Projects and field trips (France and Brazil)

A wide range of field trips and field projects in both France and Brazil will expand your real-world knowledge in an international context. This equips you to analyse issues facing the sector and apply your skills to solve problems.

Field trips are a component of each period, and field projects are integrated into Periods 2 and 3.

Internship (Worldwide)

Period 4 (June to October or December)

During your four- to six-month mandatory internship, you will gain an inside look into the day-to-day operations and marketing of an enterprise in the food or agricultural sector anywhere in the world. Audencia students complete the internship before graduation for 30 ECTS. Internships in France are paid; this will vary from country to country, depending on local laws.

The internship highlights your ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, helping you build your network and strengthen future career possibilities.

Final report

Period 4 (June to November)

In addition to the internship, you will cap your programme with a final report (30 ECTS) examining an issue in the agribusiness industry – and proposing a solution.

We encourage you to use your internship as the basis for this report, highlighting your real-world experience and demonstrating your value to prospective employers. You’ll submit the written report in mid-October and give an oral presentation in early November (at Audencia or via Skype).

The rapid technological innovation pace, demographic shifts between urban and rural areas, immigration and access to skilled staff, climate change, water issues, and food security are among the topics studied in the International Food and Agribusiness MBA. Key areas include food processing and manufacturing, procurement, research and development, policy or government service, agricultural and food marketing, and supply chain management.

The MBA in International Food and Agribusiness is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. Upon successful completion of the degree, you will be awarded CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership and will therefore become a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI). You can then apply to the CMI for full Chartered Manager status if you wish.

The College of Agriculture and Food Sciences offers a MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE (thesis and non—thesis options) in Agricultural Sciences with concentrations in Agribusiness, Animal Science, Entomology, Food Science, Plant Science, Soil and Water Sciences, and International Programs. A minimum of thirty six (36) semester hours beyond the bachelor’s degree is required for the Master of Science degree. The degree takes approximately two calendar years for its completion. The curriculum of the program is structured so that students may expand their knowledge in selected areas of agricultural sciences instead of specializing in any one field. However, the research performed by these students is specific in nature and is supervised by faculty members in their areas of expertise. Students are exposed to a full range of agricultural research problems and their management through on-campus instruction and hands-on experiential learning with the programs’ faculty and off campus internships at other universities or industry partners. To ensure the success of the students in completing the degree program, each student is mentored by a four-member Thesis Supervisory Committee. The committee members guide the student’s choice of core courses, electives and internships; test their problem-solving skills on a regular basis and through final oral examination. The Master of Management Studies (MMS) degree will bring you closer to the frontiers of knowledge in your specialist field, and prepare you for leadership roles that require a high level of critical thinking and information analysis.

This degree normally includes both taught and research papers, but can also be taken as a full research degree.

Study part-time or full-time for 1-2 years (120 or 180 points), starting in either February (A Semester) or July (B Semester). Normally all papers are taken within a single specialist subject or interdisciplinary area.

MMS in Finance - Professional (Currently not available, a revised version will be offered in September 2018)

This one-year taught masters specialist programme is not currently available for new enrolments. However, a revised version will be offered, starting in September 2018. Further details will be announced soon.

This one-year programme (180 points) is aimed at those seeking industry-relevant skills and knowledge needed to build a professional career in the financial industry. It has a strong practical focus and is ideal for students who have never majored in Finance before.

The 11 required papers will develop your foundational knowledge of investments and financial markets, before introducing you to more advanced topics, such as derivative securities and advanced financial modelling. New varieties have to meet current demands regarding yield, disease resistance, quality characteristics, salt or drought tolerance and suitability for sustainable plant production systems. Plant Breeding involves a variety of aspects, ranging from the molecular level to the population level and requires knowledge on the physiology, ecology and genetics of cultivated plants.

The use of various molecular techniques contributes enormously to the rapid identification of genes for natural resistance and is essential for accelerating the selection process by marker-assisted breeding.

Study programme

This online master's specialisation is designed as a part-time study. The approximate workload is 20 hours per week and gives the student the flexibility to combine work and study. The programme is therefore also suitable for employees who want to continue their education in the sense of life-long-learning.

About this degree

The programme provides in-depth knowledge of the EU’s institutions, politics and policies. It covers legislative, executive, and judicial politics; introduces EU law-making and lobbying; and addresses key contemporary questions, such as Europe’s global role, democratic legitimacy, the euro crisis and the EU’s impact on member states. Teaching and learning

Teaching on the EU is interdisciplinary and pools the department's world-class expertise in European politics, public policy and international relations. The MSc is delivered through weekly lectures and seminars by experts, who all carry out innovative research in the field.
