About the course

The accredited Master of Science program in Computer Science is a two-year program that has been designed for international and German graduate students. The curriculum is very flexible. Students can compile their individual study plans based on their background and interests. It is also a very practical program. In addition to lectures and tutorials, students will complete two seminars, one or two projects and the master thesis.

In the beginning students will choose one or two key courses. Key courses are courses which introduce the students to the research areas represented at the Department of Computer Science. The following key courses are offered:

Scholarships

Since 2009, the Faculty of Engineering through sponsorship from enterprises in Baden, awards every year ten scholarships of 2400 Euro each to Master students. These scholarships are funded by the „Faculty of Engineering Foundation“ and managed by the „Association of Friends of the University of Freiburg“.

The scholarships are granted based on performance and shall support students who have already shown an excellent academic potential during their undergraduate studies.

Eligibility

Applicants for the scholarship in 2010 should commence a Master’s program in Computer Science, Embedded Systems Engineering, Microsystems Engineering or Sustainable Systems Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering (University of Freiburg) and have completed their undergraduate studies with a CGPA of 1,5 (German grading system*).

The recipients of the scholarships will be chosen by a selection committee of the Faculty of Engineering.

Application Procedure

Applications should include:

- Motivation letter for the scholarship (approx. 1 page, not identical to the motivation letter for the Master application)

- Recommendation letter from a university professor (approx. ½ page, free text)

- Certified copy of your bachelor’s transcript of marks
