Masters Teacher of the Year

This award celebrates an individual who creates an exceptionally positive and encouraging learning environment, gives their students high-quality constructive feedback, is passionate about their subject, and always puts students first. Don’t forget to give examples of their impact!

PhD Supervisor of the Year

This award recognises a PhD supervisor who goes out of their way to give their students an outstanding experience. They inspire their students to ask the big research questions, guide them with writing research papers and introduce them to novel and current research techniques.

Outstanding Contribution to Support & Wellbeing

This award recognises projects that have championed their postgraduate community through support, wellbeing, inclusivity and widening participation initiatives. It could be a postgraduate taster scheme for current undergraduate students where they experience what Masters study is like, or raising awareness of the shortage of postgraduate housing with local councils, or even a campaign that resulted in policy changes so postgraduate teaching staff have the same employment rights as academics. As long as the project has postgraduate support, wellbeing, inclusivity or widening participation at its core, we want to know about it.

Masters Student of the Year

Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond in their Masters? Who is not just highly motivated and passionate about their subject, but has also had a positive influence within their postgraduate community? This award recognises those who have really made a difference in the academic sphere and beyond. Whether they’re a pioneer in their subject area or they’ve done something exceptional in their extra-curricular activities, we want to hear about it.

PhD Student of the Year

Do you know someone who you think is one to watch in their field? Perhaps they’ve been integral to their research group or presented at international conferences or their persistence and motivation for their topic is unrivalled? This award recognises an individual PhD student who is an excellent and inquisitive researcher and has made a big impact on their peers and research community.

What do the winners win?

Besides the obvious bragging rights, our student winners are awarded a cash prize of £500, an international platform to showcase their commitment to postgraduate study, and recognition from academic communities.
