Philharmonia Instrumental Fellowship Programmes

The Philharmonia is a world-class symphony orchestra for the 21st century, led by Principal Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali. Based in London at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, resident in cities and at festivals across England, and streaming online, the Philharmonia creates thrilling performances for a global audience.

The Instrumental Fellowship Programme is designed to support young orchestral musicians looking to start a career. The Fellowship offers an extensive range of training opportunities for young musicians who want to become professional orchestral musicians. It’s a one or two-year scheme depending on your instrument type.

Scholarship details

The Fellowship Programme offers an extensive range of training opportunities, including:

  • Coaching and mentoring from a member of the Orchestra
  • Recital opportunities in professional arts venues across the UK
  • CPD workshops
  • Paid Learning & Engagement project work
  • Behind the scenes access to observe the Orchestra in rehearsals
  • Potential paid patches with the Orchestra

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be over the age of 18
  • Applicants must not be in their first year of undergraduate study
  • The programme is intended for fourth year undergraduates and postgraduates
  • If you’re not a British citizen, you will need to demonstrate you have the right to remain in the UK through Fellowship

Applications

  • Fill out the application form once open for the year
  • Complete an equality and diversity monitoring form
