Normally a 2(i) Honours degree in Law, or another related discipline, or equivalent.The English Language Requirement for all College of Arts and Social Sciences Masters programmes is an IELTS of 6.5 with 6.0 in the writing and reading (or equivalent TOEFL iBT or PTE). Aims:

This provides those students who do not wish to select a specialist LLM to study law at an advanced level.

Syllabus
Students must complete any four courses from within the LLM Programmes (subject to the approval of the LLM Director), a course in research methods and a dissertation.

Assessment
Assessment is based on a combination of written examination at the end of the relevant semester and one or more course essays. In addition, students must complete a course in research methods and a dissertation on a topic within the specialism. The dissertation is planned and written between March and August each year. Guidance on the writing of a dissertation is given.

Teaching:
Teaching is organised on a modular basis. There are two 12-week semesters, the first beginning at the end of September, the second at the end of January. Students can join either in September or January. Examinations are held at the end of each semester, in January and May. The dissertation is submitted on the 1st September each year, regardless of start date. Courses are offered subject to the availability of staff, sufficient enrolment and sabbatical arrangements.
