About the course

Our Mental Health Studies MSc course will equip you with the relevant knowledge in the field of mental health and provide you with the opportunity to examine one area further through both theoretical and empirical research.

While our Mental Health Studies course, which was established in 1992, offers mental health professionals a range of opportunities for continuing professional development, an equally high number of our students have not yet embarked on professional training. Some come with a relevant first degree, usually in psychology, and already have work experience in the mental health field.

Student Profile

Fiona Scott

I learnt a great deal from my own module choices, as well as from having the opportunity to undertake a research project within the area of neuroimaging. This project taught me many new research skills and has given me the opportunity to publish my work. The MSc staff were helpful in offering students the opportunity to gain voluntary work experience at the National Psychosis Unit during our studies.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone wishing to further their knowledge of mental health and develop skills in innovative research. Whilst undertaking the MSc I was accepted onto the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and I feel that the course was influential in this result, and will no doubt prove useful to me as I progress within my career.
