The Master of Space Studies programme is designed to prepare scientists to respond to a myriad of challenges and opportunities. In addition to coursework in space sciences, the curriculum is enriched by a Master's thesis and a series of guest lecturers from international, national and regional institutions.
This is an advanced Master's programme and can be followed on a full-time or part-time basis.
The programme is conceived as an advanced master’s programme and as such it requires applicants to have successfully completedan initial master’s programme in either the humanities and social sciences, exact sciences and technology or biomedical sciences.
The mission of the Department of Physics and Astronomy is exploring, understanding and modelling physical realities using mathematical, computational, experimental and observational techniques. Fifteen teams perform research at an international level. Publication of research results in leading journals and attracting top-level scientists are priorities for the department.
New physics and innovation in the development of new techniques are important aspects of our mission. The interaction with industry (consulting, patents...) and society (science popularisation) are additional points of interest. Furthermore, the department is responsible for teaching basic physics courses in several study programmes.
After the completion of the programme, students will have attained the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding
LO1: Are capable of analysing and understanding the main scientific, technological, political, legal and economical aspects of space activities.
LO2: Demonstrate an advanced knowledge in one of the following fields: A. Space Law, Policy, Business and Management; B. Space Sciences; C. Space Technology.
LO3: Are capable of discussing and reporting on the main scientific, technological, political, legal and economical aspects of space activities.
LO4: Can apply, in the field of space studies, the knowledge, skills and approaches they obtained during their previous academic master.
LO5: Are able to integrate their own disciplinary expertise applied to space related activities within their broad and complex multi-disciplinary environment, taking into account their societal, technological and scientific context.
LO6: Can communicate clearly and unambiguously to specialist and non-specialist audiences about space projects in general and their specific area of expertise.
LO7: Have the skills to commence participation in complex space projects in multi-disciplinary and/or multinational settings in the framework of institutions, agencies or industry. This includes information collection, analysis and drawing conclusions, individually and/or as part of a team.
LO8: Can undertake research in the space field individually, translate the findings in a structured fashion, and communicate and discuss the results in a clear manner (oral and written).
LO9: Have a multi-disciplinary approach to complex projects, with special attention to the integration of the different and complementary aspects of such projects.
LO10: Understand and are able to contribute to exploiting the benefits of space for humanity and its environment and are familiarised with the broad spectrum of aspects of peaceful space activities, including the societal ones.
LO11: Have a critical approach towards the place of space activities in their societal framework, including ethical questions arising from space activities.
Graduates will be in a position to develop a career in the space sector or in space research.
Depending on his/her previous degree, the student will find opportunities in the space industry (engineers, product developers and technical-commercial functions with a high degree of technical and financial responsibilities), research institutions with activities in space (researchers and project developers), (inter)governmental bodies with responsibilities in research and development programmes related to space (project managers and directors, policy makers on national, European and international levels). The spectrum of employment possibilities encompasses not only the space sector as such, but also the broader context of companies and organisations which use or are facilitated by space missions.
The Master in International Marketing Management (MIMM) provides a broad learning and training experience that helps students enter in the job market. The program aims at preparing students for a successful career in international marketing management, whether in a large multinational firm, a smaller company, or their own business.
The Master is characterized by active learning and student interaction, aimed at developing individual skills of analysis and decision-making. In particular, the traditional teaching methods will be integrated by the presence of academics of international standing and managers, case discussions, role playing, individual group projects and seminars.
The Master aims at developing knowledge, competences and abilities in order to analyze the international markets and to assume managerial, commercial and marketing responsibilities. It enables to operate in international contexts thanks to original, dynamic and unique approaches, culture and knowledge coming from a training process that virtuously integrates the economical-managerial disciplines with the psychological-organizational ones. A classroom mix of different competencies will benefit the learning environment and allow students to share different perspectives of the marketing field. The Master aims at training professionals able to comprehend and put into action a cross-cultural approach in the negotiation and strategy development phase. The learning objectives are to develop an open culture, flexible to changes and a long lasting set of competences able to continuously adequate themselves to various and dynamic economical contexts. Students will complete the program by taking an internship at one of the Master’s partner companies, either in Italy or abroad.
Graduates from the Master will gain full marketing management knowledge and practices. They may take positions in any company or agency to carry out tasks related to marketing and customer management and marketing research. Graduates from the Master can take positions in market research centers and institutes or marketing offices of multi- nationals as well as smaller companies, as market analysts, marketing managers, product and brand managers etc.

This course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of modern engineering analysis and simulation tools and techniques in terms of product development and optimisation before manufacture. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of how various IT-based tools and systems function while also gaining insights into how these are implemented effectively, within the manufacturing and industrial sectors. You will be equipped to undertake cross-functional management roles and to evaluate how modern organisations can strategically exploit existing and emerging technologies. This course provides you with the unique opportunity to experience the practicalities and applications of modern Engineering Analysis Techniques. The dedicated IT simulation resources and expertise of our specialised staff, based at our Telford Campus, is well renowned and often called upon to support and advise external agencies and key industries across the aerospace, automotive and automotive sports and power generation sectors. You can therefore rest assured of access to a variety of significant simulation techniques facilities and expertise. Beyond this, the course will encourage and guide you to explore and conduct research into emerging Design and use the latest industry standard simulation software to produce complex, economical and sustainable part/component part production. Our expectation is that the exposure offered by the course, to modern and newly emerging manufacturing technologies coupled with the project managerial aspects of the course will ensure that you are well placed to take up a key role in this dynamic industrial sector.

You will have the opportunity to work in a range of dedicated facilities such as the Dedicated IT Laboratories to develop practical skills and understand the link between the theory and practical implementation of integrated CAD, Simulation and Finite Element Analysis Techniques. Throughout the weekly class sessions and through use of the on-line support material, you will obtain skills required to successfully implement and manage a range of modern design and simulation systems, processes and methodologies.
Often working on assessment and project briefs specified by industry practitioners, you will develop solutions to meet real world problems/requirements and be able to present these to your peers, practitioners and third parties in order to obtain balanced and current feedback.
