The Bradford MPH is designed for those looking to move into public health, policy or community development at a senior level, and is suitable for candidates from diverse undergraduate study backgrounds and / or professional experience. The programme retrains students into future healthcare leaders who understand health policy, community change, human behaviour change, or health service design.

The Bradford MPH addresses the central practice dilemma for public health today – how to address the challenges of an ageing society suffering from increasing and multiple chronic diseases in a context of standstill or diminishing resources.

The programme develops strategic leaders with a comprehensive, analytical and critical understanding of the wider determinants of population health and well-being. The programme places emphasis on leadership and strategic thinking, developed through comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and evaluation.

Graduates will be equipped to address contemporary Public Health challenges such as changing health demographics, health inequalities, problems of access, quality, and continuity of care, and ageing and end of life care. It will help healthcare professionals to find creative policy solutions and implement tailored practice-interventions. Graduates will be change agents identifying ways to address health problems but also to innovate by building on community and health service assets to enhance the quality of life for millions of people in a safe, ethical and cost effective way.

The programme is be tailored to the demographic and epidemiological challenges of contemporary urban societies - the diseases of affluence and ageing, and the marginalized and vulnerable populations produced by these kinds of settings. The focus on infectious disease management and international health, though necessarily addressed in our curriculum, will not receive concentrated focus as it does in so many other MPH programmes in the UK.

MPH students will have access to the new DHEZ Academic Building. This centre, opening in 2017, provides patient services in pathology, optometry, physiotherapy, and community pharmacy. It also houses a health promotion unit specialising in ageing and end of life care issues, and an evaluation and trials unit designed to evaluate new health technologies designed by businesses.
There are also innovative partnerships with primary health/GP providers as well as new mental health promotion programmes (e.g. Recovery Colleges) that students will access either in demonstration events or within actual teaching modules that encourage students to meet with the actual academic researchers and innovators behind these programmes.

The academic team behind the programme include University of Bradford 50th Anniversary Chair Professor Allan Kellehear, and a transdisciplinary development team including the School of Pharmacy and School of Engineering at the University of Bradford.
The programme is offered on a full and part-time to accommodate the needs of professionals working in industry. The programme can be studied over 12 months full time, or two years part time (up to five years by credit accumulation).

Professional Accreditation

The programme has been mapped onto the Faculty of Public Health syllabus for the Part A examinations of the Faculty of Public Health and up to Level 7 of the Public Health Skills and Career Framework (Public Health Resource, 2008.) Specialism is possible through the choice of elective modules and dissertation topic.

Once you start the distance learning MBA programme you become part of the Bradford University School of Management student community. Bradford has a great pride in this sense of community and throughout your studies they ensure that you have every opportunity to develop your professional network while also learning from the experiences of other students. Management Project

At the end of your taught studies you will be required to put into practice what you have learnt during the various modules and complete a 12,500 – 15,000 word management project. The University of Bradford allows its students a great deal of flexibility in their management projects. For example, you may wish to reflect on your academic learning and apply it to a problem currently facing the organisation you work for. You may wish to investigate an issue effecting not just one organisation but an entire industry, or you may wish to conduct ‘desk based research’ – really getting to grips with all the academic arguments and issues surrounding a subject area in order to develop a new management framework.

Throughout the project you will be guided by an experienced academic and you will have access to the School of Management Effective Learning department. The Effective Learning service often proves to be very useful providing students with a clear understanding and guidelines on what is required in order to successfully complete their project.

Programme Assessment

In order to ensure that you have gained the required skills and knowledge you will have to successfully complete a form of assessment for each module. The assessment may be an individual written assignment, an exam or a mixture of both.

So that you can monitor your progress as you work your way through each module there are a number of opportunities for formative assessment (i.e. assessment that will not count to your overall grade). For example, you will be invited to submit 2 pieces of work to your individual tutor. Your tutor will read through the work and provide you with feedback. In addition to this, you will be encouraged to complete a series of online multiple choice questions for each unit studied. Exams can be sat at the University of Bradford, RDI’s Head Office in Coventry or can be arranged overseas via the British Council or at a recognised overseas academic institution at

The MSc in European and International Business Management, often referred to as the European Management Programme or EMP, is designed for students who wish to develop a truly international perspective on management, by sharing the experience of living and studying in three different European countries.

We offer the European Management Programme as part of our partnership with two other centres of excellence the Universidad de Deusto — Deusto Business School, Bilbao and AUDENCIA, Nantes, Ecole de Management in France. The course takes place in three countries, in three prestigious European institutions, and is taught in three languages: Spanish, French and English.

You spend your first term in Spain or France, your second in France or Spain, and your third at the School of Management in Bradford, UK. The course includes some language tuition, but you must be competent in at least two of the three languages used and have the ability to become proficient in the third. You spend the final 12 weeks of the course on work placement or writing a report.

The European Management Programme is a joint award of the three Institutions (Universidad de Deusto, Audencia, and University of Bradford). The Master's awarded is officially recognised by the Ministerio de Educación in Spain.

Modules

Compulsory modules are taught during the first six months in Deusto-Bilbao and Audencia-Nantes, and elective modules taught during the Spring period at Bradford. Students must simultaneously prepare a dissertation. After the Dissertation's viva and the electives' exams at Bradford, students undertake a tutored internship of three to six months.

Students who choose to take an elective module(s) in Bradford or at one of our partner institutions will have a wider range of choices, including modules such as Mergers and Acquisitions, Management Consulting and Global Supply Chain Management. Up to three modules may be taken in this way at no extra cost.

The management project is an integral part of the Bradford MBA and is often the most challenging and rewarding part of the programme. At the end of the taught programme you put into practice what you have learnt by investigating and reporting on an important management issue or opportunity. If you are sponsored by your employer, the project can relate to your workplace.

Otherwise, you may choose to use the project to deepen your knowledge of a different sector or organisation, or as a stepping stone to your next job. The project findings and recommendations are then written up in a 9,000-word dissertation.

Throughout the project you will be guided by an experienced academic and you will have access to the School of Management Effective Learning department. The Effective Learning service often proves to be very useful providing students with a clear understanding and guidelines on what is required in order to successfully complete their project.

Learning activities and assessment

Students are expected to take two subjects (modules) every three months.

Each module contains nine study units. Students typically progress by studying one unit from each module per week. This equates to approximately 14-16 hours of study per week. If you don't think that you have enough time to study two modules over the three month period you can always chose to study just one module, lightening your workload considerably.

If work or family life is particularly busy then you can even suspend your studies and restart at a later date. This flexibility means that students can complete a distance learning MBA in 2 to 6 years. We do however strongly advise that students study two modules every three months.

Study Abroad

You may decide you want to accelerate your studies, learn about a particular subject area, study alongside other University of Bradford School of Management students or simply broaden your horizons and spend some time studying overseas. You can do this by undertaking up to three block modules (i.e. 3-5 days of intensive study) at no extra cost (other than travel, accommodation and subsistence) at the School of Management or at any one of our partner institutions in Dubai and Singapore.

Management Project
The management project is an integral part of the Bradford MBA and is often the most challenging and rewarding part of the programme. At the end of the taught programme you put into practice what you have learnt by investigating and reporting on an important management issue or opportunity. If you are sponsored by your employer, the project can relate to your workplace.

Otherwise, you may choose to use the project to deepen your knowledge of a different sector or organisation, or as a stepping stone to your next job. The project findings and recommendations are then written up in a 15,000-word dissertation.

Throughout the project you will be guided by an experienced academic and you will have access to the School of Management Effective Learning department. The Effective Learning service often proves to be very useful providing students with a clear understanding and guidelines on what is required in order to successfully complete their project.

Learning activities and assessment

All our MBA programmes are made up of three stages:
-Core modules – designed to help you get back in to learning and provide fundamental knowledge of management principles and theory
-Elective modules – provide an in-depth understanding of specialist topics that are essential and relevant to the contemporary commercial world. Students choose those that are of most interest or greatest career benefit
-Management project – enables you to put the knowledge and skills gained throughout the programme to practical use on a relevant management issue

Circular Economy students are not required to attend any sessions at University of Bradford School of Management. However students can chose to study up to three modules (each running over 3-5 days) at the School of Management or at one of our partner institutions in Singapore or Dubai for no extra cost (other than travel and subsistence costs).

Your knowledge and understanding of each subject area studied will be assessed by the most appropriate means. This will typically involve the completion of a written assignment, an exam or in some cases an assignment and an exam. If you need to sit an exam we have approved examination centres worldwide, making it highly likely that there is an exam centre near you. Study Abroad

Learning will be directed, supported and reinforced through a combination of lectures, staff-led small group sessions, virtual learning environment (or equivalent) activities and guided private study. Sessions may be delivered weekly or in blocks. Small group sessions will use practical application of cases and case studies with oral feedback given in the class. Students will be directed to appropriate primary and secondary sources and be required to perform research and presentation exercises. The Employment Law module is a good example of this where students are required to research legal issues and prepare an oral submission of their findings at tutorials. All teaching will be supported by information supplied on the University's virtual learning environment. As a programme leading to professional membership, personal development planning is particularly important. The Developing Skills for Business Leadership module focuses on personal and professional skills assessment and development, using an e-portfolio, PebblePAD to support this.

The programme is summatively assessed by a mixture of examinations, coursework (group and individual) and presentations (group and individual). Skills assessment is both individual, group and by e-portfolio including a reflective journal. Detail is provided in the mapping appendix. Note that CIPD requirements are an unseen element of assessment in the core modules, HRM in Context and Leading, Managing and Developing People. The final award of Master will be gained by a successful completion of a bound dissertation on an agreed topic, which evidences a critical exposition of primary data (20,000 words). This one year, full-time programme investigates the functional marketing and international marketing activities of an organisation, understanding the context in which organisations conduct their business and how the business environment influences strategic and operational decision making in a national and international context.

The management project is an integral part of the Bradford MBA and is often the most challenging and rewarding part of the programme. At the end of the taught programme you put into practice what you have learnt by investigating and reporting on an important management issue or opportunity. If you are sponsored by your employer, the project can relate to your workplace.

Otherwise, you may choose to use the project to deepen your knowledge of a different sector or organisation, or as a stepping stone to your next job. The project findings and recommendations are then written up in a 9,000-word dissertation.

Throughout the project you will be guided by an experienced academic and you will have access to the School of Management Effective Learning department. The Effective Learning service often proves to be very useful providing students with a clear understanding and guidelines on what is required in order to successfully complete their project.

Learning activities and assessment

An innovative 10-month MBA programme, designed for experienced managers with the drive, energy and commitment to take on the challenge of our prestigious MBA in a shorter time frame. Commencing in January, this intensive programme offers the same learning outcomes as our one-year programme.

All our MBA programmes are made up of three stages:
