The practical, theoretical and numerical skills learnt through the programme, as well as the global perspective that will be gained through classroom learning and discussions, will leave you well qualified for a range of finance related professions. We expect graduates to take up positions with companies like the Big 4, with investment and commercial banks; market and consumer research centres; fund management firms; energy utilities and consultancies, as well as with public sector departments responsible for the finance sector, energy and climate-change policy. The School is a recognised partner institution by the Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA) Institute. Equally the School is recognised as a Centre of Excellence in the provision of postgraduate education in finance and investment by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

The CII works with regulators, educational and trade bodies together with major corporate organisations across the globe to help raise professional standards. You are encouraged to take professional exams during your time on the course in order to maximise your potential for progression within your chosen career path. The cost of sitting professional exams is in addition to your normal course fees.

This course is linked with the Chartered Bankers Institute and the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT). During the course you study modules such as International Treasury Management, which is of particular relevance to professional qualification. The course is designed to provide the technical and practical skills necessary for professionals working in international finance. If you successfully complete the CertITM and this course you are eligible for direct entry onto the MCT advanced diploma, subject to work experience.

This module develops your abilities to critically evaluate and appraise published research and develop your own research skills. It provides the key steps in developing your understanding of the nature of the postgraduate dissertation and approaches to undertaking one. On completion of the module you formulate and undertake your own research project.
