The Brunel MBA is a one year full-time or 2 year part-time programme with three specialisation options:

A part-time MBA is now also available. The Brunel MBA part-time programme is designed to maximise your career impact in the global market over a 2 year study period, without having to take a break from work. Indicative study patterns for the part-time MBA are 12 hours per week over a maximum of three days (with some classes on Saturdays), making the programme an ideal option for full-time working professionals in and around London.

Aims

The Brunel MBA recruits managers and other professionals of high calibre who can both benefit from and contribute to an intellectually challenging management programme.

Choosing the General Management specialisation can help students to become a better manager all-round – from corporate business finance to international strategy, from harnessing IT technology to marketing. Students gain a more informed output into senior management decision making or consultancy within the industry. This General Management specialisation focuses on giving students the skills of practical application of knowledge to solving contemporary business issues, identifying your strengths and weaknesses, maximizing your assets and turning them into a more profitable future.

The Aviation Management specialised MBA is deeply rooted in the Aviation industry and informed by extensive cutting-edge aviation research. It is designed for professionals working for airlines, airports authorities and supply and support services within the aviation sector such as engineers, logistics, catering, cargo, energy, safety, security, IT and travel and tourism. The Healthcare Management specialised MBA is focused on application of knowledge in the Healthcare industry and enables students to develop managerial skills to handle real-life business situations in the sector. The MBA (Healthcare Management) award is designed for professionals in strategic health authorities, primary care trusts and hospital administration, and for those working in the growing number of private health contractors, outside suppliers and consultancies.

International Business Tour
MBA students have the opportunity to embark annually on a Business Tour to one of the main economic hubs in the world, where they learn about operations of multinational corporations. A recent visit included a weeklong trip to one of the leading BRIC economies: India. Students had a unique opportunity to meet with senior directors of companies such as Cadburys, McDonalds and Merrill Lynch – as well as a number of local social enterprises and SMEs.

Graduate Entrepreneur programme

Brunel University is pleased to announce that we have once again been awarded ten places on this year's Graduate Entrepreneur programme, plus an additional ten places just for Brunel MBA Graduates.
Under the scheme selected graduates can stay on in the UK and work towards setting up their own business, under a special branch of the Tier 1 Route. Brunel provides Immigration sponsorship and mentoring for those graduates selected.

Lectures

Web-learning and Support
eLearning and knowledge management are now standard ways in which companies communicate with their employees. Students will be expected to engage with online material using the university’s web‑based learning facility, Blackboard Learn.

Assessment

Modules are typically assessed by individual assessment, or an examination.
Coursework and examinations place considerable stress on the ability to think and reason critically, but constructively.
The dissertation (12,000 words) is the capstone demonstration of these skills, requiring students to conceive, justify, design and execute a major project.

As part of the MBA students receive advice on all aspects of career planning, including reassessment of their true strengths and weaknesses. The Master’s specialisation International Economics & Development is theoretically unique in that we not only deal with the problems that poor countries face, but also with interesting new developments taking place in the Global South. We will discuss the rise of the BRIC countries, concentrating on both the potential they have as well as the challenges they face. We will also look at unique new economic phenomena within developing countries, like the emergence of a complete pro-poor banking system based on mobile phone credits in Kenya and other parts of Africa (known as m-pesa).

- Understanding economic changes in the developing world
Our unique and interesting combination of subjects will provide you with a well-rounded understanding in this field. Apart from development economics students will get an academic understanding of economics methodology, the role of international financial markets, behavioural economics and the important influence culture has on economic phenomena. And thanks to a choice of elective subjects, you can give your programme a unique focus that meets your academic interests.

Students taking this Master’s specialisation will learn how to understand and analyse economic changes taking place throughout the developing world. Students will be taught how to discover determinants and develop indicators that make it possible to monitor changes at the sub-national level in great detail. One of the tools our students can use is our Database Developing World (DDW). This database constitutes a unique window to the developing world, making it possible to study important processes on a scale and with a degree of detail that is unique in the world.

The DDW also holds indicators for seven of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which range from halving extreme poverty rates to empowering woman and providing universal primary education. How to apply

Applying to study at RUL is a quick and easy process. We accept direct applications, have no formal application deadlines and there is no application fee.

Step 1 Apply

You can apply in the following ways:

•Apply online

Once you have completed the application form, please send us the following supporting documents, by post, email or fax:

•Copies of academic transcripts and certificates of all academic study undertaken after secondary school
•One letter of academic reference
•A copy of your CV/resumé showing your work experience if applicable.
•A 300 to 500-word personal statement in support of your application, outlining your reasons for applying to your chosen programme and how you feel you will benefit from the course of study
•A copy of your passport photograph (ID) page
•One recent passport-sized, colour photograph, jpeg format (this must be emailed to us at )
•If not a native English speaker, proof of your English proficiency

Please note: most candidates will be assessed for admission on the basis of their submitted application materials. However, RUL reserves the right to invite candidates for interview and to reject those who decline to attend.

Step 2 Making an offer

We will assess whether you meet our minimum entry requirements and will make you an offer by both email and post, or notify you that you have been unsuccessful.

If you have completed your education and have met all the entry requirements, you will be sent an unconditional offer. If you still have to finish your exams, or have yet to submit supporting documentation, we will make you a conditional offer.

You can expect to receive a decision on your application within 10 working days of receipt of your completed application and supporting documents.

Step 3 Accepting the offer

If you wish to accept the offer you must:

•Confirm your acceptance via email/post/telephone/in person
•Pay the registration fee (non-refundable)
•Pay the non-EU advance tuition fee deposit, if applicable (non-refundable)
•Please note: although there is no formal deadline to pay your registration fee or non-EU advance deposit, if you need to apply for an international student visa to study in the UK, then we recommend that you pay these as soon as possible.

Step 4 Full acceptance and visa

On receipt of your acceptance we will issue the final set of documentation and, where needed, the relevant visa support documentation. To find out if you need a student visa please consult the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) website for current information: http://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-visas-and-immigration (please note it is your own responsibility to arrange the appropriate visa).
