Le Centre international de formation de l’Organisation internationale du Travail (CIF-OIT) organise, en partenariat avec l’Institut d’études politiques de Paris (« Sciences Po ») et l’Université de Turin (Italie), un programme de master en gouvernance et management des marchés publics en appui au développement durable dans lequel les participants explorent les fondements juridiques, règlementaires, économiques, managériaux et organisationnels d’un système moderne de gouvernance et de management des marchés publics.

Ce programme de master intègre des méthodes d’enseignement et des techniques d’apprentissage mixtes qui permettent aux participants d’étudier et d’assimiler la théorie et d’appliquer les connaissances de façon pratique par la réalisation de travaux, d’études de cas, de visites d’étude et d’un projet de recherche appliquée. La participation au programme permet aussi d’accéder à un réseau et d’être exposé à l’expertise, à l’expérience et au savoir-faire d’académiciens, d’experts travaillant au sein d’organismes internationaux et de spécialistes des secteurs public et privé.

La finalité du programme est de préparer les participants à occuper des fonctions exécutives ou managériales en relation avec la régulation, la passation ou la supervision des marchés publics et des contrats au niveau des administrations et des organisations internationales.

Le programme se déroule en français et il est d’unedurée totale de 12 mois.

Le programme est structuré en trois phasesd’apprentissage successives d’une durée d’environquatre mois suivant le calendrier ci-après:

La première phase

d’apprentissage se déroule à distance. Durant cette phase, les participants complètent un module deformation à distance via Internet. Cette phase commencera le 19 octobre 2015 et se terminera le 12 février 2016. Cette phase à distance permet d’initier les participants aux principes de la passation des marchés publics et de présenter les différentes étapes du processus d’acquisition de fournitures, de travaux et deservices.

La deuxième phase

d’apprentissage se déroule à Turin et consiste en une série de coursdispensés en classe par les différents experts et professeurs. Les cours débuteront sur le campusdu CIF-OIT le 15 février 2016 et se termineront le 17 juin 2016. Durant cette phase, la présence au cours est obligatoire car l’essentiel du programme de formation, des connaissances théoriques aux travaux pratiques, est délivrédurant cette période. La phase à Turin est la plus importante en raison de la densité du programme qui couvre dans le détail et enprofondeur l’ensemble des dix-huit modules.

La troisième phase

consiste en la préparation d’un projet de recherche appliquée, la rédaction d’une thèse et la soumission de cette dernière au conseil scientifique du programme. Durant cette phase, qui sedéroulera à distance, les participants seronttenus d’effectuer une recherche individuelle, sous les conseils de leur superviseur, sur un thème lié aux marchés publics et de soumettreà la fin de cette phase une thèse finale. Les grandes lignes du projet de recherche seront présentées avant le début de la phase III et la thèse finale devra être soumise au conseil scientifique avant le 16 octobre 2016.

The candidates will be able to select a title from the list below, or suggest their own project relevant to research conducted in the host laboratory. Our priority areas of studies are: molectual mechanisms of interaction between pathogenic bacteria and host cells, virulence factors, mechanisms of bacterial stress response, molecular genetics and genomics with a focus on Campylobacter jejuni and other bacterial pathogens.

Examples of potential research projects:

(1) Investigation of host-pathogen interaction (e.g. to study of adhesins of Campylobacter jejuni and cognate host cell receptors)

(2) Application of IonTorrent Next Generation Sequencing for comparative analysis of bacterial pathogens (e.g. to study genetic mechanisms responsible for structural variation of a capsular polysaccharide of Campylobacter jejuni)

The research will employ a wide range of state of the art microbiological and molecular biology techniques, and a successful candidate will receive extensive training and support from an experienced supervisor.

It is expected that the student will actively participate in scientific meetings and writing research articles with a possibility to progress to a PhD, and a postdoctoral post in future (depending on performance).
Personal requirements:
- enthusiastic and eager to learn;
- keen on research in molecular microbiology in general, and in investigation of bacterial pathogens in particular.
- some basic skills in bench work would be beneficial.

In cooperation with the University of Neuchâtel, a Master in Sports Law has been created in 2005 with the aim of allowing students to complete and further traditional teaching in legal matters related to sport and to train specialist jurists to deal with the specificities of sport problems.

Funding for the teaching of these courses is provided by FIFA.

Lectures are given by specialists of international standing such as Denis Oswald, who is also the CIES Director. The course includes complementary courses in economic law, civil law and health law.

This course is offered solely in French.

Students are to be registered with the University of Neuchâtel to attend classes and apply for the Master exams. Registration is open exclusively at the registration office of the University of Neuchâtel. No registration at CIES.

Sciences Po and LSE have come together to offer this distinctive dual degree devoted to urban management and policy, which combines the strengths of two leading international centres of research in city development and urban governance.

The double degree lasts two academic years: the first year is spent at Sciences Po, in the Master Stratégies Territoriales et Urbaines; the second year is spent at LSE, following one of three MSc programmes, in either Local Economic Development, Regional and Urban Planning Studies, or Urbanisation and Development.

Spanning a wide range of disciplines, including public management, economic development, urbanisation, project management, urban social analysis, and planning, this selective bilingual (French and English) programme will enable you to develop an understanding of the political, economic and social issues raised by contemporary urbanisation, at local and international level, with a curriculum focused on the analytic tools used in the field of urban policy.

On completion, you will be awarded a master's from Sciences Po in Stratégies Territoriales et Urbaines, and an MSc from LSE in Urban Policy.

Language

Applicants must demonstrate competence in both English and French.

Students whose native language is not English must meet LSE's Standard English requirement (see entry requirements).

A Masters’ studentship is available in the group of Dr. Martin Schröder in the School of Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Durham University to study stress signaling mechanisms originating from the endoplasmic reticulum. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress contributes to the development and progression of many diverse diseases affecting secretory tissues, such as diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate will employ modern genetic and molecular techniques to understand the underlying cell biological mechanisms in endoplasmic reticulum stress signaling that maintain the homeostasis of the endoplasmic reticulum.

The MRes student will investigate control of ER stress signaling specificity by the dosage of ER stress. You will use a range of molecular biology and biochemical techniques to study (a) how the severity of ER stress alters the signaling outputs of the ER stress sensing protein kinase-endoribonuclease IRE1 or (b) how ER stress regulates transcriptional responses through the Rpd3-Sin3 histone/lysine deacetylase (see for example Schröder et al., 2000; Schröder et al., 2004). These techniques include protein expression and purification, immunoprecipitation, chromatin immunoprecipitation, cloning, transfection, and RNA analysis by real-time PCR or Northern blotting.

Overall, the studentship will provide interdisciplinary training in molecular biology, genetics, and cell biology.

It serves to broaden the knowledge acquired during the bachelor studies and will provide students with a deeper insight into European law. With its emphasis on European, comparative and international law, the Master programme naturally reflects its proximity to several European institutions such as the Court of Justice, the General Court, the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund and the European Court of Auditors. Courses in the second year of the Master programmes are taught by experts from these institutions as well as other practitioners and faculty members. Courses in the first year are taught mainly by professors from the University and some invited professor.

The first year also prepares students for the requirements during the second year of the Master, where in each specialisation in-depth competencies and practical application of the relevant European law are achieved. An overview of the courses offered during the first year can be found under “Programme”. The diversity of courses ranges from general introduction and overview courses as well as more specialized topics that give an insight to the different tracks; students can freely choose from the range of courses (of which not all are taught every year) typically five courses per semester. Teaching relies on problem-based learning methods. In addition, the possibility for participation in Moot Court competitions to train in a “real-life” application of knowledge is an integral part of the programme. The focus of these Master programmes is on European Law and they are all bilingual, meaning that classes and exams are carried out both in English and in French. Each Master is a two-year programme. A student can choose to either follow the entire two-year programme or follow only the second year of a specialisation. Students must meet the specific requirements of admission in both cases. Each Master offers two specialisations in the second year. Applicants choose their specialisation during registration for the second year and indicate their motivation for a specific track already in their first year application. The Master degree is awarded upon successful completion of the second year.

The first year is a course programme common to all three Master programmes in Law.

It serves to broaden the knowledge acquired during the bachelor studies and will provide students with a deeper insight into European law. With its emphasis on European, comparative and international law, the Master programme naturally reflects its proximity to several European institutions such as the Court of Justice, the General Court, the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund and the European Court of Auditors. You'll constantly test your skills and apply them to real-life situations, coming to understand which tools and strategies to use in delivering meaningful, high-impact interventions.

You’ll use your new skills to shape businesses, education and communities. Our wide choice of modules means that, whether you work in coaching, business, education or health, you can tailor your studies to your career goals. Our course will also suit you if you have a BSc in psychology and want to further your knowledge.

Our course is taught in Cambridge and Paris. In Paris, teaching takes place at Centre d’Études Diplomatiques et Stratégiques (CEDS), right in the centre of Paris near the Eiffel Tower. In Cambridge, you’ll also have access to our advanced psychology laboratories.

You’ll complete four intensive week-long modules, followed by online research methods teaching and supervision for your major project. In-between times you’ll undertake self-directed study.

100% of your assessment will be through coursework. Session in Paris

In addition, true to its international vocation, EMLUX has developed a session in Paris, France, with a focus on French luxury that during the past edition was in collaboration with the University of Sciences-Po. The session included not only lectures by French brands such as Lanvin and Chloé, but also a focus on the Champagne and jewellery market, with a visit to the Van Cleef&Arpels atelier and boutique.

Overview

In our increasingly global world, contact between cultures is of vital economic and sociocultural importance. Our Master’s course will give you the skills and knowledge to build a successful career in an intercultural environment.

You’ll gain an understanding of how cultural differences impact on human interaction in both the workplace and society. With modules that focus on topics like migration, identity and cultural relations, you’ll advance your theoretical knowledge at the same time as improving your business and professional communication skills.

You’ll also learn to use different methodological tools that will help you understand language and communication, as well as sharpen your analytical skills. This will give you the confidence to think independently and innovatively around the interdisciplinary, and often multinational, challenges of the modern world of work.

As a full-time student, you can choose to spend one semester at a European university (the Eurocampus). At the Eurocampus, your studies will be equivalent to those of Cambridge-based students, and you’ll still work in English.

On both our Cambridge campus and the Eurocampus, you’ll be working alongside students from all over the world, including the USA, Canada, Germany, France, China, Japan, Taiwan, Spain, Italy, Finland, Turkey and Lithuania. This will give you additional experience and understanding of intercultural environments to support your academic studies.

Assessment

Our course gives you the option to spend one semester at a European university, or study in Cambridge only.

On the Cambridge-only route, you’ll show your progress through written coursework: 6,000-word essays for all modules except Impacts of Migration, which requires a 5,000-word essay and a presentation. You'll also complete a 15,000-word dissertation.

On the 'Eurocampus' route, you’ll be assessed through a combination of methods depending on the institution.

Awards and distinctions

By taking this course, you’ll be studying on a programme that has twice been awarded the UK Trade and Investment National Languages for Export award (for the Eastern region in the UK), in the category 'Innovative courses in adult, further and higher education which prepare students for working in, or with, people from non-English-speaking markets'.
