The UK is home to the most successful national motorsport industry in the world. The MSc in Motorsport Engineering offered by Oxford Brookes provides the opportunity for you to specialise in areas such as engine technology, chassis performance, racing engineering, reliability and risk management, materials, simulation and data analysis. There are options in advanced materials like carbon fibre and advanced joining techniques.

The course provides intensive exposure to integrated design, simulation, modelling, analysis, motorsport components and racing cars. The analysis elements in the modules include structural optimisation, dynamics, internal combustion, engine thermo-fluid dynamics, vehicle performance, tuning and monitoring. Staff teaching on this course have F1 experience and design skills.

Teaching is based in our purpose-designed engineering building on the Wheatley Campus.

Course content

The course is structured around three time periods: Semester 1 runs from September to December, Semester 2 from January to May, and the summer period completes the year until the beginning of September.

To qualify for a master's degree you must pass the compulsory modules, one optional module and the dissertation together with research and study methods.
