Masters teacher of the year

Our Masters teacher of the year award aims to celebrate the individual who has created the most positive and encouraging learning environment, who gives their students high-quality constructive feedback, who is approachable, passionate about their subject, and always put the student first.

The teachers who mentor and support their students through job applications and interviews, who inspire students to think beyond the programme, encourage professional development, and ultimately give their students an excellent foundation for their future careers.

PhD supervisor of the year

Our PhD supervisor of the year award is designed to reward the PhD supervisors who go out of their way to give their PhD students the best possible PhD experience. We’re looking for a supervisor who is inspirational, motivational, supportive, and encourages their PhD students. We’re after someone totally dedicated, approachable, and who has real expertise and passion for their subject.

We’re talking about the hero PhD supervisors who go above and beyond to help their students. The ones who inspire their students to ask the big research questions, guide them with writing research papers, and introduce them to the most novel and current research techniques.

Masters student of the year

Our Masters student of the year award will honour the individual Masters student who has demonstrated exceptional competence and curiosity in their studies. A student who is highly motivated, an independent learner, an excellent communicator, and has a real passion for their subject.

Beyond their studies, this award also recognises a student’s work within the postgraduate community, and positive influence on their peers.

PhD student of the year

Our PhD student of the year award will recognise the individual PhD student who has become an excellent and inquisitive researcher. Beyond this, the award recognises a student who is an integral part of their research group, someone who encourages and supports more junior members of the team, and works alongside the research community more widely.

Maybe you know a PhD student whose hard work has led them to presenting their work at international conferences, or someone whose persistence and motivation is second to none (VERY important when research doesn’t go to plan). Or, maybe you want to honour a PhD student who has made a big impact on their peers; helping them write papers, delivering lecturers or teaching undergraduates.
