Describe your experience of postgraduate study at Cranfield
The Masters was very interesting for the wide range of backgrounds and nationalities of the fellow students. We learnt a lot from each other as much in the studies as in personal development and cultural perspective. It was a very enjoyable experience. The modules were very diverse, with introductions to many different subjects, with first individual assessments and group projects at the end of the year. These are quite interesting and instructive to learn working in a team, which will be the case for most of us in the future. The final Master’s thesis, of 3-4 months, is finally the last step of the postgraduate study, and to me the most important in the experience since it is what might define our personal profile when looking for a job.

What skills are you acquiring from the study?
I acquired a scientific approach of the subjects and of the research that I did not gain in my engineer formation. The library resources and the software furnished by the university are very useful and complete to be able to do serious works.

Also, because I found and created my Master’s thesis subject along with my supervisor, I learnt the process of searching a home institution, looking at their current projects and what would be of interest to them, contacting them and writing a brief research proposal; I think this skill is very important in our future life and I am really glad to have learnt that from my supervisor.

Would you recommend the course? Why?
I would recommend this course as it enlarges skills and knowledge about a wide range of different subjects introduced along the year. It is a good opening course to achieve its studies and get experience in subjects most likely to be confronted to in our professional life (project management, environment economics, team work...). The individual thesis project at the end of the course allows a specialisation by personalising studies and improving skills in a particular topic chosen.

Do you have any advice for students considering postgraduate study?
I would recommend the students to do postgraduate studies to improve their skills, but also to make contacts and build a network (other students, teachers and industries during the Master’s thesis and other conferences) for future work research. I would say that postgraduate studies tend more to project the people in professional life and are more oriented toward our future work research.

Describe your experience of postgraduate study at Cranfield
I can definitely say that I met experienced and competent academics during my life at Cranfield. The study environment and library resources were excellent. I have also made fantastic friends from various countries that I believe I can rely on and perhaps can work with in the future as needed.

What skills are you acquiring from the study?
Professionalism, competency and working in the field without hesitation.

Were there any parts of the course that you found particularly enjoyable/useful?
The group project was excellent . It was undertaken professionally as a consultancy provided to a well established company. Therefore, it was really useful and I consider it provided me sort of international experience.

What was your individual project about?
Evaluation of best available technologies and best practical environmental options for waste management in the Maldives. The project was sponsored by the Government of the Maldives

Would you recommend the course? Why?
Yes, because the course provides all the necessary knowledge that a person will need for his/her further carrier development

Do you have any advice for students considering postgraduate study?
For anyone who is considering postgraduate study definitely without any further question it’s Cranfield University. This is because of several aspects, including its excellent reputation, great study environment and its experienced academics.

What are your plans for the future?
Back to work (EPA Maldives) with confidence, which I have been even before I started the course at Cranfield, as well as exploring to start up a consultancy business.

What do you most like about Cranfield?
Liked all about Cranfield, especially the invaluable assistance provided by the staff since my first day at Cranfield.

I did my MSc in Thermal Power and it was very industry focused in terms of its theoretical application to everyday challenges, especially within industry. In doing my MSc it was natural progression that I was going to come back to do my doctorate. I founded my own company EGB Engineering and am the Exec Director.

I wouldn't have been able to have the career that I've had without the course. Its door-opening - having the course and having the Cranfield network leads you to have the opportunity to take on new jobs.

Cranfield offers an inspiring, challenging and rewarding academic environment. I find staff very competent, motivating and flexible. Having the possibility to share knowledge as industry professionals among each other is truly valuable. I can highly recommend the course!

I think space is the future – this is my chance to be right at the forefront of that. My thesis was the interaction between engineering and medicine in space. For me the course was perfect. I was looking for something fairly specific and I looked around, but I didn't apply to anywhere else.

I feel that the MSc in Advanced Motorsport Engineering at Cranfield was an incredible experience I would not have been able to have anywhere else. I completed my thesis project with Mercedes AMG F1 which has further progressed into a full time job as a Test and Development Engineer.

This course has such a strong reputation in the aviation industry and is recognised and well known by many experts. During my master's we had many industry experts and CEOs visiting and giving lectures

All the things I learned on the course were very useful for my career. The pace of assignments and workload was high but it really helped me to face these issues in the real world. The assignments were challenging but they really make they make you think which really helps you to see the bigger picture.

Cranfield gives good teachers, interesting lectures, updated group projects with the best technology available currently, and most importantly the perfect preparation and connection with industry that helps start your professional career.

The reason why I wanted to come to Cranfield is because it's one of the best ranked schools. I really like coding and using computational tools to solve engineering problems. I think the course is really relevant and useful for today's digital era.

I applied for this course as I wanted to be more refined in the computer software field. Beyond the course, I can apply what I have learned in the modules, so that I can achieve a sense of accomplishment in my study. In addition, there are many choices in the topic of the thesis which combines interest and professionalism.

The course is well structured, intense and enjoyable. Cranfield University academics are supported by industry experts and this mix of teaching styles works for me. In the day job it would take many years to gain the same depth and breadth of topic understanding that we will enjoy after our two years of study.

Cranfield University has definitely fulfilled my expectations with regards to studying abroad. Considering the nature of my field of knowledge in structures and impact damage, the Cranfield Impact Centre was the most fascinating and impressive one for me, embodying an FIA approved test house for F1 crash tests.

My previous experience and my passion for robots enabled me to hunt for a university that provides a master’s degree which is research-intensive and industry-orientated in the field of robotics. I found Cranfield University, which is renowned for its intensive research. I was very excited to begin my journey to study an MSc in Robotics at Cranfield.
