MSc Renewable Energy in Central and Eastern Europe |
| Program Objectives: With the MSc Program the participants acquire knowledge and competence for - planning with regard to the use of renewable energy, - economically and technically expediently operating plants for the use of renewable energy, - assessing technical and economical opportunities to use renewable energy. Three aspects have been given special consideration: - Technical Innovations Participants acquire a basic technical knowledge in the area of alternative energy production. The fast-changing nature and development of this sector are specifically considered. Focal points are solar energy, wind power, biomass, biogas, small hydropower stations, photovoltaics, bio fuel, and geothermal technology as well as issues, such as, energy saving and energy efficiency. - Management of Sustainable Energy Systems Conveys skills, such as project development, project financing, project operation, and knowledge on business management. Furthermore, participants obtain a detailed market overview on Central and Eastern Europe. - EU-Extension and Legal Basics Participants obtain knowledge on the frameworks of European laws and directives as well as on national legal provisions and goals in Central and Eastern Europe. Target Group: Individuals within companies, organisations, and authorities who are engaged in planning, operating or evaluation of renewable energy projects or who are involved in financing, promotion, legal licensing of facilities for the use of renewable energy or environmental issues. Emphases/Curriculum: During the first academic year basic knowledge is taught in order to achieve a uniform level of knowledge on renewable energy. A systematic integration of theory, practice and case studies ensures that the acquired knowledge can be directly put into practice. - Introduction on Renewable Energy - Biomass, Biogas & Biofuels - Solar Energy – Solar Heating & Phototvoltaics - Geothermal Energy, Wind Power & Small Hydro Power - Efficient Energy Use & Thermal Building Optimisation - Economic Basics - General Legal & Economical Frameworks - Management & Soft Skills - Perspectives on Renewable Energy - Master Thesis The part-time program is presented in modules and takes four semesters. The MSc Program is held on several locations in different countries: Vienna, Bruck/Leitha (Austria), Bratislava (Slovakia) and Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary). Admission/Entrance requirements Admitted individuals must either hold an academic degree or other qualification which can be regarded as an equivalent thereof, i.e. activities similar to those of a university graduate or relevant professional experience. The total Tuition Fee for the MSc Program is EUR 17,500 (excluding travel expenses and cost of room and board). Computer equipment, lodging during the modules in Vienna, Bruck/Leitha, Bratislava and Mosonmagyaróvár (if necessary), flight, lodging and other costs for the field studies are at the expense of the participant.
