The Master of Management is a specialised management program that focuses specifically on management issues around people, such as negotiation and conflict resolution, international dynamics and governance, and human resources.

The Master of Management is ideal if you hope to work in mid-to-senior level management positions in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. The course offers weekend and intensive workshops, guest speakers and lecturers, and is available to both international and local domestic students.

In the final semester of the Master of Management you may be eligible for a position in an internship program where you will be placed in an organisation to gain a hands-on experience of management. You will also be involved in the planning or implementation of a project as desired and directed by the organisation. This placement and associated project will involve applying the knowledge you have learned in the Masters of Management program. This course is designed to produce engineers capable of designing, operating and managing a mining operation. There are two major options: Mine Geotechnical and Mine Planning and Management.

The course and majors are suitable if you wish to gain specialist knowledge in mining engineering or are a graduate currently working within the mining industry and want to significantly upgrade your knowledge with a view to furthering your career in this field.

Individualised project topics are developed with a nominated supervisor. Career paths for mining professionals include in-house specialists in mining companies or employment as consultants, academics and researchers.

This course provides you with both a multidisciplinary education and hands-on training in petroleum engineering.

Upon obtaining your master degree, you will be prepared to work as part of the upstream oil and gas industry. Units such as formation evaluation, field development planning and petroleum economics will prepare you to get involved in technical and managerial areas in particular.

Professional recognition

Students may apply for student membership of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (U.S). Upon graduation you may apply for active membership of the society.

Career opportunities

Graduates find work as fully qualified petroleum engineers in the upstream oil and gas industry.

You will be eligible to receive credit for recognised learning for all the units successfully completed as a part of the diploma. If you successfully complete a Graduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering from Curtin with a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 65%; and score no less than 65% in core areas, you may also apply to enter this course.
