MSc - Sustainable Crop Production: Agronomy for the 21st Century

“The course attracted me because it was the only MSc in the UK which focussed on a sustainable and integrated approach to crop production. Warwick has a reputation as a very good university and with a good background in the agricultural and horticultural sciences. The university was very welcoming, and everyone seemed very friendly.

I would certainly recommend this MSc course for anyone who is interested in agriculture and horticulture. My knowledge of the subject has improved vastly over the course of the year and have also made some great friends during my time at Warwick. It has given me a stepping stone to employment at a higher level which I would not have been able to achieve otherwise.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I worked with the water industry implementing a catchment management plan for farmers using pesticides. This gave me great experience organising a project and improving my communication and presentation skills.

I liked the regular days ‘shadowing’ a professional agronomist which is a large part of the MSc course. This gives students a very clear insight in to the day to day agronomy industry.”

The course provides you with an in depth look at agronomy but also how it links into food security and the demands placed on global food production from a rapidly increasing population. We spent many days out in the field with a highly experienced independent agronomist who shared his thoughts and ideas on both current and future strategies for controlling weeds, pests and diseases.

The university has a whole host of connections with agricultural contacts, this provides you with opportunities to attend industry events and explore jobs that are available. I highly recommend the MSc at Warwick, I found the course both challenging and very rewarding. Networking for me was a very useful way of gaining contacts within the industry particularly when applying for job opportunities.”
