Entry Requirements:
Students require a good honours degree (or equivalent) in a subject related to tourism, hospitality, business or service sector management. It would normally be expected that this degree be awarded at the level of lower second class or above. Other graduates who can demonstrate a commitment to the study of hospitality and tourism management or who have significant industrial background will also be considered for entry.

The growing size and dominance of tourism as a major employer around the world means that companies and organisations are continually seeking individuals with the knowledge and capabilities of managing various aspects of this dynamic and progressive industry. Therefore, the PGDip/ MSc in International Hospitality and Tourism Management has been designed to meet such challenges and provide a curriculum which will enhance the knowledge and skills of its students and ensure that they are able to cope with the variety of possible roles and responsibilities that follow. The programme has been organised to provide a high quality vocational, personal and intellectually challenging education for those wishing to enhance their knowledge, skills and appeal to an the international market. Furthermore, it is intended to cater for those with an appropriate undergraduate qualification who aspire to a career in the area of management and tourism.
Emphasis throughout the programme is therefore placed on developing a range of professional, managerial and transferable skills to be aligned with an extensive knowledge of management disciplines applicable to tourism today.

The programme is a 12 month programme comprising three parts. The first two parts are the taught element and the final part is consists of research and writing the dissertation element. For full-time students the taught element is normally completed over a nine month period starting in October. Part-time students will normally attend on a one day a week basis and complete the taught element in two years. Students who complete the taught element of the programme, in part or in its entirety, may graduate with either a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in International Hospitality and Tourism Management. Students wishing to complete the Master of Science award must complete the research element. The research element comprises a dissertation. Full-time students will normally complete this in the three months that follow the taught element, whilst part-time students complete this during the course of an academic session.
