MSc Endocrinology (Online delivery)

Course Description

The MSc in Endocrinology from the University of South Wales is designed to be very practical and clinically focused.

This degree will develop the skills to access information independently and use it to critically assess, evaluate and disseminate evidence that is related to endocrine care. We aim to help you develop creative, problem-solving approaches to complex clinical situations, and become an important advocate in the delivery of care to people with endocrinology-related problems.

It is envisaged that most students will be in endocrine-related posts or aspire to such positions. As such, this course has direct relevance to the demands of working roles, so it will assist in your career development and specialisation.

* Research Methodologies and Critical Appraisal
* Professional Project (10,500 words)

*Learning and Teaching Methods*

At the start of the course, you are encouraged to attend an optional one day residential programme at the University's Glyntaff campus providing an overview of the course and the study skills required.

Candidates are split into groups of 10-15 students, each group is supervised by a lecturer, who will also facilitate, monitor and assess each student throughout the module.

The Professional project involves writing up to 10,500 words on a practice issue. You will be assigned a supervisor to guide you.

*Assessment methods*

You will be assessed across the following components for the first module:

* Clinical case scenarios, with case-based discussion
* Individual learning portfolio
* Group/individual activity
* Case-based examination

To produce the professional project, students continue to use the online course however much of the work is self directed. Students are expected in the first 8 weeks to interact with their tutor on a weekly basis. Once the proposal has been approved, the professional project is completed through online guidance and supervision offered by the tutor.
