We are an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which informs our teaching and your learning.
The course is suitable if you are looking to convert from another subject area and pursue a future career in hospitality or if you already have a grounding in hospitality or related subject areas such as business, management, events, tourism or sport.
Full-time students attend workshops two days per week, while the part-time route usually requires one day per week. Some modules may be delivered intensively over several consecutive days.

This is a broad course that prepares you for a successful management career in the international hospitality, events and tourism industries. The innovative learning experience on this course is very much student-centred and interactive. You will take part in multicultural group work, case studies, workshops, seminars, lectures, events and one-to-one tutorials. Alumni and senior industry professionals contribute to the programme through guest lectures. You will have the opportunity to be personally mentored by an industry leader.
The tutors are internationally renowned for their research and consultancy activities, and their excellent links with hotel, tourism and events industries. They bring commercial expertise into the classroom to inform you of contemporary developments taking place in hospitality and tourism industries.
Assessment is based predominantly on individual coursework and the dissertation. There is an examination in the Strategic Financial Management module.
Each year, there is a series of field trips to events such as the World Travel Market and visits to destinations, attractions, hotels, museums and the corporate office of a leading international hotel company.
Field trips are optional and are paid for by the student.
The full-time mode involves approximately 15 hours of contact time per week, but in addition there is a significant amount of independent and group study time. You will therefore be expected to take a great deal of responsibility for your own learning and to manage your time effectively.

For full-time students, the taught element is normally completed over a nine month period starting in October. Part-time students will normally attend on a one day a week basis and complete the taught element in two years. Students who complete the taught element of the course, in part or in its entirety, may graduate with either a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. Students wishing to complete the MSc award must complete the research element, which comprises of a dissertation. Full-time students will normally complete this in the three months that follow the taught element, whilst part-time students complete this during the course of an academic session.

The course starts with an induction period of three days duration. As a full time student you will complete the master’s degree in three semesters / one calendar year. Part time students will complete a maximum of two modules per semester and it will take six semesters 2 to 2½ years.
A key strength of the MSc is that it is modular in structure and delivered in blended learning mode, with all modules being taught in 3 day intensive blocks.
Our novel delivery is designed to fit around your home and work life as a mature student.
