The MPhil in Management provides an academically rigorous and professionally relevant programme for graduates with less than a year of work experience. Applicants must possess a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent (GPA 3.7 or higher) in a subject other than business or management. If you meet these requirements and have the ambition to reach the upper echelons of the business world, the MPhil in Management is your route to the top. The core of the MPhil in Management is grounded in the latest advances in business and management theory and covers finance and accounting, business economics, strategy, marketing, operations management, information systems, and organisational analysis. This is complemented by a range of electives aligned to potential careers in management. The MPhil in Management programme consists of: Six core courses cover the full breadth of business and management. Core courses are taught throughout the programme. They provide a solid grounding in the key areas of management: Michaelmas Term: Quantitative Techniques for Management; Information Systems; Finance & Accounting Lent Term: Business Economics; Strategic Management Easter Term: Organisational Analysis As well as core courses students must choose three electives during the year, with no more than two in any one term. Electives cover a wide range of topics, designed to allow students to tailor the course to their own needs. The specialist nature of electives will enable you to present prospective employers with a portfolio of both general management and specialised knowledge, to position yourself for the career to which you aspire: Michaelmas Term: Globalisation at the Crossroads, Environment & Sustainability, Introduction to Technology Policy, Political Economy of Technology Policy, Strategic Valuation Lent Term: Financial Markets, Risk & Regulation Financial Reporting & Capital Markets, Marketing Easter Term Complexity & Negotiation, Management Consulting Project, Operations Management.
