What to expect on the day
A Postgrad LIVE Study fair is made up of two parts: an exhibition hall where you can talk to universities and a talks programme which runs in parallel at the same venue. You can go between the two as much as you want.
Location and timings
Our Postgrad LIVE Liverpool study fair is on Wednesday, 15 February and will be held at the Guild of Students in University of Liverpool. The fair runs from 12pm to 3pm.

How much does a Masters cost, and how do students afford one? This session will walk you through the process of actually paying for a postgraduate degree, including options such as UK postgraduate student loans, university scholarships and other awards.

This masterclass will demystify the concept of a PhD research proposal, and help you better understand exactly what a proposal should and shouldn’t be. It’ll give you hints and tips for writing the proposal, and you’ll leave feeling more confident that you’ll write a proposal that will stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Check-in for the Masterclasses at the event starts from 10:45am, and we ask that you are checked in by 11:00am, otherwise your place may be reallocated.
The Masterclasses are the only talks you need to pre-book your seat at. You can book it once you’ve registered for the fair. Although the fair is free of charge, we do ask for a refundable £5 deposit for your space in the Masterclass due to its popularity and limited seating. We will refund your £5 automatically within five working days of your attendance at the event, directly to the card you used to pay the deposit.

12:15pm - 13:00pm - Protecting your mental health - A Practical Guide to supporting your well-being whilst studying for a Masters or PhD. We will look at the concept of PGR Wellbeing and factors that impact on Post graduate students.

13:00pm - 13:45pm - “Infinite ceilings, sunken floors”: Maximising the value of postgraduate study in the new world of work. - In the current fast-paced business environment, an increasing number of people are investing their time and money in postgraduate education. This session will discuss the benefits of postgraduate study and its potential impact on your future career.

1:45pm - 2:30pm - Funding your PhD - This talk will cover the funding options available for PhD study, including Research Council studentships, independent charities and trusts, university scholarships and the UK doctoral student loans.

2:30pm - 3:15pm - What’s it really like to be a postgraduate student? - Ask your burning questions to our panel of current postgraduate students who are based at different institutions and are at different points in their postgraduate journey. They will answer your questions on applications, interviews, funding, and much more.

The fair will officially open at 12pm. That is when you’ll be able to walk around the exhibition hall and chat to universities.
If you’re interested in attending the PhD Research Proposal Masterclass, it starts at 11:15am before the fair is officially open. You can check in at the registration desk for the Masterclass from 10:45am but you won’t be able to get into the exhibition hall until 12pm.
You can book your Masterclass place once you’ve registered for the fair. Spaces are limited, so secure your seat as soon as possible!
