This Sustainable and Efficient Food Production postgraduate course centres on increasing efficiency and reducing environmental impact within the extensive pasture-based production sector. The programme provides flexible, accessible, postgraduate level training for people employed in the agri-food sector. Training comprises distance learning modules and work-based research projects. These are accessible as CPD or as credit-bearing units, which can be built towards a range of postgraduate qualifications.
Taught by experts at both Aberystwyth University (AU) and Bangor University (BU), the Sustainable and Efficient Food Production course offers you a highly vocational option. In the most recent joint submission to the Research Excellence Framework assessment (2014), the department was placed in the top 10 universities in the UK for research intensity and 78% of our research was world-leading or internationally excellent.

This scheme aims to facilitate knowledge exchange between academia and industry. Students must complete three taught modules including research methods and a 120 credit work-based dissertation / research thesis (approximately 20,000 words in length).
While the primary academic focus is on the completion of an advanced piece of research, the collaborative route provided by a work-based research project provides an ideal opportunity to embed new knowledge in the work place and ensure that research is relevant to industry. As such, it is crucial that a student’s employer is supportive of both their research aims and the time commitment that the proposed research will involve. Self-employed students should aim to undertake research which will be closely aligned to their business.
Students may build on the MRes to work towards a Professional Doctorate.
An MRes can be completed in 2-5 years but we would expect most students to spend 1 year on their taught modules and 2 years on their work based dissertation. 12 or 14 weeks for one module by distance learning. Three intakes per year (January, May, September).

Intellectual Property Law is required for a surprising amount of industries across creative, marketing, architecture, all new business in terms of trade marks and brand protection, innovations in terms of new product patents and intellectual property rights, internet businesses including e-commerce, and many many other organisations and businesses. It is international in its protection with variations upon how the law is interpreted depending upon where you trade. For anyone trading internationally it is essential to know how the law is interpreted in the country you are selling in.
Intellectual property law protection can include a wide range of different levels of protection which include full rights, in which you give all rights for a specific tangible or intangible item with specifications written down to protect your idea, partial rights when licensing to others either long term or short term, creative commons to allow access to the idea and monetisation by a different method or the ability to license at specific times and periods of time, specific tangible products. All companies with a creative component are at risk of infringement from when they start to trade to when they cease business so it is a question of how to manage intellectual property, keep growing and trading and benefitting from the turnover that your creative assets bring into your company.
If you want to specialist in intellectual property law this can be a hugely challenging and rewarding area and you are guaranteed to have no two clients that are alike in terms of needs. Intellectual property law is very closely linked to international trade, contracts, exporting, importing, and extending monetisation of assets. You study the deep issues and challenges of intellectual property law and its application to innovation, creativity, and creative development within a business or organisational context at international level.

Courses are delivered in a Block, Intensive or Weekly format. Whatever format your course is delivered, you need to attend all of the classes to pass and to get the most out of your study.
Most MEGov courses are delivered on-campus in a block format, which means that you'll need to attend classes on three full days each semester. These classes are separated by about six weeks.
Some of your core classes are delivered in a weekly format, with classes taking place in the evening during the standard university trimesters.
Depending on the courses you take, you may have a class that's delivered in an intensive format. Intensive courses are structured as one-off blocks of four days, or two blocks of two days separated by six weeks.
If you are studying full-time you can expect a workload of 40–45 hours a week for much of the year. Part-time students doing two courses per trimester will need to do around 20–23 hours of work a week. Make sure you take this into account if you are working full-time.
You can estimate your workload by adding up the number of points you'll be doing. One point is roughly equal to 10–12 hours work.
The MEGov can be completed in two years part-time, or one year of full-time study.

Assessed through a portfolio of prior work/training, the completion of a Research Methodologies module (30 credits) and a Dissertation module (60 credits), the programme addresses the needs of mature learners and professional movement practitioners who seek to extend and develop their professional learning through Masters study.
The M.A Somatic Practices by Independent Research degree offers Higher Education study to professionals who may not wish to engage with a taught programme of study but seek to validate their professional training and practice through accreditation of prior standing and through the completion of a Research methodologies module and through the completion of a Dissertation project developed through independent study.
The programme will be of interest to those who have completed professional training existing outside Higher Education (examples of such trainings in the UK and internationally include: Body-Mind CenteringÒ, Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy, Feldenkrais, Alexander, Skinner Releasing Technique) who seek flexibility of study.
The research methodologies module can be delivered in concert with the current MA Reflective Practice module and/or as a stand-alone module with flexible delivery (online, weekends, summer).
