Corporate Strategy and Governance Masters (MSc)

Course Description

This unique programme offers you the chance to study the two topics of strategy and governance. The programme is concerned with how organisations develop, grow and restructure.

Corporate governance is also closely related to strategy, concerning who controls a company, the relationship between owners and managers, who takes responsibility for decisions, and executive remuneration levels.

In almost every country with an active stock market there is increasing concern over corporate governance and pressure for reform.

This course is particularly appropriate for anyone seeking a career in areas such as venture capital, management consultancy, investment banking, and financial services management.

MSc in Corporate Strategy and Governance Alumnus, David Smith shares his experience:

"The Nottingham MSc programme stood out among other universities. It appealed to me because it combined renowned standards of teaching quality with an internationally acknowledged research standing.

The course content is not only theoretically rigorous, but also relevant, which is essential.

The skills I gained from the MSc have prepared me for the PhD programme, made possible by the scholarship I received from the University."

779.jpg I selected Nottingham for my MSc as I found it to be the only Business School to combine the fields of Corporate Strategy and Governance. The course provides an education in management theory and contemporary issues which is both broad and rigorous. The diverse selection of optional modules including finance, technology or languages, offers incredible flexibility.

A significant part of the course is dedicated to independent research which grants the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in an area that particularly interested me. I’m undertaking quantitative analysis of Private Equity firms with the assistance of Nottingham’s world-class Centre for Management Buy-Out Research (CMBOR).

The variety of assessments on the course, including group projects, presentations and business reports, equipped me with the skills sought after by top employers. Choosing to study my MSc at Nottingham has been instrumental in securing a position with KPMG Advisory in London.
