MA Education, Health Promotion and International Development

Aims
This masters degree will:
• identify key concepts and issues in education, health promotion and international development
• develop the knowledge and skills you need to write project proposals and plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives
• reflect on research, analysis, policy and practice in relation to education and health promotion in low- and middle-income countries
• enable you to critically review arguments, advance your own analysis and undertake research on education, international development and health promotion.

Features
This masters degree offers the opportunity to:
• be taught by experts in health promotion and education in low- and middle-income contexts
• benefit from international guest speakers at lectures and seminars
• be involved in a range of teaching and learning methods that mirror good practice in participatory planning and practice for health promotion
• meet a diverse student group (our alumni are from more than 80 countries)
• take part in a study visit to Paris (not included in the course fee), incorporating UNESCO and the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP)
• study modules online as well as face-to-face, with a minimum of one term in residence in London.

Attendance
Mixed mode, including face-to-face daytime sessions, evening intensive courses and online learning. Start in October, January or April.

Who is this programme for?
People who work in health, education, health promotion and/or social development in low- or middle-income countries; also professionals who would like to transfer their expertise in high-income countries to low- and middle-income contexts.

How are you assessed?
By coursework and a dissertation of 20,000 words or a report of 10,000 words
