This innovative distance learning award is aimed at providing health care management and other health care professionals with a management role with an opportunity to develop key high level skills in the areas of management thinking and policy analysis. The aim is to utilise a pratical skills approach which will meet both your needs as a practitioner and develop your analytical capacity to a high level. The issues will be approached in an accesible way fo applicants in a range of health care settings through a flexible approach to assessment.

The award will be delivered by staff from the Faculy of Health and the Busines School to bring together a range of perspectives on contemporary health management and policy issues. The online approach will enable you to access materials and staff online giving you more flexibility about when and where you study. The dissertation will enable you to consider a key management and/or policy issue primarily through desk based research, although wehere possible empirical study will be fully supported.

The full programme incorporates the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma as qualifications in their own right or as step-off points on the way to acheving the MA in Health Managementand Policy.

-If you are a Principal Teacher (or head of department/faculty): or are looking to progress into this role; and want to develop your skills as middle leaders in school, this programme is designed for you.
-It uses practice-focused learning to develop your capability to lead teaching and learning within your school (Department or Faculty); particularly to achieve the ambitions of Curriculum for Excellence.
-Our academic staff play a leading role in the area of professional and leadership development in Scotland. They have been involved in a range of research projects on headteacher recruitment, teacher leadership, coaching and leadership development, teachers’ work and collaborative professional enquiries.
-There is a focus on collaborative learning, drawing on your own experiences and those of your academic colleagues.

Programme structure

Each course combines a taught element, a distance learning element and an assignment drawing from your work in school. You will also participate in online activities to support the development of practice-focused tasks and assignments.

This innovative scheme provides a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding contemporary Wales. The scheme will equip postgraduate students with a strong grounding in the historical, cultural, socio-economic and political context to contemporary Wales; critical engagement with key intellectual debates regarding Wales' politics, society and history; knowledge of the constitution arrangement and institution structures shaping devolved government in Wales, and an understand of the broader UK and European context of trends in territorial politics and regional governance. It also places a strong emphasis on enhancing employability and work-based learning.

the scheme forms a key component of the work of the Centre for Welsh Politics and Society, WISERD@ Aberystwyth University enabling students to study in the context of a world-leading research centre on contemporary political, social and economic issues fo relevance to Wales. It draws together experts from three prestigious department, Department of Geography and Earth Sciences, Department of History and Welsh History and Department of International Politics, and is housed in the latter, the world first University department of International Politics
