Designed for those who want to teach pupils aged 11-18, the Secondary Mathematics Education programme is a full time one year postgraduate course and includes study around teaching methods, school-based work and whole-school issues. The course develops a deep understanding of issues and complexities which surround the teaching and learning of mathematics. We wish to develop you as a thinking teacher who can be aware of choices in how to teach mathematics and make informed decisions about how you work with students. The course will not pretend that teaching mathematics is straightforward, because it is not! Our sessions will rarely be of the form of a lecture, instead we use activities and discussion as the main way of working.

We will help you become aware of issues relating to planning lessons, assessment, the difference between telling students information and teaching students, standard misconceptions students have about mathematics topics, how different approaches to teaching a topic can change the learning experience for students and how choice of resources and technology can change the sort of mathematics with which students engage.

We have an excellent record of students gaining teaching jobs at the end of the course. The programme is designed to meet recognised teacher standards in the UAE and UK and time is spent in placement schools to develop the necessary experience and skills.

Our Executive MBA in Dubai is one of the first and most highly regarded in the UAE.

It has fast-tracked the careers of many of the region’s leading business professionals.

The programme is:

  • aimed at ambitious managers who want to study part-time while they work
  • delivered in three-day block weekend teaching sessions every 4-6 weeks, supported by distance learning
  • taught by our international fly-in faculty
  • delivered in the first-class educational facilities of Dubai Knowledge Village

Our ‘long weekend’ teaching format provides you with a period of concentrated study that has minimal impact on your career and family life.

If you are unable to make a weekend you can study the module online, anywhere in the world.

From day one you’ll be able to apply new knowledge and skills in your workplace.

You'll develop a broad foundation of knowledge in core modules, and focus your studies around a particular sector or discipline in elective modules.

The final Management Project enables you to apply all you’ve learnt to a relevant management issue within your organisation.

Professional accreditation

We are proud to be in an elite group of business schools to hold the triple accreditations of Equis, AMBA and AACSB, often referred to as the "Triple Crown".

Our School of Management MBA courses have been endorsed by the NHS Leadership Academy to deliver the NHS Master's in Business Administration (MBA) programme, as announced in a speech by the Secretary of State in 2016.

What you will study

The programme provides you with the skills of responsible value generation.

The aim, therefore, is to create strategic leaders capable of sustainable and transformative change in a global business environment.

Core Modules

Option Modules

Learning and assessment

Teaching for all modules in Dubai takes place in blocks over a weekend - Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9:00-18:00.

The teaching weekends are usually spaced four weeks apart, going up to nine weeks in some instances.

This is to accommodate Ramadan and holiday periods.

At Bradford core modules are taught from Friday to Sunday 9:00-18:00.

A limited number of electives are available over a weekend. Most are available as blocks during May–June over Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Some electives are only available online, for example Circular Economy, Core Principles and Concepts.

An example timetable can be provided on request, during the application process.

The majority of modules are available online. This means that if you are unable to make a weekend, you can study the module online instead, thus providing you with greater flexibility.

Assessment is mainly by a 2,000 word assignment. The Management Project is 9,000 words.

Career prospects

An MBA is an opportunity to either change career direction or consolidate experience then return and progress in a previous industry or job. The Financial Times Global MBA rankings show that, on average, 20% of alumni achieve board-level positions within three years of graduation.

On completion of the programme participants go into a wide variety of functions and sectors, including IT/Telecoms, Finance & Banking and Industry being amongst the most popular.

Study support

Our teaching staff can offer face-to-face guidance during the 'long weekend' teaching sessions. You'll also receive support from a dedicated programme administration team. All course material is available online. This includes a study book, lecture slides and audio, alongside discussion boards that students can use for support during their studies In addition to the face-to-face teaching four online tutorials are available after the weekend module. These will be led by the lecturer who conducted the module.

Research

The programme is research-led, and applies the latest thinking and concepts to managerial and business issues (for example Business Ethics and Sustainability, and the Circular Economy).

Reliability Engineering and Asset Management is a critical field of managerial and technical importance to many industries. It is estimated that significant annual typical plant cost is spent maintaining plant. Maintenance costs are likely to influence competitiveness on a global scale which allows Maintenance Managers to make major impacts on their companies' bottom line.

The  programme  is a key element in increasing industrial competitiveness and is a sophisticated discipline which embraces management techniques, organisation, planning and the application of substantial electronic, engineering and analytical knowledge to manufacturing processes, transport, power generation and the efficient operation of industrial, commercial and civic buildings. On completion of the course students will be able to obtain one of the following degrees: MSc, Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert).

Course Description

The programme consists of course units which include various aspects of applied management and technology in the field of REAM. It is designed such that after enrolment participants already working in industry will benefit from the structure and content of the course in order to enhance their capability in Reliability Engineering and Asset Management. Our  teaching staff  are internationally recognised professionals with years of experience working in industry and academic institutions.

The course is offered as indicated below:

MSc -  Part time Distance Learning 2 years**

There will be four workshops each academic year at The University of Manchester's Middle East Centre, located at the heart of Dubai's Knowledge Park. At these workshops, you will undertake practical activities in small multinational groups and complete applied maintenance challenges that are relevant to your workplace. Our approach combines the very best interactive e-learning with the Manchester Method - the `action learning' approach developed here at The University of Manchester in the 1960s.

In addition to your face to face workshop for each unit you will also complete a dissertation project. You will be supported by an academic supervisor relevant to your chosen project area and will have regular contact with them to support your study.

Our web-based platform generates an interactive environment with real, active communication between students and staff and between groups of students throughout the programme after the class room teaching.

Coursework and assessment

Each taught unit of the programme has three assessments:

  1. Short assignment (15%) completed in the 5-day direct taught residential;
  2. Major written assignment (50%) which is submitted at the end of the semester;
  3. 2 Hour closed book examination (35%) at the end of the semester.

Dissertation Project

The  dissertation project  is intended to address a real issue in Reliability Engineering and Asset Management and is studied in depth, relating problems in the field to theory, case studies and solution reported in the literature, and often creating innovative proposals and field trials. All students have access to laboratory resources where appropriate. The dissertation starts in the second semester and is to be completed by the end of the programme.

Why this course?

Strathclyde Business School has been delivering the Strathclyde MBA on an executive (part-time) basis via our international centres since 1988. We’ve successfully offered and developed the MBA in the UAE since 1995.

A pioneering and experienced MBA provider, we update and review our MBA to reflect the current business environment. Strathclyde’s MBA is strategy-focused and blends theoretical and practical business learning. Our MBA is flexible, and responsive to the needs of working individuals. Our wide choice of electives can help you personalise the programme to suit your business interests. These elective classes can be studied in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, as well as in Glasgow or at our other international centres, to give you an international learning and networking experience.

The MBA project gives you an opportunity to examine in depth a managerial, organisational or environmental issue of your choice over an extended period of time.

Our Executive MBA allows you to study whilst continuing with your career and allows you to implement your learning into work.

What is the programme format?

The programme is designed for busy executives who need to combine career and family commitments with the demands of MBA studies. The flexibility of the part-time approach enables most participants to graduate within two years. However, study may be spread over a longer period if necessary, to a maximum of six years.

Typically, your MBA studies will be made up of:

  • monthly intensive seminars delivered by Strathclyde academics at both our Abu Dhabi and Dubai centres
  • regular tutorials with our locally based counsellors
  • off-campus learning and support via our virtual learning environment

You’ll work in an international environment alongside like-minded classmates and be part of our long established network of students and alumni from our international postgraduate centres.

A highlight of the Strathclyde calendar is the annual MBA Summer School which takes place in Glasgow, over May and June. The summer school is open to all study routes of the MBA who have reached the elective stage of the programme. It's a great way to accelerate your studies, and network with a large group of international colleagues.

Locations

The cornerstone of the Hult experience is the opportunity to explore new business cultures, master new skills, and gain a uniquely global perspective by studying in your choice of the world’s most influential cities.

LONDON - SAN FRANCISCO - BOSTON - DUBAI - NEW YORK

Invaluable global experience

The only way to learn global business is to experience it. Our pioneering approach allows you to complete your EMBA while studying in several of the world's most influential cities: London, Dubai, Boston, San Francisco and New York.

Central locations in every city.

Study in the heart of global commerce. Our central campuses are situated where the influence, power, and culture of each city is. You’ll experience the business customs of the location firsthand, and learn local business knowledge each time you step outside the classroom.

Rotate without missing a beat in your program

Hult prides itself on being the sole provider of its Global Campus Rotation program — it is not like exchange programs that only offer study abroad opportunities via other institutions. This means your studies will be seamless and uninterrupted, regardless of where you rotate.

How it works

Where do you want to call home?

EMBA students can choose from three home campuses – London, Dubai, and Boston. Your home campus is where you complete the core courses and leadership program. You can choose to stay at your home campus for the entire length of your program if you prefer not to rotate.

Where do you want to rotate to first?

During the summer, you have the option of taking electives at any of Hult’s home campuses, or our rotation centers in San Francisco and New York. You can choose to stay at the same campus for the next module if you prefer to only rotate once.

Where do you want to rotate to next?

If you want to experience even more of Hult's global campus locations, you can choose to take your two final electives at any of Hult’s five campuses worldwide. That includes all three of our home campuses, and our rotation centers in San Francisco and New York.

Our Fixed & Removable Prosthodontics MClinDent is a comprehensive restorative dentistry programme focusing on fixed and removable prosthodontics, designed to advance skills in complex multi-disciplinary dental problems.

Designed for dental practitioners in high-level practice, you will use these skills in your own practice throughout the course. This course is mostly delivered online, so you can study anywhere in the world with minimum disruption to your professional and personal life while benefitting from world-class teaching.

A key feature of this innovative blended learning programme is the face-to-face teaching block which takes place in the first three years. An invaluable way to consolidate learning, and network with peers and teachers, you will benefit from between 9-10 days of continuous intensive training and learning in each of years one to three. Students may now choose to attend this in London or Dubai, at state-of-the-art clinical training facilities in both locations.

Key benefits

  • Internationally renowned centre of excellence for teaching and research in dentistry.
  • Pioneers of distance learning in dentistry with over 20 years’ experience.
  • Course material delivered by a team of highly experienced clinical tutors and academics, many of whom are world-leaders in their field.
  • Intensive face-to-face residential blocks to learn and practice contemporary clinical techniques at world-class training facilities – now in London and Dubai
  • Students develop their clinical skills in restorative dentistry, enabling treatment of a wider variety of patients and referring fewer patients externally.

We have designed the course to advance your skills, especially in complex multi-disciplinary dental problems such as tooth wear, complex aesthetics and occlusal problems.

We have designed this course to provide theory, support and discussion groups using a dedicated virtual learning environment, so that you can access content wherever you are in the world.

Our programme director, Professor Brian Millar, has helped many dental graduates, both nationally and internationally, to achieve their postgraduate goals, and develop their clinical skills in restorative dentistry, enabling treatment of a wider variety of patients and referring fewer patients externally.

View course taster.

Please note - Clinical support for FRP students is provided through:

  • clinical case discussion for diagnosis and treatment planning
  • comprehensive tutor feedback on clinical work completed in practice
  • case discussion opportunities during the face to face teaching blocks
  • tutor guided online seminars for case discussion and treatment planning

While advice regarding patient treatment is given by our experienced clinical team, the clinical responsibility for patient treatment remains with the clinician providing the treatment.

Intensive face-to-face training blocks

Delivered primarily online, the course also provides 28 days of intensive teaching and practical training in London or Dubai over the first three years. Our expert tutors will give you guidance on complex dental procedures at specialist teaching centres. When you apply for the course, you will be able to opt to attend either at LonDEC in London or at the 3M Innovation Center in Dubai. Places at both centres are subject to availability and early application is advised to secure your preference. These blocks are an invaluable way to consolidate learning and progress through the course.

Teaching

You will be taught mostly online through King's E-learning and Teaching Service (KEATS) which provides information, interactive questions, assignments, use of bibliographic databases and reading material. This gives you the freedom to study without interrupting your work and personal life, and to put your skills directly into practice. Our students participate in online tutorials and discussion groups, interacting with expert tutors and their fellow students. Face-to-face lectures and hands-on training take place in blocks in the first three years. Students are required to undertake and build a reflective log of clinical work in their own general practice.

Course format and assessment

60% per cent of each module will be assessed through exams and 40% through assignments, with the exception of the Clinical 1 and 2 modules, which are assessed through a portfolio of case work, and the Research module which will be a dissertation.

You can take your exams in London or, for overseas students, at centres in your country of residence.
