The Master of Education is designed for educators who shall be admitted on the basis of their prior qualifications and who, in most cases, are working in educational roles across diverse settings.
Educators are provided with the opportunity to further their qualifications through professional development. This coursework program aligns with the requirements and specifications of the Australian Quality Framework (AQF) and provides three major areas of expertise relevant to professional educators. The Master of Education does not lead to teacher registration.
The flexible 18 month Master of Education coursework program entails four core subjects, including an enquiry-based project, and provides the opportunity to specialise in up to two majors.

Leadership and Management Major

The Leadership and Management major is relevant to aspiring, expectant and existing leaders wanting to raise their effectiveness and improve their performance in leadership and management. This major is relevant to professionals working in schools, universities (as well as Government), community and corporate organisations.
Interested parties include: specialist generalists, lead teachers, head teachers, subject masters and coordinators, administrators, support teachers, educational consultants and supervisors, human resource management team members, and system supervisors.
If you undertake our Leadership and Management major you will:

master of laws (LLM)

at Delaware Law is designed for attorneys from the U.S. and abroad who seek to expand their knowledge in a specialized area of current practice—or who want to develop a new area of legal expertise. The program welcomes graduates of American JD programs as well as international students who have completed a degree in law from a qualifying non-U.S. law school.

Students who choose to complete a general master of laws program at Delaware Law School in a seated class format, may enjoy campus life with our on-campus housing, access to exercise facilities, involvement in student clubs, and the opportunity to visit local courthouses and government.

. Please note, however, that the LLM programs that are offered entirely online will not by themselves permit the graduate to take a bar examination in the United States.

Degree Requirements

To earn a general LLM, students must complete 24 semester hours of coursework. Typically, the 24 semester hours of coursework can be completed in one academic year. Students in an online LLM program have the option to structure their program at a more flexible pace, completing the program over two years. All coursework, however, must be completed within four years from the date of matriculation.

Corporate Law & Finance (on-campus only)

With more than one million companies incorporated in Delaware, there is no better place to pursue a master of laws in corporate law and finance than Delaware Law. Our location in Wilmington – often referred to as the “Corporate Capital of America” – gives you a front-row seat to courts and law firms on the leading edge of corporate law.

To earn a LLM in corporate law and finance, students must complete 24 semester hours of coursework at the graduate level, in corporate-related areas like commercial law, business acquisitions, or intellectual property. Graduate courses in corporate law and finance are worth between two and four semester hours of credit. At least 18 of the 24 semester hours must be completed in residence at Delaware Law, although students may complete this residence requirement as either a full-time or part-time student.

In order to qualify for the LLM, students must complete all program requirements within four years from the date of matriculation.

The economic and financial aspects of corporate governance relationships have long been of concern to those in the business and investment communities, and in recent years the social, political and moral aspects of these relationships have also become a major public concern. This programme aims to address both these sets of issues and to meet the needs of people wishing to engage critically with the policy aspects of corporate governance as well as those wishing to be involved professionally in the direction and regulation of companies and the management or trusteeship of pension funds and other investments.

The programme is available for full-time study over 1 year or part-time study over 2 years and combines coursework with independent research, leading to a dissertation. This course provides graduates with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to teach Business at secondary level. Time is spent in the University and in classroom placements, ensuring that by the end of the course, trainees are confident professionals ready to begin teaching in secondary schools.

Qualifications

The award is offered at three levels. All are recognised teaching qualifications, but the postgraduate awards will allow fast-track entry to Masters courses:

1. Professional Graduate Certificate in Education
2. Postgraduate Certificate in Education

The choice of which qualification to take will be made while on the course, successful completion of which will lead to recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

What will I study?

The course aims to develop an understanding of the specialist subject in the context of the National Curriculum. In particular, the principles involved in the teaching and learning of the subject across the full age and ability range and the professional values and practice, subject knowledge and understanding commensurate with the particular subject specialism. This includes how children learn and how they develop cognitively, socially and physically and the understanding, skills and personal qualities necessary for managing the learning environment.

All trainees undertake a module concerned with the wider context of schools and education. This develops the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for your first teaching post in a secondary school. It also builds a foundation for further professional development. Elements of this module include both whole cohort keynote lectures and seminars, many of which are led by mixed groups of trainees supported by tutors. This allows you to meet the Teacher Standards by making secure connections between issues in school and your own professional practice.

Assessment

University-based modules: Learning and Teaching in the Subject, and Learning and Teaching in the Wider Context, are assessed at the end of the modules with reflection against the Teacher Standards. You will also conduct a piece of research-based, professional enquiry within the classroom, which is assessed by a formal written report and presentation of findings. A separate, formal assessment also takes place in practical teaching.

Placements

School or college experience is central to the course and at least 24 weeks are spent on placement in at least two different secondary schools or colleges. During the first phase, two days of school or college experience each week for three weeks are spent in school leading up to a six-week block placement. Trainee teachers are gradually given more responsibility and increase their contribution in both the classroom and to the corporate life of the school.

The second phase begins with a two day, weekly attachment for the first three weeks of the spring term, leading up to the final assessed 13-week block placement. In both placements the training programme is planned by mentors to allow progressive acquisition of the skills, knowledge and understanding students need to be recommended for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Students are formally observed on a regular basis by their subject mentor as well as receiving a number of visits from the University, to monitor their progress, support their development and undertake their assessment.
