The Full-Time Rotman MBA program is an intense program that combines 16 months of academic study and 4 months for an internship . - First Year: Foundations
Beginning in September, the first year of the program is divided into two core terms focused on building your MBA toolkit in the major functional areas of business. These core terms are bracketed by shorter foundational and capstone terms that are designed to introduce and reinforce our unique approach to problem solving and decision-making.

Capstone Course:
Unique to Rotman, the Capstone Course allows you to apply your modelling and problem solving skills to business problems that corporations are currently facing. Working directly with companies and raw data, you analyze a messy business predicament and develop strategic recommendations to present to the organization’s executives.

Self-Development Lab (SDL):
The Self-Development Lab (SDL) has been carefully designed to give you highly personalized feedback on your behavioural performance, communication style, and personal presence through a series of intensive, individual coaching sessions and small group workshops.

You will be guided by experts, including trained psychologists, professional playwright and former management consultants, to develop and nurture your self-awareness and the interpersonal skills that are key to becoming an effective collaborative problem-solver.

It is an advanced programme designed for students with a good first degree in Arabic or with a good university degree who also know Arabic. The fundamental objective is to make Arabic culture and literature accessible to a wider body of postgraduate students and to provide them with training in the study of literature. Students develop an advanced understanding of Arabic literature and gain detailed knowledge of its past and present. The syllabus combines the literary approaches of comparative literature with in-depth study of Arabic literature. Teaching & Learning

All courses are taught in English, and essays and presentations are also done in English. All courses apart from "Theories and Techniques of Comparative Literature" involve reading some original Arabic texts.

Most courses are taught in seminar groups. These demand active participation by students, e.g. by giving presentations and by discussion with other students in the class, in order to develop research potential, original thinking and, by the tutor's direction, structured knowledge of the topic.

Classes are one two-hour session each week; in some cases an additional tutorial hour is added. In addition students are encouraged to attend lectures and seminars organised by the AHRB Centre for Asian and African Literature and the London Middle East Institute.

Destinations

A postgraduate degree in MA Arabic Literature from SOAS provides students with competency in language skills and intercultural awareness and understanding. Familiarity with the region will have been developed through a combination of the study of language, history, cinema, politics, economics or law. Graduates of this programme will develop their ability to engage with and explore relationships between indigenous aesthetics of the region and contemporary literary theories. Some graduates leave SOAS to pursue careers directly related to their study area, while others have made use of the intellectual training for involvement in analysing and solving many of the problems that contemporary societies now face.

Postgraduate students gain linguistic and cultural expertise enabling them to continue in the field of research or to seek professional and management careers in the business, public and charity sectors. They leave SOAS with a portfolio of widely transferable skills which employers seek, including written and oral communication skills; attention to detail; analytical and problem solving skills; and the ability to research, amass and order information from a variety of sources. Graduates can use their skills in Arabic and literary study in a variety of occupations, particularly those in which deep knowledge of Arabic intellectual culture and a trained mind are an advantage.

WHAT ARE THE KEY STRENGTHS OF THIS PROGRAM?

The MBA offers a 500 hour general management program in a triple-accredited International Business School.
The Grenoble Graduate School of Business MBA is highly applied in content, delivered by a team that brings together academic specialists together with managers and consultants from a wide range of sectors.

PROGRAM DELIVERY: FULL-TIME STRUCTURE

The course modules are taught over one academic year from September to the end of June.
The class sessions take place on a regular basis from Monday to Friday. Upon successful completion of these modules, participants will begin their Final Management Project. Students normally work part- or full-time during this phase. The choice of location for the project is entirely the student's own.

Foreign Language classes: the Full-Time delivery includes optional foreign language, especially French.

Program

PHASE 1 CORE COURSES

The program is a balanced and challenging one, equipping participants with numerical and analytical skills, communication and interpersonal skills, plus insights into current managerial issues in geopolitics, macroeconomics and governance. Through regular group work on cases and individual assignments on management dilemmas, students will develop their expertise in budgetary and financial management as well as in people management. Strategic analysis and Negotiations skills are developed through face-to-face team negotiations to resolve authentic and complex cases.

Personal Development Week in Grenoble Each Year -

Students from each campus are invited to attend this week together, enabling students from 4 centers to network and to attend seminars and conferences together on key management questions. Topics covered typically include Conflict Resolution, Interview Techniques, Radical Career Change, Salary Negotiations, and Effective Leadership.

Global Management Challenge -

The Global Management Challenge simulation is one of the highlights of the core courses. Small teams of MBA students will compete in a complex management simulation against leading business and engineering schools, firstly in France followed by international play-offs in the final rounds. The decision-making is intense and the experience is a roller-coaster ride of changing share price, volatile business environments, and exchanges - often heated! - with fellow team members.

In 2016 all full-time Grenoble students will visit Barcelona, Spain for the International Human Resources module.

PHASE 2 SPECIALIZATIONS

From a menu of up to 8 alternative choices, students can personalize their MBA program for 20% of their total class sessions. The content is focused on professional management activity, such as Management Consulting, or management in a range of functional areas. For many participants, the specialization choice will also determine the focus of the Final Management Project: for example, choosing a Finance elective can lead directly to a project in the area of Finance.

PHASE 3 FINAL MANAGEMENT PROJECT

During this phase, program participants are free to locate to anywhere in the world and to complete their projects while pursuing professional activity. The Project is an opportunity that different students use in different ways. A Full-Time student may use the project to demonstrate value and capabilities to a potential employer. For some students, ideas for entrepreneurial ventures can be assessed before the start-up is launched.

CNCP RECOGNITION

Students graduating from the MBA also receive a certificate conferring them the title of Manager International. This title, recognized by the Commission Nationale de la Certification Professionnelle - an agency belonging to the French Ministry of Labor - attests to the successful acquisition of a core of international management skills and knowledge necessary for future roles as managers in an international context. The Manager International label is registered on the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles at Level 1, the highest level for such certification.

Petroleum Geoscience Centre: The Petroleum Geoscience Centre at the University of Manchester combines postgraduate MSc and PhD training, industry professional development programmes and internationally renowned research within one of the leading Earth Science Schools in the UK. World-Class Infrastructure: Manchester University has world-class research and teaching facilities, including geochemical, sedimentological and geophysical laboratories. The Petroleum Geoscience Centre runs three workstation laboratories: two are dedicated research environments using clusters of Unix workstations, and Linux/Windows PCs running the Schlumberger GeoFrame suite, Paradigm VoxelGeo, Petrel, Kingdom Suite, GoCad, ER Mapper and Arc-Info, plus various well-log analysis packages. Established Petroleum Geoscience MSc: The course has strong links with international oil companies and a proven track record for training in exploration and production geoscience to meet the needs of the oil industry. The teaching team is led by Dr Jonathan Redfern (Director of the Petroleum Geoscience MSc who has many years experience with international oil companies) and includes leading researchers and experience petroleum geoscientists from the Basin and Stratigraphic Studies Group headed by Professor Rob Gawthorpe. There is a strong industrial component to the course with several modules taught by industry specialists and the potential to undertake research projects linked to oil companies. The course combines and emphasis on academic excellence with industrial application. Students are expected to meet rigorous academic standards and to develop key analytical expertise. Taught courses from October to April comprise lectures, practical exercises, tutorials, group projects. From May to September students specialise whilst undertaking an independant research project, often carried out within the offices of a sponsoring oil company, providing valuable work experience. Fieldwork is also an important part of the course. Three field trips are taken within the UK and one overseas field trip each year.

Careers: Graduates from this programme tend to follow career paths in the petroleum sector; with major international oil companies, service companies or the growing number of consultancies, government institutions or into the financial sector. Others have continued their studies with PhD training.

Entry Requirements: A good Honours degree in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering or related discipline. Work experience may also be taken into account. Overseas students would also need to demonstrate competence in English language, for example, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.

As Latin American and Caribbean Countries (LAC) experience economic development, concerns on environmental degradation and contamination continue to grow. The region faces serious challenges such as climate change and natural disasters; and under conditions of population growth, social conflict, urbanization and industrialization efficient environmental policies and programs are required to sustainably manage the natural resources.

The objective of the double degree master program is to qualify professionals and experts in the field of environmental and natural resources management with the necessary skills, tools and methods in the context of international cooperation with a clear focus on German/European Latin American cooperation. Graduates are able to analyze and solve complex environmental problems in their specific socio-cultural and political contexts, given the technical and economic potentials of both regions.

The ENREM program is based on the curricula of the two accredited master programs:

• “Maestria en Ciencias Ambientales”at the Programa Multidisciplinario de Posgrado en Ciencias Ambientales (PMPCA) at University San Luis Potosí (UASLP) in Mexico and
• “Natural Resources Management and Development” at the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) at TH Köln - University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

The ENREM Master program targets professionals of different academic backgrounds with experience related to the natural resources sector. They seek to deepen their knowledge in Environment and Resources Management and wish to acquire management and leadership skills as well as regional and intercultural competences within the context of international – especially German-Latin American cooperation – and at the same time provide their work experience and regional knowledge to the mutual learning and intercultural environment.

In an interdisciplinary learning environment, students diversify their knowledge and build the capacity to think transdisciplinarily and laterally, as well as team and leadership skills, among them intercultural abilities. These competencies shall equip the graduates with the ability to analyze, characterize and solve complex problems of environmental and natural resources management and well as foster sustainable development, all in line with the SDGs agenda.

Contents

The double degree master program runs for four semesters and starts in winter term (august) of each year. The first two semesters will take place in San Luis Potosí (Mexico), the third in Cologne (Germany) and the last semester is exclusively for the development of the master thesis project either in Mexico, another Latin American Country or Germany depending in the thesis topic.

Courses in Mexico are mainly implemented in Spanish while the official teaching language at ITT is English.

The course is structured through mandatory and elective modules, and is accompanied by practical experiences, exercises, team projects and seminars throughout the program.

The mandatory modules are organized in Core Modules and Project Modules, these modules provides the student with a general overview of different disciplines relevant to natural resources. The elective modules in the second and third semester are organized into two blocks, one in their area of “specialization elective related to the topics of natural resources management” and the other from the “Methods and Tools”.

Each of the two partner universities has a different focus related to the following areas:
• UASLP, Mexico: Prevention and Control, Environmental Assessment, Renewable Natural Resources, Environmental Management, Environmental and Health.
• TH Köln, Germany: Environmental and Land use Management, Urban and Regional Management complemented by Integrated Water Resources Management and/ or Renewable Energy Management

Learning and Teaching

At the beginning of the academic year, students go through five-day induction events in which they are informed about University, the School, the MA/MSc programmes and the facilities available for their learning.

The 180 credits one-year MA degree programme is divided into three core and three optional modules of 15 credits each. Furthermore, students have to submit a dissertation of 75 credits of not more than 15,000 words. Most of the modules are delivered during the first two terms and students spend the remaining time to write the dissertation.

Usually a module has 18 contact hours spread over 9 weeks and 132 hours of self-directed learning. The modules are mainly delivered through weekly 2 hours sessions which can either take the form of seminars or one hour of lecture and one hour of tutorial. The form in which seminars are conducted can differ from one module to another. Typically modules would have elements of lectures, discussions, and presentations from students—the extent of each of these components would differ from one module to another.

All modules have written exercise for formative assessments. Upon getting feedback on these assignments, students can meet their lecturers to discuss their marks before then eventually completing a summative assessment. Typically summative assessments are 3000 word essays but some modules may be assessed by examination. Students can also meet their module coordinators during their weekly contact hours or by making an appointment. When students are working on their dissertations during the later half of the year, they meet their assigned supervisors for a minimum of 6 hours. Students also have access to the academic advisors whenever there is a need.

SGIA has a wide variety of resources available to students such as: computer room/work room with networked PC’s, printing facilities including scanner and photocopier, audio system, Wi-Fi and a relaxation area with satellite television system.

SGIA conducts weekly seminars and organises lectures and conferences which all postgraduate students can attend. These events provide students the opportunity to engage with, and debate, the most important issues in current political and international studies.

Who is it for?

This programme is for students who have a numerate first degree or can demonstrate numerate skills. Students are often at the early stages of their careers in diverse professions including economics, statistics and computer science.

Students will have a curiosity about data, and will want to learn new techniques to boost their career and be part of exciting current industry developments. The MSc in Data Science includes some complex programming tasks because of the applied nature of the course, so many students have a mathematics or statistics background and enjoy working with algorithms.

Objectives

The demand for data scientists in the UK has grown more than ten-fold in the past five years *. The amount of data in the world is growing exponentially. From analysing tyre performance to detecting problem gamblers, wherever data exists, there are opportunities to apply it.

City’s MSc Data Science programme covers the intersection of computer science and statistics, machine learning and practical applications. We explore areas such as visualisation because we believe that data science is about generating insight into data as well as its communication in practice.

The programme focuses on machine learning as the most exciting technology for data and we have learned from our own graduates that this is of high value when it comes to employment within the field. The School's computer science laboratories are equipped with the latest up-to-date hardware and software. From Oracle’s leading commercial object-relational database server to PCs with state-of-the-art NVidia GPUs for computer graphics, you will have access to an array of tools to support your learning.

The MSc Data Science programme offers two (three by mid 2016) dedicated computer servers for the Big Data module, which you can also use for your final project to analyse large data sets. We give you the opportunity to undertake training in MATLAB, the most popular numerical and technical programming environment, while you study.

Teaching and learning

The teaching and learning methods we use mean that students’ specialist knowledge and autonomy increase as they progress through each module. Active researchers guide your progress in the areas of machine learning, data visualization, and high-performance computing, which culminates with an individual project. This is an original piece of research conducted with academic supervision, but largely independently and, where appropriate, in collaboration with industrial partners.

Taught modules are delivered through a series of 20 hours of lectures and 10 hours of tutorials/laboratory sessions. Lectures are normally used to:
-Present and exemplify the concepts underpinning a particular subject.
-Highlight the most significant aspects of the syllabus.
-Indicate additional topics and resources for private study.

Tutorials help you develop the skills to apply the concepts we have covered in the lectures. We normally achieve this through practical problem solving contexts.

Laboratory sessions give you the opportunity to apply concepts and techniques using state-of-the-art software, environments and development tools.

In addition to lectures, laboratory sessions and tutorial support, you also have access to a personal tutor. This is an academic member of staff from whom you can gain learning support throughout your degree. In addition, City’s online learning environment Moodle contains resources for each of the modules from lecture notes and lab materials, to coursework feedback, model answers, and an interactive discussion forum.

We expect you to study independently and complete coursework for each module. This should amount to approximately 120 hours per module if you are studying full time. Each module is assessed through a combination of written examination and coursework, where you will need to answer theoretical and practical questions to demonstrate that you can analyse and apply data science methods and techniques.

The individual project is a substantial task. It is your opportunity to develop a research-related topic under the supervision of an academic member of staff. This is the moment when you can apply what you have learnt to solve a real-world problem using large datasets from industry, academia or government and use your knowledge of collecting and processing real data, designing and implementing big data methods and applying and evaluating data analysis, visualisation and prediction techniques. Course content

Data science is the area of study concerned with the extraction of insight from large collections of data.

The Creative Practice MRes is a Masters level course based in the rich research culture of Westminster School of Media, Art and Design. Over one year full-time or two years part-time, you will develop and complete a major research project related to your creative practice, culminating in an exhibition presentation and a written reflection on your research.

The Creative Practice MRes is an ideal stepping stone to further practice based PhD research, as well as a unique opportunity to realise an ambitious creative project with the support of research-led practitioners across the field of the arts and media, as part of the internationally renowned Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM) – the UK’s top-rated general art and design research centre. REF results link to CREAM with a score of 45% 4*, 46% 3*, 9% 2* in the UKs most recent UKs’s official REF (Research Excellent Framework).

The course offers access to the excellent resources of Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design, including the research culture of the Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM), our new Music Research Group and our internationally renowned Communication and Media Research Institute (CAMRI).

The course enables you to develop your practice and research skills in arts and media towards the completion of your research project, supported by expert supervision from eminent artists, theorists and designers, as part of CREAM’s extensive practice-based doctoral programme. You will work in close supervision with a researcher practitioner in your field of specialism, to assist you in the development of your individual research project.
