Universities in Brighton

Brighton’s two universities are the University of Brighton, which also has campuses in neighbouring towns, and the University of Sussex, which has its campus on a large site on the edge of the city. Both received their charters in the 20th century, though the University of Brighton can trace its origins to 1859.

The University of Sussex is one of the top 20 universities in the UK and is part of the Russell Group of leading UK research universities. The University of Brighton is also ranked within the top 100 universities in the UK and is particularly renowned for the quality of its art and design work.
