This programme is closely associated with the research carried out within the Institute of Management Research, where the focus is on research into relationship management, institutional dynamics, decision making and innovative management. You will become familiar with both the theoretical and practical aspects of your special subject. The programme combines a thorough training in methodology with action-based learning: you apply the theory you have learned to concrete cases and learn to develop appropriate solutions. And, in our Visa Skills Lab, students use computers to make scenario analyses and simulate decision-making processes within organizations.

- Truly international
The education and research training we provide are internationally oriented. Our students have the opportunity to take part in a Master’s level project on European Human Resource Management, a cooperative venture among six leading European business schools and universities. Here, students work in a multi-cultural team and follow a consultancy in-company project in one of the six countries involved.

Programme outline

The Master's specialisation International Management consists in two semesters of 2 blocks each (Semester 1 from September to January, Semester 2 from February to July) at the School of Management. The second block of the second semester is reserved for the final Master's thesis. As a whole, the programme is made up of 60 ECs* with 18 ECs allocated for the Master's thesis. Learning activities and assessment

Teaching on the full-time and executive programmes involves a combination of formal lectures, group discussions, tutorials, seminars and directed reading. Generally the programmes aim to integrate applied and theoretical knowledge with assessment processes that test both knowledge of the disciplines and their application. Each module represents approximately 100 hours of study time, of which typically 24 hours is contact time with the module tutor(s) and the remaining 76 hours is made up of pre-reading, directed reading, preparatory work and assessment.

Methods of assessment are varied and linked to learning requirements. They include open and closed book examination, essays, coursework assignments and case studies.

STUDY TRIPS

Students will take part in an international study trip of one week in one European Fashion Capital. They will have the opportunity to meet with leading industry professionals and visit companies in the fashion, design and luxury industries.

During the company visits students will work on a project relating to one of these industries and in alignment with their future career ambitions.

INTERNSHIP

Each student will undertake an internship of a minimum of three months in a company of their choice at the end of the classroom part of the program. The internship will contribute directly to the content of the Final Management Project and may take place anywhere in the world.

FINAL MANAGEMENT PROJECT

The second year of the program is dedicated to the Final Management Project which will be undertaken under the supervision of a GGSB professor.
Students will focus on a management aspect of the fashion, design and luxury industries; they are also encouraged to choose the subject of the Final Management Project in coherence with their future career goals. It is possible to complete the project in parallel with an employment or an internship in France or abroad.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Foreign language skills are essential in a globally competitive business environment. The program is taught in English, and no prior knowledge of French is required to attend the program. Students have the possibility of learning French or another foreign language such as Spanish or Chinese during the program.
This language component, although not compulsory, is highly recommended for students who intend to pursue an international career, since companies in the Fashion, Design and Luxury industry are currently recruiting personnel speaking the language of the country in which they are based, in addition to English and in-demand languages like Chinese or Russian.

Management Research: This module analyses the philosophical basis for research in the management sciences, and examines a number of key methodological issues and approaches. Research designs for both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies are developed, including interviews, case studies, focus groups, surveys and experiments.

International Marketing: The globalization of companies is the involvement of customers, producers, suppliers, retailers and other stakeholders in the global marketing process. International marketing reflects the trend of companies selling products and services across national boundaries. This module provides an overview of contemporary international marketing issues and trends as well as the international marketing planning process. On completion, students will be conversant with the theories, instruments, realities, debates and recent developments in the field, and be capable of researching, devising and applying solutions to key decisions regarding international market entry strategies and the development and management of global brands.

Consumer Behaviour in a Global & Digital World: This module will introduce students to the main theories which purport to explain consumer behaviour from the perspective of gaining an understanding of the consumer as an individual as well as how consumers are influenced by their cultural environment. Given that the internet has become an essential part of modern day life this module will provide students with an understanding of how consumer behaviour is impacted as a result of changes in the way goods and services are marketed and sold online. This module also examines the critical issues and trends whereby the internet has changed consumer behaviour spanning across traditional/geographic boundaries.

Finance for Managers: This module is designed for those who aim to achieve a basic understanding of financial management and control, and who require an understanding of finance in order to manage an organisation effectively. Financial planning and control are central themes, as well as the appraisal techniques of investment projects.

International Marketing Communication: This module examines the processes by which integrated marketing communications (IMC) programs are planned, developed and executed. Individual communication vehicles included in an Integrated Marketing Communication plan are explored.

- Career Perspective for Strategic Human Resource Management
The Master's specialisation in Human Resource Management focuses on new insights into personnel and organisation issues. This involves, among other things, using the human resources concept and resource-based staff and organisation management. In addition, topical themes are addressed such as competence management, training management and culture management. The Master's specialisation in Human Resource Management is therefore interesting for students who want to contribute to the development and implementation of personnel management in organisations in the role of adviser, scientific researcher or staff member.

- Career Perspective for International Management
The IM programme prepares students for a position as an International Manager or an International Professional in international business. The manager or professional is able to use a scientific methodological framework to analyse developments in the international external and internal environment of MNEs by looking at management processes from a cross-cultural point of view.

- Career Perspective for Business Analysis and Modelling
Most of the students in the BAM specialisation and in the two-year European Masters in System Dynamics (of which BAM is the Nijmegen component) will find jobs at advisory bureaus or the strategic planning departments of large companies.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

This programme addresses, from an international perspective, the various elements of the hospitality industry and their interrelationships.

You will graduate equipped with the skills to evaluate and analyse the international hospitality sector from a managerial, operational and organisational perspective.

The structure of our Euromasters programme includes the opportunity to undertake a placement in industry between the two years of study.

This experience gives students (particularly those with little prior work experience) a significant advantage in terms of employability upon graduation.
