This course focuses on games and animation but is also suitable for students interested in related areas such as film, comics and illustration. You will undertake project based course work supported by dedicated staff with a wealth of practical experience of both the commercial and academic worlds.Your teaching is supported by close links to industry. In previous years we have had a range of visiting lecturers – a senior concept artist from Double Negative, an art director from Ubisoft, the director of Atomhawk and representatives from Dreamworks and Microsoft. We have also had visits from a range of freelancers specialising in areas such as character design, storyboarding and matte painting. Industry experts are actively involved in setting you tasks and providing feedback
There are two routes you can choose from to gain an MA Concept Art for Games and Animation:
The postgraduate course covers specialist areas – character design, environment design and storytelling. You also focus on core drawing skills including regular life drawing classes. The course concludes with a final project – we support you to create a brief that enables you to specialise in your chosen area of interest.
You develop the cognitive and technical skills to equip you for enterprise, employment and further academic research. As a graduate, practising artist and designer or mid-career professional, you can engage in reflective creative practice at an advanced level.

Critical reflection is key to successful problem solving and essential to the creative process. To develop your own reflective practice at an advanced level, you test and assess your solutions against criteria that you develop in the light of your research.
How you are assessed
You are assessed through the production of a portfolio of creative work and a written report. Feedback is given during lectures and tutorials, and using online methods.

This is a full-time, 180-point Master's programme. You will complete this qualification in three consecutive trimesters over 12 months, delivered at Victoria University's Miramar Creative Centre.
Covers computer graphics techniques that are used as current practice in the film industry through a range of projects ranging from generating special effects to the algorithmic treatment of media.

Learn and practice skills relating to previsualisation, production planning and coordination for creating assets, effects and content for Visual Effects and Motion Graphics.
Covers skills and techniques for creating and working with human, creature and mechanical rigs and controls for digital character animation.
Engage with toi (Māori creativity) and mātauranga (Māori understanding) in the production of both visual and material cultural design that honours our place and past in Aotearoa New Zealand. Guided by traditional Māori protocols and knowledge, students will learn how to understand and interact with Māori symbols and visual spatial strategies in ways that are culturally sound and appropriate.
Covers advanced investigations into topics relevant to professional practice for design today including branding, marketing, networking, presentation and portfolio.

Trimester Three: Research Practicum
This studio consists of a supervised practicum, working on a design studio based research and project, generally as a placement in the visual effects industry.
Graduate with a sought-after combination of technical knowledge and experience appropriate for working in the Visual Effects industry or other creative digital fields.
Combine footage and CG assets together to produce visual effects for film and media.
Bring digital characters to life with expressive movement and emotions.
Animate typography, graphical elements and imagery to produce compelling animations.
The Master of Science in Urbanism and Strategic Planning (MaUSP) is a four-semester academic degree offered within the Faculty of Engineering Science by the Department of Architecture. The programme interacts with research conducted by the research groups active in the department.
The MaUSP programme is part of the European Postgraduate Masters in Urbanism (EMU), and students can apply to attend one or two semesters abroad at one of the partner universities - UPC Barcelona, TU Delft or IUAV Venezia - to obtain the additional European Postgraduate Master of Urbanism.
The joint EMU programme is a collaborative effort bringing together the best components of existing curricula, creating new courses and offering a top-ranking professional degree by combining the specificity and strengths of the participating universities. The consortium functions as a platform for promoting an exchange of knowledge, ideas, and research projects on current urban trends in Europe and the world.
Courses are organised according to the following set up:
Design studios form the heart of the programme, a status reflected in their credit load. They are organised as two full days of work on Mondays and Tuesdays to provide an intensive and immersive working environment, as occurs in most professional practices. They also are courses where a balance between teamwork and individual contribution is developed, since students are subdivided in small but varied groups from inception.
Depending on the track students choose (urbanism or planning), certain optional courses become compulsory.
After successfully completing the programme, you will have acquired a thorough knowledge of urbanisation in different contexts. You will have learned to work on various scale levels, with an understanding of the interferences between scales. You will be able to conduct a critical analysis of spatial phenomena in relation to the social and economic forces driving them. Building upon such analysis, you can design strategic interventions that are politically and economically feasible, and that have a structural impact. You will have developed excellent communication skills, visually as well as textually, and you will be able to function in a research environment.
Graduates will be able to provide professional architectural and/or urban design experience to design offices, consultancy firms, or work as public servants. Urbanism is closely related to current and rapid social transformation and there is a continual need for professionals capable of elaborating new interpretations, strategies and designs in response to emerging trends. MaUSP graduates are highly valued in urban design offices, consultancy firms for urban development and management, real estate agencies that develop public-private partnerships and the public sector.

When designing our animation courses we spent a lot of time in the development stages discussing our ideas with industry creatives, graduates and students. As a result, the Animation team has developed a unique and ground-breaking philosophy that affects everything we do: ‘CREATIVE EMPLOYABLE THINKERS’: The idea is simple, everything you do on this course will be aimed at you becoming a Creative Employable Thinker. Every module you study, every grade you receive, all the feedback you get will be based around the central aim of you becoming a Creative Employable Thinker.
This MA in Animation will help you advance the skills you already have and develop the skills you aspire to gain.
There are many careers within the Animation industries, so we have designed a curriculum that allows you to mould your experience to suit your needs. We will encourage you to explore and develop in the creative areas you are most passionate about, allowing you to specialise in single production area such as (but not limited to): storyboarding, directing, concept art, character design, script writing etc.
We believe that no two creative people are the same, so we encourage you to follow your instincts and identify your personal creative potential.
Modules and Assessment
You will take part in both formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments provide feedback on work in progress; this is done during in weekly sessions, as well as in writing throughout the course.
You will use blogging to document your research, progress, learning, reflections and thinking. The blogs are a useful tool within the formative and summative assessment processes and will help you develop your professional voice.
Summative assessment is given as the final grade which a rigorous procedure often involving two or more members of staff, students work is examined in accordance to the Module Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria which is stipulated on the Assessment Brief (given at the beginning of each Semester).
The resources and equipment in Animation fully support the aspiration for high end productions to be created. You are encouraged to work to industry standard and aspire to award winning animations.

This exciting programme of study, which aims to develop the craft and philosophy of costume design for live performance, screen, or site-specific installation, is unique in its approach.
You will develop your concepts and creativity by interpreting a text or exploring a theme, thinking about character, movement and the performance environment. Instruction in the skills of pattern cutting, textile manipulation, millinery, puppetry, set design, Computer Aided Design (CAD), welding, knitting, illustration and life drawing help you expand your skills base.
You will work on developing a comprehensive understanding of fabric, costume design and cutting, while exploring the historical and dramatic perspectives of the discipline and the process of performance. This creative freedom and the combination of the practical developing alongside the conceptual, will provide you with a wide range of skills and a flexibility valued and highly respected by the industry.
Postgraduate students are ideally placed to study the interaction between costume and the other arts such as fashion, textiles, jewellery, film and TV, animation, illustration, installation, music and dance, and to take part in collaborations inside and outside of the University.

This project-led programme is assessed by the production of a body of practical and written work on an agreed, self-initiated topic which can take advantage of the many local and international performance-based opportunities.
Your project could be led by narrative, theme, or performance medium. It should offer scope for sustained research and design development for costume design. Your study will combine practical studio work with theoretical and written studies, including professional practice elements to prepare you for employment in the industry, and a lecture/seminar series which will examine the wider context of your studies.
Postgraduate studies in performance costume open up access to a wide range of work for the stage and screen. You will benefit from the superb reputation of this programme and may find employment within the spheres of drama, opera, film and television.
Graduates of performance costume have an outstanding record of success within the industry, most recently including a costume designer for British television series Downton Abbey, and costume workers on TV series Game of Thrones, Outlander, Poldark, Endeavour and The Halcyon, and on the films Star Wars and Doctor Strange.
The master´s programme in Aeronautical Engineering at Linköping University offers a holistic view on aircraft design. An aircraft is a complex, integrated, closely connected system of various technologies and disciplines such as: aerodynamics, structure, propulsion, actuation systems and other on-board systems.
All these disciplines need to be optimised in order to achieve the functionality and efficiency required of an aircraft. The latter part of the programme involves a project in which these disciplines come together and challenge students to design, build and fly an aircraft, or a subscale version.
Linköping is the aviation capital of Sweden and one of few aviation cities in the world. Saab Aeronautics, the producer of the highly successful Gripen fighter aircraft, is a major actor in the region. Other related companies and military aviation establishments that reinforce Linköping’s aviation character are located in or near the city. The Aeronautical Engineering programme benefits from this, as some of the teachers have affiliations to the industry. Moreover, there is close research and education collaborations between the university and the industry.
The first year of the programme deals with the fundamentals of aeronautics, such as aircraft design, aerodynamics, engineering system design, product modelling, and aircraft systems and installation. Throughout the programme, special attention is given to a thorough progression with significant use of contemporary engineering design tools. A mix of elective and mandatory courses prepares you for your master’s thesis durign the final semester. There is a possibility to specialise within Aerodynamics, Aircraft System Design or Aircraft Structure.
