About the course

Our MA Illustration course encourages you to question the nature of your practice and its context and position relative to the creative industries.

This course will appeal to you if you're open to participating in a broad range of creative strategies, utilising traditional and digital methods.

These include drawing and printmaking, lens and time-based media, with ideas and concepts that might be realised through exhibition, publication or exciting new hybrid forms.

The course encourages you to engage imaginatively with illustration, in relation to both the academic subject and practice of illustration. A selection of our student's work is available to view in our gallery.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will usually have a 2:1 or equivalent undergraduate level qualification in Art, Design, Media or Performance and will be interested in experimentation and innovative practice within a structured framework leading to Masters outcomes.

International applicants must also hold a relevant English Language qualification.

Our international scholarships are awarded to recognise and support creative talent within the global international student community.

Value of Scholarship(s)

£2,000-£5,000

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have been offered a place on a postgraduate course at AUB. You must also be classified as an international student for fee purposes.

Application Procedure

You do not need to complete any additional forms and will be automatically considered for all scholarships and bursaries available once you have completed your application for your course of study. If you are successful, you will be sent information about the scholarship or bursary you have been awarded, which will include instructions on how to accept the offer and what you need to do next.

Please note, that this scholarship cannot be combined with any other AUB financial award or bursary.

£5,000

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have been offered a place on a postgraduate course at AUB. You must also be a Permanent Resident in a member state of the European Union. In addition, you must be classified as an international student for fee purposes.

Application Procedure

You do not need to complete any additional forms and will be automatically considered for all scholarships and bursaries available once you have completed your application for your course of study. If you are successful, you will be sent information about the scholarship or bursary you have been awarded, which will include instructions on how to accept the offer and what you need to do next.

Please note, this scholarship cannot be combined with any other AUB financial award or bursary.

Our BA (Hons) alumni are eligible for a 20% discount on postgraduate fees, and 33% discount for those that achieve a 2:1 or 1st, if they choose to study a postgraduate award at AUB.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the 20% alumni progression discount, you must be a Home student who completed a BA (Hons) degree at Arts University Bournemouth. To be eligible for the 33% alumni discount (academic scholarship), you must be a Home student who graduated their AUB BA (Hons) degree with a 1st or a 2:1 grade.

Please be advised that this discount doesn't apply for applicants to the Master of Architecture (Part 2 ARB/RIBA) course.
