If so, the Double Master in Journalism, Politics & International Studies is the degree programme for you.
Born from the Alliance between the University of Warwick and Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, this unique double degree offers advanced multidisciplinary training in the fields of Politics and International Studies and Journalism in two world-leading departments in these fields.
Unlike the other Double Degrees on offer, this programme partners Politics and International Studies not with another politics department, but with the School of Media, Film and Journalism (MFJ) at Monash in order to bridge the disciplinary difference between both subject areas. On this programme, you will follow the taught portion of a single MA in PAIS, the taught portion of the Master of Journalsim in MFJ, and combine your cross-disciplinary training in a final joint dissertation project of 15,000-18,000 words.
By following one of the MA programmes in PAIS, you will gain a solid critical foundation in politics and international studies, developing your analytical framework for studying international political phenomena. By following the Master of Journalism in MFJ, you will receive advanced training in the theory and practice of modern international journalism.
This dual foundation is more than the sum of its parts, however. In addition to synthesising what you learn in each discipline, you will have valuable international experience and increase your ability to adapt to new cultures and systems by studying both in the UK and Australia. You will also collaborate directly with your counterparts at both institutions through combined virtual workshops and conferences. Additionally, you will not be restricted to a traditional dissertation format: you will have the opportunity to create a piece of journalism in combination with a shorter 'written up' research section if you choose.
This blend of international, cross-disciplinary, theoretical, and practical training will prepare you well for a career in political or international journalism or further research in this fertile area where politics and the media meet.
This programme is for people who are interested in taking an international and comparative perspective on educational issues. We offer two pathways on the International Studies in Education, the general International Studies in Education and the Education and Development specialist pathway. The specialist pathway shares the same core themes and outcomes, however it has a distinctive focus and different compulsory modules.
The International Studies in Education programme may be of interest to teachers, headteachers/principals, education administrators, and those working with non-governmental organisations and international agencies that play a role in formal and non-formal education. It will enable you to have a critical understanding of key debates surrounding education as an international issue and to make analytical comparisons between educational issues in different contexts, including your own.
This programme is designed for people who want to gain an international perspective on education. You will be studying with a wide range of people from different countries, with diverse career aspirations, and with varied levels of experience. What you will all have in common is an interest in education, and a desire to understand its functions in different parts of the world, and as a global phenomenon.
Global social justice is a theme of all strands of this programme.
The Education and Development pathway is in collaboration with the International Development Department in the School of Government and Society. It follows the same broad lines of the core programme, but has a different focus and different compulsory modules.

Module sessions run in weekly three-hour blocks. In a typical three-hour session, there will be a mixture of tutor presentation, group discussions and exercises, and independent research. We aim for a stimulating variety, and to take advantage of the international nature of the group, we encourage student-to-student learning to develop a comparative and international perspective. There are also opportunities for one-to-one tutorials with lecturers.
Assessment for the modules is typically comprised of one 4,000 word written assignment. For some modules, this will take the form of a traditional essay based mainly on an analysis of relevant literature. Innovative assessment approaches used in some modules include producing a written curriculum, reflections on school visits, or diaries. In the first term, there will be an early opportunity to submit a short piece of written work; the tutor will provide constructive feedback but a grade will not be assigned or counted. The dissertation is for 15,000 words in length, and usually includes some empirical research as well as literature review.

The Warwick-NTU Double Masters Programme presents an innovative course of study offering the opportunity to live and study in two culturally diverse countries and regions. You will experience the best of both worlds in conceptual training, empirical relevance, and policy application, gaining an invaluable dual perspective.
Studying in Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick and the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) offers you the opportunity to study global perspectives in two major international regions with two highly prestigious departments, renowned for their robust research backgrounds and detailed policy and empirical expertise in the field of International Studies.
In year one in PAIS, you will be exposed to its acclaimed expertise in the political and methodological aspects of Politics and International Studies, providing a foundation for RSIS's global security focus in your year two studies. Additionally, there will be opportunities to enhance your language skills, including the acquisition of Asian language competencies. Finally, of course, as a Double Masters programme graduate, you will benefit from gaining two Masters degrees from globally respected European and Asian universities.
You will read core subjects in such fields as International Relations, International Political Economy, and Strategic Studies. There will also be research methodology courses, as well as the opportunity to take electives and a focussed research project in relevant subject areas. Flexibility is in place to ensure that learning across years one and two at PAIS and RSIS proceeeds in a progressive and structured way. This course has the potential to lead into careers in the public sector, government ministries, education, the police or armed forces, banking, business, the media, and more.
The Master of International Studies (MIntSt) degree requires at least twelve months of full-time study, or the equivalent in part-time study, and entails an intensive programme of postgraduate coursework and research in the multi-disciplinary field of International Studies. The aim is to develop in candidates the analytical skills and knowledge essential to understanding the contemporary world.
Degree candidates are required to master a core curriculum of four taught papers - INTS 502International Politics, INTS 503 The Global Economy, INTS 504 International Legal Issues, and INTS 509 Global Peace and Conflict - and write a supervised research essay of between 18,000 and 20,000 words.
This degree may prepare candidates for leadership roles in professions that require international expertise: diplomacy, the public service, teaching, journalism or business. It can also serve as a foundation qualification for graduates interested in advancing to the PhD.
You may enrol in the MIntSt degree at the beginning of semester one (February) or semester two (July) each year.
Building on a strong history of Erasmus student exchange at the undergraduate level, the University of Warwick and University of Konstanz have created a Double Masters programme. This collaborative programme combines the theoretical-analytical approach characteristic of PAIS with the analytical-practical approach characteristic of the Politics and Public Administration (PolVer) department at Konstanz.
The Double Degree is based on the 2-year MA in Politics and Public Administration programme at Konstanz and any of the 1-year MAs taught in PAIS (except Research in Politics and International Studies). The year spent in PAIS replaces one year of study at Konstanz, making the total normal length of this programme 24 months. All of the core and a wide range of optional courses at Konstanz will be taught in English, so while knowing German is desirable, it is not essential to undertaking this programme of study.
By taking this Double Degree, you will benefit from studying your subject from two different yet compatible perspectives in two of the top Political Science departments in Europe. Studying in two different countries is inherently beneficial in developing personal skills and experience as well, not to mention enhancing your adaptability to new situations. Furthermore, you will be able to apply these skills and your academic knowledge by taking advantage of the extensive internship network maintained by Konstanz, if you choose to.
Combine a year of study in the heart of England and a year studying by the sea in Cataluña at two of Europe's leading politics departments through two exciting pathways offered jointly by Warwick and the Political and Social Sciences Department at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona.
Studying in two different countries is inherently beneficial: in addition to exploring your subject from two different starting points, you will develop your intercultural skills and experience and enhance your ability to adapt to new situations. Furthermore, you will be able to improve your prospects beyond the MA course as employers and reputable universities worldwide recognise the academic excellence of Warwick and UPF graduates.
During your year at Warwick, you can choose from 11 specialisations by following any of our single-year MA programmes (excluding Research in Politics and International Studies). During your year at UPF, you will follow the Masters of Research in Political Science. At both universities, you will have the opportunity to specialise further by choosing from a selection of optional modules in addition to your core requirements, culminating in a research dissertation on a topic of your choice.
You will be able to start your studies either at Warwick or at UPF. You will follow the taught component of your first year before moving on to your second year university; the summer in between is a great opportunity to take advantage of internship opportunities in the UK, Spain, or further afield. During the second year, you will follow a second round of taught modules before moving on to a joint 15,000 word dissertation, allowing you to combine the knowledge and insight gained from both institutions into one jointly-marked piece of academic research.
