The MSc Computational Trading programme allows students to bridge the gap between financial theory and work experience.
Our partnership with City-based Amplify Trading will enable you to gain hands-on experience of stock market analysis on a live trading platform. Amplify provides financial software used within the development programmes of leading investment banks including Bank of America, HSBC, Citigroup, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank. By the end of the programme you will be capable of trading effectively in equity, bond, commodity and foreign exchange markets and you will be ready to take up a role within leading institutions in the financial and commodity trading sector.
We focus on real time approaches to trading, including features of specific financial tools and the interaction of macroeconomic, financial, technical and behavioural drivers in financial markets. Our highly interactive teaching techniques include the use of Eviews Econometrics software, R programming language and specialised trading platform. You will engage with theoretical, applied and practical (hands on) learning.
We benefit from our close proximity to one of the world's largest financial centres, Canary Wharf, which lies just across the river. We work closely with the financial and professional services companies that are based there. Industry guest lecturers have included BBC, Bank of England, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers and many more.
Along with lectures and seminars students will be involved in additional activity, including; laboratory trading practical classes, supervised lab practical work; project supervision; demonstrations, workshops, and many more. The programme is run over a series of 9 weeks in total, each week is 35 hours long within the following months: January, February, March, April, September and an additional week in the months of May and June.

Fees and finance
Your time at university should be enjoyable and rewarding, and it is important that it is not spoilt by unnecessary financial worries. We recommend that you spend time planning your finances, both before coming to university and while you are here. Assessments will include a variety of formative and summative assessments with interactive feed-forward and feedback opportunities to encourage students to engage effectively in active/participatory learning. Formative assessments include: problem-sets; simulations; case studies. Summative assessments include: portfolio; group presentations; simulations; trading activities and tasks; examinations.

A wide variety of roles within asset management, trading, sales trading, research and financial analysis. You will graduate able to develop your own trading strategies and make decisions across all trading platforms, enabling you to work as an independent trader or as a trader in investment banks, private equity, leverage buyout, venture capital firms, secondary funds, hedge funds or dealing in competitive spreads.
