The fields of graphics, vision and imaging increasingly rely on one another. This unique and timely MSc provides training in computer graphics, geometry processing, virtual reality, machine vision and imaging technology from world-leading experts, enabling students to specialise in any of these areas and gain a grounding in the others.
Graduates will understand the basic mathematical principles underlying the development and application of new techniques in computer graphics and computer vision and will be aware of the range of algorithms and approaches available, and be able to design, develop and evaluate algorithms and methods for new problems, emerging technologies and applications.
Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits.
The programme consists of four core modules (60 credits), four optional modules (60 credits) and a research project (60 credits).
Students must choose a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 credits from Group One options. Students must choose a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 45 credits from Group Two options.

All students undertake an independent research project related to a problem of industrial interest or on a topic near the leading edge of research, which culminates in a 60–80 page dissertation.
Teaching and learning
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials. Lectures are often supported by laboratory work with help from demonstrators. Student performance is assessed by unseen written examinations, coursework and a substantial individual project.

Evidence of previous postgraduate study or extensive work experience can be used to apply for recognition of prior learning, also known as Recognition of Academic Credit (RAC), potentially allowing you to skip courses which you can show you hold the required skills and knowledge for already.
We understand that many of our Postgraduate students juggle their study around other commitments, work, and home life.
Therefore we have designed our Postgraduate timetable to have courses in the early morning and late afternoon/evening, with one-hour lunchtime check-ins that could be in person or via video conference.
You can also choose to study online, giving even greater flexibility to work your study around other commitments.
We have put together an indicative timetable for a full time, face-to-face student, as an example of what your study timetable could look like.
This is a flexible course, which can take between one and three years, depending on individual circumstances and experience.
The PGCE Primary Modular is ideal for those who are not able to commit to a fulltime or fixed part-time route into teaching, or who wish to have some recognition taken of existing experience as a teacher or lecturer.
Much of the studying is undertaken independently through online learning.
The course has been designed for all students to meet the Standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and provides the opportunity to gain 40 Masters level credits.
The course runs in partnership with schools across the region and beyond. Whilst every effort is made to support students in their preferred school location, where a school is more than two hours’ drive from Canterbury we would ask applicants to discuss whether this is possible, with Hannah Marsh in Admissions.
This course provides an opportunity for you to gain a PGCE whilst continuing in employment/caring for a family/fulfilling other life commitments. It is flexible and responsive to your needs. It gives you the chance to tailor your studying to your lifestyle and to take a very individual route to QTS, whilst providing opportunities to meet with likeminded people from all over the United Kingdom and Europe.
Two of the modules offer the opportunity to gain 40 Masters credits and these can then be put towards a Masters degree in the future.
All PGCE courses cover three main areas: Curriculum Studies, Professional Studies and Enhanced Studies.
All learning on the course is designed to complement professional practice and the academic study will be informed by and inform practice.
The module work is accessed and submitted online, with tutor support when needed.
There are three school placements of six weeks, eight weeks and eight weeks. There is the possibility of gaining exemption from the second placement, if certain criteria are met, including evidence from previous teaching experience. Placement one and two may be undertaken part-time if necessary, doing a minimum of three days a week in school.
You are obliged to attend a minimum of 12 core teaching days at Canterbury. These cover the core and foundation subjects, are taught by subject specialists and are very highly evaluated.
Learning and teaching is comprised of online materials, face-to-face seminars, group and individual tutorials (these can be face-to-face or via Skype/Facetime/telephone/email) and support in school whilst on placement.
The face-to-face seminars are held in Canterbury on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the year. These offer the opportunity to network with your colleagues and have access to tutors who are subject specialists. These days are fun, informative and designed to provide a theoretical underpinning to your learning. They also offer ideas and suggestions for activities to try out when on school placement and time to answer any queries or concerns you might have.
From the very start of the course you are allocated a pathway tutor who will support you throughout. They will offer pastoral, academic and school experience support, and this strong relationship is a key aspect of your time on the course.
You will also have other subject tutors who will offer guidance both for academic work and school placements. You are welcome to contact tutors and arrange tutorials (face-to-face or virtual) whenever you feel it would be useful.
Students will be assessed in two main ways via academic assignments and assessment of their teaching.
Students will submit academic assignments for 20 credits in each curriculum, professional and enhanced studies modules. Each submission will include a written element, but students may also be assessed via presentations or practical performances as relevant to their chosen subject options.

This course is for people who are working as physiotherapists, who wish to develop themselves and their profession. The MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice aims to help you thrive in health and social contexts where the pace of change is fast and professionals need to be dynamic and proactive to meet the needs of the individuals that they work with.
The programme of study aims to be:
Full-time with attendance: 12-18 months
The full-time study route makes use of a blended mode of learning which includes face-to-face contact supported by online resources. This is designed with international students in mind and offers attractive practical modules as well as opportunities to learn in clinical settings (see modules).
The standard duration of the full-time route is 18 months. This is valuable if your priority is to use all opportunities to develop your professional standing and employability. If you wish to prioritise quick completion of your MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice, and meet requirements, you can accelerate it to 12 months duration.
Part-time with attendance: 3-7 years
You can study the MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice part-time, with a minimum duration of three years, and maximum duration of seven years. If you study this route you can select modules which involve some attendance and some online study. For example, some modules are delivered with blocks of attendance and online study between these blocks. If you study part-time you can also choose to complete distance learning modules as part of your programme.
Distance learning (part-time or full-time):
1-7 years You can choose modules that enable you to complete your MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice entirely as distance learning . You can study distance learning at a full-time pace (12-18 months duration) or at a part-time pace (3-7 years).
We use a range of student-centred learning methods, including tutorials, seminars and practical classes, with facilitation of work based learning and recognition of prior learning. Further specific strategies are used to enable distance learning.
Your performance will be assessed by coursework (assignments), presentations and practical examinations, and you are provided with structured support in learning how to develop and demonstrate your academic skills at a master’s level. Class sizes are usually 5-10 students.
Each module that is studied on-campus will require you to attend classes and carry out independent work. Your attendance requirements at QMU will vary between semesters of study, but contact time might average about six hours per week over one academic year; this would be higher during taught modules. Whether you are studying distance learning or through a mixture of face-to-face contact and online work (blended learning), each 30-credit module will entail around 300 hours of student work. This includes contact with tutors (online or face-to-face), supported by independent learning. When thinking about the total amount of learning, for the full-time pace of study, you will undertake 120 credits of study over two 15-week semesters, followed by your dissertation. This suggests up to 40 hours per week of study. A student who chooses to study part-time may be undertaking, for example, 60 credits of study, which would equate to about 20 hours per week of study.
The distance learning route can be studied part-time or full-time.
In order to design a flexible, clinical and supportive course, we talked with current students, former students and employers internationally. We collaborate with many physiotherapists and managers locally to create opportunities for our students to contribute to the development of physiotherapy services during their course. This ensures the relevance of their studies, their professional development, and advancement of the physiotherapy profession. The MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice was developed from the MSc Physiotherapy (Post- Reg) which was accredited by the UK’s Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. The MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice will be renewed for the same accreditation. This course does not lead to HCPC registration. However, advice is given to assist the process of registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Course material will also help the student to develop knowledge and skills recognised by the HCPC
This course will enable you to focus your continuing professional development in relation to clinical physiotherapy practice and physiotherapy research. It is intended to enhance your clinical, research and education career opportunities both in the UK and internationally. Gaining the qualification will increase your employment potential across the world and help you gain academic recognition in Canada, USA, Australia and other countries.
Diet and nutrition significantly affect sport and exercise performance. The food and fluid which an athlete consumes before, during and after training and competition affects health and body composition, as well as performance in, and recovery from the effects of exercise. Sound knowledge of sport and exercise nutrition can therefore ensure a healthy balance between exercise and diet for a range of athletes, from amateur to elite levels within different sports. This programme provides a postgraduate pathway for graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in the area of sport and exercise nutrition. As an accredited course, the programme achieves the competencies required for graduate registration with the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr) meaning those students graduating with the PgDip/MSc are automatically eligible to register with the SENr as a graduate registrant.
The programme is delivered by blended learning (combined distance learning and on campus modules). Students enrolled for the PgDip Sport and Exercise Nutrition course need to undertake modules to a total of 120 credit points and for the MSc undertake an additional research project of 60 credit points. Modules studied will include: nutrition and exercise metabolism, nutritional assessment, recommendations and requirements, sport-specific nutrition issues, research design and biostatistics, nutrition for health and disease prevention, evidence-based practice in healthcare sciences, practical sports nutrition and the sport and exercise nutrition research project.
The full-time programme (over 1 calendar year; i.e. three academic semesters) is comprised of taught modules in semester one and two and the research project which is completed in semester three. All semester one modules are delivered by distance-learning. In semester two, one 30 credit point module is delivered by distance-learning with the remaining two 15 credit point modules being delivered as face-to-face modules at the Jordanstown campus.
In part-time mode, all modules in year one, and semester one of year two are delivered by distance-learning. In semester two of year two students will attend the Jordanstown campus for the remaining two 15 credit point modules which are delivered as face-to-face modules. As for full-time students, students taking the programme in part-time mode who progress to the MSc (and depending upon the nature of their project work chosen) will opt to undertake their MSc research project work either on-campus (at either the Jordanstown or Coleraine campus) or may complete their project work in the work-place (subject to approval by the project module co-ordinator).
This programme achieves the competencies required for graduate registration of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr).
Career options within sport and exercise nutrition are expanding and include becoming a freelance sports nutritionist/performance nutritionist or working with sporting/government organisations.
