This two-part programme is designed to develop professional and academic excellence in the field of contemporary curatorial practice. It's aimed at curators and those with related academic and practical experience who wish to achieve professional excellence in their practice, to innovate in the expanding field of curatorial practice.

MFA Curating at Goldsmiths focuses in-depth on aesthetic, social, political and philosophical questions that are brought to bear in any place or at any event in which contemporary art is situated.

The programme is designed to provide a practice-led research context for students at any stage of their professional practice.

It also enables you to experiment and innovate in the expanded field of curatorial pedagogy, to collaborate on an interdisciplinary basis and extend your and other students' knowledge through this process.

Goldsmiths' MFA Curating programme is recognised worldwide for producing highly qualified curators and other arts professionals.

The Tate Modern annually offers two hands-on internships to Goldsmiths MFA Curating students, who are given the opportunity to work directly on an exhibition matched to the students' interests. Modules & Structure

In Year One, you're introduced to a series of curatorial concepts and practices through group analysis and guided research. There are also group seminars that look into significant ideas in philosophy and cultural theory to help you think broadly about your own practice

In Year Two, intensive workshops look in depth at a set of artistic and cultural themes chosen by the students. In Year Two you further develop independent curatorial research and practice, working either on your own ideas or with a London-based gallery or institution. The summer term of Year One acts as a transition to Year Two.

Government Art Collection

Each year, part 1 Goldsmiths curating students are invited to pitch an exhibition proposal to the Government Art Collection, using works from this important national collection as the basis for a contemporary art exhibition. The successful projects are realised during the final year.

Offered in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), this new programme offers an unparalleled opportunity to study the social, political, cultural and economic development of the modern city from historical perspectives and through comparative experience of two of the great urban laboratories of the Western world, Paris and London. You can choose a full year in Paris or the split-site option in Paris and London.

In this interdisciplinary programme, taught in English, you will explore the development of urban topography and planning through site visits and analysis, using a primarily bifocal approach to the growth of city living and management, and how that has shaped the fabric of the world.

With faculty expertise drawn from ULIP and three Schools in QMUL’s Faculty of the Humanities and Social Science, as well as its split-site delivery, the programme enables students to develop both their empirical understanding of and their methodological approaches to what distinguishes and what connects these two cities, while expanding these comparative insights towards a broader engagement with urban history and culture, and the challenges cities face today.

Programme structure:

The programme consists of four modules plus a dissertation and an assessed research methodology component. Two core modules are delivered in the autumn term in Paris at ULIP, and two optional modules taken from a range offered in Paris at ULIP and in London at Queen Mary University of London in the second term. You can choose, therefore, between a split-site programme in Paris and London or a full year in Paris.

The programme is delivered via small-group seminars where you will be encouraged to discuss key issues and participate through seminar presentations. The programme will also be supported by a hands-on approach, including site visits and workshops. Sessions are led by members of faculty from ULIP, and the Schools of History, Geography and English and Drama from QMUL in weekly seminars led by staff members with original research qualifications and interests in the area.

Entry requirements:

Students should have an upper second-class honours degree in a relevant Humanities-related subject. A recognised equivalent from an accredited overseas institution is also accepted.

If English is not your first language, satisfactory evidence of your English language proficiency must be provided. IELTS 7.0 (minimum writing 6.5) is the minimum level for entry to the course.

The degree is taught entirely in English and there is no French language requirement.

What you will study

To qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant students are required to complete:
• 15 examinations
• 450 days of technical work experience, which you gain by obtaining a training contract with an appropriate employer
• Professional development (delivered through ICAEW or your employer)

The ACA Qualification comprises three examination levels: Certificate, Professional and Advanced. We offer a flexible portfolio of ACA courses that appeal to large or small training organisations.Our average student pass rate on our ACA course since its inception in 2012 has been 83%.

Weekly day release tuition (with block revision):
• Available at City Campus, Newport for all Levels (Certificate, Professional, Advanced)
• Papers taught for one day per week, with a block revision period at the end
• Typical tuition period lengths:
• Certificate Level papers – 10 weeks plus revision block
• Professional Level papers – 11-14 weeks plus revision block

• Advantages: Knowledge built up and exam question practice undertaken week on week. Students build skills gradually and sustainably, and are not absent from their work place for long periods of time (which is particularly important for smaller accounting practices)

Certificate level:
Each assessment is 1.5 hours long and each exam will be e-assessed.

Professional level:
Modules will be assessed by paper based exams. Each will be 2.5 hours long, with the exception of the Financial Accounting and Reporting paper which will be assessed by a three hour exam.

Advanced level:
Consists of two technical integration papers and a case study:

• Technical integration papers will be 3.5 hours long
• Case Study will be four hours long

Students will attend workshops which will contain lecture, tutorial and question practice elements.

ACA students enjoy early responsibility and excellent career progression. Many ACA students double their salary during training. Salaries for newly qualified ICAEW Chartered Accountants are on a par with careers in law and banking and many become partners or financial directors early in their careers, leading to a greater variety of opportunities.

About the School of History

The School of History at the University of Kent offers a great environment in which to research and study. Situated in a beautiful cathedral city with its own dynamic history, the University is within easy reach of the main London archives and is convenient for travelling to mainland Europe.

The School of History is a lively, research-led department where postgraduate students are given the opportunity to work alongside academics recognised as experts in their respective fields. Postgraduate resources
The resources for historical research at Kent are led by the University’s Templeman Library: a designated European Documentation Centre which holds specialised collections on slavery and antislavery, and on medical science. The Library has a substantial collection of secondary materials to back-up an excellent collection of primary sources including the British Cartoon Archive, newspapers, a large audio-visual library, and a complete set of British Second World War Ministry of Information propaganda pamphlets.

The School has a dedicated Centre for the Study of Propaganda and War, which has a distinctive archive of written, audio and visual propaganda materials, particularly in film, video and DVD. Locally, you have access to: the Canterbury Cathedral Library and Archive (a major collection for the study of medieval and early modern religious and social history); the Centre for Kentish Studies at Maidstone; and the National Maritime Collection at Greenwich. The MRes programme, available full-time and part-time, will give you advanced theoretical and practical training in postgraduate level research.

You’ll conduct a substantial research project, which will give you valuable experience whether you’re preparing for a career or looking for continuous professional development.

The taught programme comprises one ‘core’ (SOCR501 Introduction to Research) and one ‘optional’ module (either SOCR507 Advanced Qualitative Methods, SOCR508 Advanced Quantitative Methods) to a total of 60 credits.

The research dissertation no shorter than 25,000-30,000 words provides the remaining 150 credits (i.e. 83%) of the programme, emphasising the focus on research.

You can expect regular (at least fortnightly) supervision so this is an excellent research training opportunity, with a respected Masters qualification at the end.

The PGCE: Secondary French with Italian is a partnership programme and falls within "Secondary Modern Languages". The majority of your time will be spent in schools observing teaching and learning, considering how the theory of education and the practice link together and, of course, working with children in classroom settings.

You will be studying in a diverse community of trainees from a range of different subjects as well as studying alongside fellow Modern Languages trainees.


Many themes such as equal opportunities, bilingualism, meeting the needs for children with special educational needs etc. underpin the taught programme.

The subject studies elements of the programme focus on teaching Modern Foreign Languages as a curriculum subject. These sessions aim to:

Course outline

This is a non NMC accredited course that provides a breadth and depth of theoretical knowledge necessary for effective occupational health practice. You do not have to be working in occupational health to take this programme.

You'll choose from a range of contemporary modules covering issues such as the legal and ethical aspects of occupational health, health surveillance and stress management. These modules have been explicitly designed to meet the needs of students in a wide range of practice settings.

Graduate destinations

This degree can lead to a wide range of careers, including work in occupational health, as a screening nurse or as a Health and Safety Practitioner. You may also continue your studying by taking one of our postgraduate courses in Occupational Health Management or our PgD Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Occupational Health).

Admission details

Those who do not meet this criteria should apply for the BSc (Hons) Practice Development: Occupational Health programme.

International applicants will need to demonstrate evidence of study at a level equivalent to the general entry requirements. These will be in accordance with NARIC Guidelines (The British Council 2007 and revised annually) and International Qualifications for entry to Higher Education (UCAS, 2007 and revised annually) as well as satisfying the English Language requirements for admission which include any of the following:
-The British Council International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an average score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

The most salient characteristic of the program is its exceptionally strong interdisciplinarity. We conceive of language as by equal measures a system of symbols which people know and use. Though students and faculty may incline one way or the other, Linguistics at Western is not “formal linguistics”, nor “applied linguistics”, nor even a pairing of each. It is, instead, a rich melding of frameworks and methods, built around close ties with sister disciplines: anthropology, computer science, communication disorders, language teaching, philosophy, and psychology.

We will not consider applicants whose primary research interests are in the following areas: Language Teaching (ESL), Translation, Teaching Methodology, and Applied Linguistics that is not connected to linguistic theory.

The MA in Art History and Curating offers a theoretical and critical approach to the study of art history and curatorial practice. Focusing mainly on the modern period (19th and 20th centuries), the programme will address key developments in art and art history up to the present day. For students who do not wish to undertake a full MA, a Postgraduate Certificate is also available.

The programme would appeal to graduates who have studied Fine Art, Art History or any other Arts and Humanities discipline, or those from non arts backgrounds wishing to pursue a new subject. It will also appeal to those already working in the museums or galleries sector wishing to undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD). There are opportunities to participate in overseas study tours and in recent years the department has visited Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bilbao, Milan, Paris, Florence, Venice and New York. London visits and regional exhibition visits may also take place, depending on the exhibition programme for the year. Study Details / Module Information

At the outset you will be introduced to the Art History and Curating programme through a series of lectures, seminars and tutorials, delivered by specialist academic staff. Your tutors will provide you with a firm foundation and knowledge of visual cultures and applied arts primarily in Europe and the U.S. enabling you to understand your own learning and study needs within the context of the subject. A contextual journal is introduced that will underpin your academic studies facilitating a personal and individual perspective.

You will continue to develop your theoretical skills through continuous tutorial consultation and supervision enabling you to devise your own work programme from the range of courses on offer. Teaching is by lectures, seminars, tutorials and gallery visits to enable the first hand study of artworks; their context and curation. We expect a critical approach towards writing with an awareness of contemporary art practice and the historical socio-political and cultural forces that inform it. Your programme of study will be agreed with your subject tutors, and will make full use of the museums and galleries on Merseyside and beyond.
