communication Management course is delivered jointly with our partner Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain. This course provides students with a solid international perspective on strategic communication and provides an opportunity to study in both Stirling, UK, and Barcelona, Spain.
The MSc Strategic Communication & Public Relations is an interdisciplinary, advanced level course taught by established academics and practitioners. It offers a hands-on approach while at the same time providing you with the theoretical foundations necessary to practise public relations at a managerial level.

The course covers a range of modules including public relations and communication management theory, strategic public relations planning, public diplomacy and strategic communication, media relations, digital media, public affairs and advocacy, and research methods.

Methods of assessment include case studies, timed assignments, essays, presentations and reports. Students also complete a 12,000-word dissertation.
In REF2014 Stirling was placed 6th in Scotland and 45th in the UK with almost three quarters of research activity rated either world-leading or internationally excellent.
