Entry Requirements:
A good Honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent, in a discipline such as environmental health, biological and chemical sciences, medicine or environmental science. However, a blend of qualifications, motivation and relevant experience may be acceptable. Where applicable, students must achieve a minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5 or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 92. Our Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes courses offer pre-sessional training in English.

Globally, environmental issues remain at the top of the political agenda. The social and economic implications of climate change and natural resource depletion are hot topics of discussion wherever people meet.

This MSc is designed to equip you with the scientific expertise to assess risk and influence decision/policy making, Cranfield’s Health and the Environment MSc promotes the development of holistic integrated strategies to tackle emerging environment and health issues.

This course is suitable for both recent graduates and scientists who are looking to gain an advanced understanding of how human activities which are detrimental to the environment specifically affect human health. It will prepare you for a career in the buoyant environment and health sector or, alternatively, provide a route into higher-level research.

The Health and the Environment MSc programme is developed with input from the Institute of Environmental Health (IEH) and Cranfield University uses its close links with industry to ensure the relevance of the course content which comprises of a formal taught ten-module course and a four-month research project and thesis. Typical projects include examining air pollution, environmentally-associated cancers and newly emerging infectious chemical and biological agents such as SARS and avian flu.

Interactive teaching takes place in small groups and is supported by academic expertise from the Institute of Environment and Health (IEH), other scientists and researchers based at Cranfield University and by specialists drawn from industry, government institutions and other higher education establishments.

The course comprises ten taught compulsory modules an integrated component and a research project.
