If you’re training to become an ophthalmologist, you can apply for the Sir William Lister and Dorey Bequest Travel Awards to help support travel for training and research purposes. Originally two different awards, the Sir William Lister and Dorey Bequest Awards have been amalgamated into one fund. This means you’ll be awarded one of the two awards.
You must be a UK citizen, training to be an ophthalmologist and also a member or fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists to be eligible.
The amount awarded is generally £300 - £600 up to a maximum of £1,000.

To apply, you must complete an electronic version of an application form and CV and send them via email to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. In the application form, you’ll be asked for details about your travel, a cost breakdown of your proposed travel expenses and the purpose of your visit. You’ll also need a statement of support from your current trainer or head of department.
